I’m going on a trip to the beach tomorrow. I’m exhausted, I haven’t packed yet, I want some chocolate, and I need to put together a playlist.
BUT did you guys know that Brazilian beaches—specifically in my area—are different? I know it’s not unique to here; other countries have strong waves, too. But I was shocked when I found out that not all oceans are like that, and that, for example, they use buoys on the beach. Here, everyone knows it’s dangerous—if you want to go in the ocean, you have to know how to ride the waves, or go with someone who does. The waves are strong, the foam is excessive—it builds up and then breaks (which can hit you and push you underwater)—they’re really high, and you have to know whether to go over or under them. I didn’t realize this wasn’t common knowledge for everyone who goes to the beach.
That said, I can just imagine Gi-hun and In-ho on vacation at a beach in Brazil!
Honestly, In-ho would be confident. Okay, he’d read about the waves, but what harm could there be? He knows how to swim—and very well at that. He’ll protect Gi-hun if there’s any trouble, and it’s a good opportunity for them to hold on to each other. He just didn’t count on a wave breaking behind him and knocking him into the water. Gi-hun was quicker and dove in, but he was swept away. The problem is that saltwater got into In-ho’s eyes, and he can’t open them, screaming for Gi-hun, who’s trying to swim back to him, but the waves keep coming. In the end, Gi-hun also gets caught by a wave—an even worse one—that sends him tumbling, and when he finally feels the sand under his feet, he runs out of the water, coughing. These idiots looked like two wet cats and got scolded by the lifeguard, who spoke English.
They only went back in when a local family invited them to join them and guide them while swimming
Bonus:
here we have beach huts. No, they’re not just beach umbrellas and chairs (though we have those too)—they’re beachfront restaurant-style structures, except the floor is sand (after all, they’re literally on the beach). The decor features local handicrafts, the food is traditional (mainly fish from the city’s fisheries), and there are plenty of showers to rinse off the saltwater. When the kids can’t go into the ocean, they play with the sand around the tables. Except in this case, the kids are Dae-ho, Jun-hee, and Jun-ho. A neighbor’s child would have taken the toy trucks and mini excavators. In-ho was going to buy a mini excavator in town for Gi-hun, who was watching. And soon we have another child building sandcastles; the baby is now in In-ho’s arms (and Jung-bae is sleeping in the hammock).

In-ho takes his old police uniform out of the closet.
He wants to check out Gi-hun’s motel from the inside. He’s sure Gi-hun has something in there—all he has to do is print out a fake warrant, claiming suspicious behavior reported by nearby businesses. No one ever goes into the motel; it’s always the same car coming and going. A car pulls up in front, full of men, but only one gets out—and he returns with a bag full of stuff.
When Gi-hun answers the door, he thinks: Shit. They’ve found me out. Plan B.
Bribe the cop? No. Seduce the cop.
And that’s how they end up having sex all night long at the motel, and every time the cop comes back to “check up” on things, they do it all over again.
The way I immediately started writing the "after" part after posting last night @alatariel-gildaen. I have to share this teaser so far though because imagine being jealous of yourself and not knowing it.
"You're here. You're alive," In-ho repeated aloud, more so to reassure himself than Gi-hun. "You're still with me."
When he caressed his cheek, Gi-hun grunted, his eyes opening up into a weary squint, half-asleep as he mumbled, "Young-il?"
In-ho tensed.
Who?
He didn't recognize that name…
Not that he got the chance to ask about it either, Gi-hun slipping seamlessly back into his slumber without second thought.
Okay, not the time to jump to conclusions. What mattered was that Gi-hun was alright. Nothing happened to him over the course of the night. In-ho could calm down, knowing that for a fact.
After all, who cared if his husband just called him by another man's name the morning after their wedding? Not him. Not In-ho. He was fine. It was fine. This was all fine.
Oooh I'd love to hear more about the Vegas marriage AU. Bonus points for an In-ho pov, maybe even featuring a before and after shower moment so we get a before "our Gi-hun" lands in that universe and after!
Look, I got carried away with the "before" part, so I will definitely follow up in another post with the "after." Drunken Gi-hun was sooo fun to write, he's a bit of a rollercoaster of emotion here. Can't believe I'm saying this but poor In-ho. He doesn't know what he's in for! Also, warning in case anyone needs it for referenced suicide attempt.
"Ugh. Get a room already, you two!"
On the elevator ride up, Jun-ho's protests were met with an annoyed squint as Gi-hun continued to wrap himself around In-ho like a koala, blowing a raspberry in Jun-ho's direction.
While it wouldn't be the first time In-ho had to deal with Gi-hun in a drunken state, he was certainly more… excitable than usual. Then again, with spirits high that evening, perhaps In-ho shouldn't have expected anything less.
"What do ya think we're doin'?" Gi-hun slurred. Clinging to In-ho, he pressed a wet, smacking kiss onto his cheek, and then another, In-ho teetering before he managed to steady them both. "The things imma do to yer brother tonight…"
Snickering, In-ho decided to have mercy on Jun-ho before he gave himself an ulcer, whispering into Gi-hun's ear, "Are probably best kept to ourselves."
Okay, maybe In-ho wasn't too merciful. His hand slowly trailed down along the curve of Gi-hun's spine as he blabbered on.
"Hmph. Why? You are being such a pru— In-ho!" His voice cut off into a shrill squeak when In-ho, admittedly more than a little buzzed himself, grabbed a handful of his ass and squeezed. His shameless groping was the only encouragement Gi-hun needed to press closer. His breath warm against his cheek, he poked In-ho in the chest with a giggle. "You keep that up, and we won't make it back to the room."
"If there ever was a higher power out there listening," Jun-ho begged, "please end me now."
Jung-bae grumbled from where he had his flushed face plastered against the cool surface of the elevator's sleek, metallic walls. "I don't know whether to be sick from the alcohol or those two."
"Just be glad our rooms are on the other side of the penthouse," Sang-woo sighed, his head tilted back against the wall, eyes squeezed tightly shut to shield them from the lights.
"I think that they're cute!" Ali chimed in, supporting Dae-ho's weight where he was draped heavily against his side, his head ducked low with a groan.
"Don't encourage them," Jun-ho warned at the same time Sang-woo mumbled something about how Ali would be the one to say that.
Gi-hun, on the other hand, was beyond thrilled. "Thank you, Ali. At least someone here is bein' supportive."
"Bite me," Jun-ho said.
Gi-hun started to retort, but —unable to resist the opportunity— In-ho beat him to it, tightening his hold on him with a smirk. "I'll have you know, if he's going to be sinking his teeth into either of the Hwang brothers tonight, then it's going to be me."
A chorus of complaints rose up in response while Gi-hun looked like he was five seconds away from dropping down onto his knees for him right then and there.
Lucky for them, they arrived on their floor at that exact moment, and In-ho didn't hesitate to lift Gi-hun up into his arms, the latter instantly wrapping his legs around his waist.
And in spite of all their ribbing, a wave of 'congratulations!' and whistles called out after them as In-ho carried him through the spacious suite.
A sudden flurry of kisses covered his face, but In-ho simply smiled into all of them.
His heart raced. His chest felt full to bursting.
Years ago, had someone told him he'd find this level of happiness again, he would have laughed in their face, yet here he was.
Here they were.
"You're so beautiful," In-ho praised. Nudging the door to their room open with his foot, he kicked it shut behind them. "How did I get so lucky?"
"You?" Gi-hun pulled back to stare at him, eyes wide. "If anything, I'm the lucky one."
"Nope." Crossing the room, In-ho carefully sat Gi-hun onto the edge of the bed. An all-consuming reverence flowed through him until the warm, tingling sensation filled him from head to toe. "It's definitely me."
When Gi-hun tried to protest again, In-ho leaned in to silence him with a kiss. Caught up in the moment, they melted into each other's embrace, but confusion soon took the place of their marital bliss when In-ho tasted salt upon their lips.
The last thing he expected was to hear Gi-hun sniffle, which instantly set him on edge, breaking the kiss in time to watch Gi-hun's face fall.
His heart sank in his chest.
"Gi-hun, what's wrong?" In-ho asked, already wiping away his tears with his thumbs, only to watch more spill down his cheeks in their place. "Why are you crying?"
"I'm just s–so happy!" he wept, his shoulders hitching with every breath.
Oh, boy.
In spite of himself, a hint of amusement betrayed In-ho. The corner of his mouth twitched, a brief grin toying at his lips before he schooled his face into a neutral expression.
He rubbed Gi-hun's shoulder comfortingly. "Really? Because you don't seem very happy right now."
"But I am!" He pouted up at him, brown eyes glistening, his lower lip wobbling. "We're married now!"
"Yes…" Trailing off, In-ho made the mistake of chuckling. "That was the plan, wasn't it?"
Gi-hun huffed. "Don't laugh at me!"
"I'm not, I swear!"
"And now you're lying." He flopped back onto the covers, having enough sense to at least kick off his shoes before he crawled further into bed, his voice muffled into a pillow. "You're a terrible husband."
"Yeah, yeah." Following his lead, In-ho toed off his shoes, then climbed in alongside him, admiring the soft, pink blush of Gi-hun's suit against his skin. Needing to touch him again, to know that this moment was real, In-ho reached out and brushed stray strands of hair back behind his ear. "I know."
Gi-hun turned his head aside to glare at him.
"You're not supposed to agree," he said. "You're…" He tapped In-ho on the nose, grinning when he scrunched it up at him. "Incredible."
"And you're drunk."
"Only a little." He pinched his fingers together for emphasis before grabbing In-ho's hand in his, caressing the curve of his wedding band. They watched the rhythmic motion continue until Gi-hun managed to find his words again, albeit softer this time, as if afraid their peace would shatter at the slightest noise. "Can I tell you something?"
In-ho shifted closer, nudging his shoulder with his.
"Anything."
Gi-hun watched him closely.
In time, he gave In-ho a sad smile.
"I'm really glad you didn't jump back then."
Of course Gi-hun would render him speechless in a single statement.
The world grew fuzzy around them, and there was an instant where In-ho was transported back in time. Even now, he could feel the rain pelting against his skin, could feel the howling winds whipping past his face, all while he stared down into the waters of the Han River.
Blinking back the memory, he swallowed thickly.
"Well." Vision blurred, he cleared his throat. "What else was I supposed to do, when there was this strange man up there, threatening to jump in after me?"
Back then, the year was 2015, and Seong Gi-hun had been out for a ride after a particularly nasty argument with Eun-ji that night. He had gone out looking for an escape, trying to take his mind off things, when he happened across In-ho.
They met by pure chance, but it changed the whole course of their lives from that moment on.
"'You can't save me,'" In-ho whispered without thinking, giving voice to an echo of the past.
"Maybe I can. Maybe I can't."
Gi-hun didn't miss a beat, squeezing his hand in his. "'That won't stop me from trying.'"
Ever since then, Gi-hun had become many things to In-ho.
Savior. Friend. Lover.
And now, husband.
All In-ho could hope was that he provided Gi-hun even a fraction of the happiness, love, and acceptance that he had given him over the years.
Although, Gi-hun would never know, beyond the death of Inho's wife and their baby, what drove In-ho to that point of ending it all.
He'd never know the truth. He'd never know that the fortune that secured their future —that ensured Gi-hun would never know another day of struggle in his life— came from the brutality of the games, but In-ho accepted that as his burden and his alone to bear.
Sometimes, a 'happily ever after' required some bloodshed to get there, and In-ho had come to terms with that long ago.
Stealing a quick kiss, he whispered against Gi-hun's lips, "I'm glad you talked me off that ledge."
Gi-hun started to say something, but In-ho watched him freeze all of a sudden, his hand tightening around In-ho's to the point that his fingers grew numb.
All of the emotion drained out of him, his face, his voice…
When he looked into In-ho's eyes, it was as if he was staring into the deepest, darkest corners of In-ho's soul, peeling back layer after layer to unearth what was hidden beneath.
"But would you do the same for me?"
The question struck him like a bolt of lightning. Tension spiked around them, sucking all of the air out of the room, but Gi-hun only continued to pick him apart with his gaze, his tone devoid of all emotion.
For the first time since he met Gi-hun, In-ho felt true uneasiness in his presence.
"What–What do you mean?" he asked, brow furrowed.
Gi-hun slowly cocked his head to the side.
"Would you talk me off the ledge, if given the chance?"
"Of course I would," In-ho answered, but something wasn't right about this. Even drunk, it wasn't like Gi-hun to ask such a loaded question. "Jagiya, you're starting to worry me."
That seemed to snap him out of his daze, if only for a moment. An icy cold stream of sobriety washed over both of them, leaving them more alert than they've been all evening.
"Sorry, I—" Gi-hun shook his head to clear it, releasing In-ho's hand to clutch at his temple instead. "I think I need to sleep."
"Okay, yeah." Lips pursed, In-ho nodded his agreement. "Anything you need."
Gi-hun frowned at him, wilting like a flower. "I've ruined our wedding night."
"No, not at all," In-ho said, willing to put all of that —whatever that was— behind them in an attempt to salvage the remains of their earlier joy. "How could you, when you've made me the happiest man alive today?" He brought Gi-hun's hand to his lips and pressed a kiss upon his ring, then along each fingertip. "I love you so much."
Familiar crinkles fanned out around the corner of Gi-hun's eyes whenever he smiled, and In-ho swore it was only a matter of time before that man blinded him with his beauty.
"I love you, too, In-ho," he breathed, but every word still felt slightly off, too intense, a trace of that haunting chill still laced throughout. A hidden meaning enveloped within that In-ho couldn't quite grasp on his own. "Always remember that."
"Gi-hun—"
"Go to sleep," he interrupted, turning over so that his back was to him. "Get some rest. You'll need it in the morning."
Under any other circumstances, that would have been the frustrating kind of promise that kept In-ho up all night, tossing and turning in anticipation.
Instead, his stomach twisted itself into knots as this unusual distance settled between them.
Like a light, Gi-hun was out before In-ho could muster up a response, and all he was left with was the lingering question of, What the hell just happened?
Clinging to some semblance of normalcy, In-ho set to work on getting Gi-hun out of his suit. If nothing else, In-ho knew that it would make him feel even worse to wake up with a massive headache on top of being all hot and sweaty in his clothes from the night before. Gi-hun barely even budged as In-ho went through the motions, stripping away one article of clothing after another until Gi-hun was left only in his underwear.
A very lacy, very sheer pair of underwear at that.
Hooking a finger underneath the panties, In-ho raised an eyebrow at his sleeping husband.
"Well, we both expected the night to go a bit differently, didn't we?"
The white fabric snapped back into place against his skin, and Gi-hun shifted against the sheets. His face briefly scrunched up, then relaxed as Inho's name slipped past his lips in a low murmur.
Right.
Maybe In-ho was overreacting, reading too much into things.
Gi-hun was drunk. He had one too many. That was all.
He'd have one hell of a hangover, sure, but everything would be back to normal come morning.
That was what In-ho kept telling himself at least while he shed his clothes as well. Joining Gi-hun in bed, In-ho snuggled up against his back, anchoring him into place with their legs tangled together.
He wrapped his arm around him, his hand pressed against the center of Gi-hun's chest, and allowed his heartbeat to lull him to sleep.
Rest… didn't come easy. No sooner than he closed his eyes did the nightmares begin. Memories of the games —some familiar, others different from what he could recall— plagued him endlessly throughout the night.
The last thing he remembered before awaking the next morning was Gi-hun's lifeless eyes staring up at him, a misshapen halo of blood pooling around his head.

Inho is the CEO of a hugely successful company. Before his wife passed, his employees loved him - he could be a bit blunt but overall he was a kind and fair boss. The employees recognize him as Gihun, the friendly owner of a small nearby restaurant. Inho is smiling and when the employees get his attention he greets them warmly and happily introduces them to his new boyfriend.
The employees who worked underneath Inho LOVED him. He was so kind, so generous and a fair boss who always gave his employees what they needed and always praised them for a job well done. He could be awkward and a little blunt, but he was a great boss!
But then his wife died and he completely changed.
He didn't smile or laugh or tell employees that they did a good job. He started losing way too might weight and not only that, but he was also rude to his employees and even stopped giving out promotion or bonuses.
A lot of people quit but some of them stayed, worried for Inho but not knowing how to help him. How do you help a man that lost the most important person in their life?
But then one day, years later, they start noticing how Inho is smiling and laughing again. They notice how he's giving out praise and bonuses like he used to and how he even put on some weight! Nobody knows what's going on but everybody is happy for him!
It's not until months later, when a few employees go to Inho's office for him to sign some paperwork that they see a man FEEDING Inho. He's sitting on Inho's desk and hand feeding him, petting Inho's cheeks and Inho is smiling at the man like he hung the moon.
The employees recognize him as Gihun, the kind man who owns a restaurant nearby.
They're about to leave the office when Inho notices them and smiles, telling them to come in and introducing Gihun as his boyfriend. The employees nod politely and Gihun greets them warmly and even gives them cookies!
After the paperwork is done, the employees go back to their desk, happy that their boss finally found some happiness and peace again.
Was packing the suitcases (obviously, the most appropriate time to get new ideas, as usual) and started thinking about a zombie apocalypse AU with inhun... Except it takes place after an alternate version of season 3.
Gihun, when proposed with the idea of killing the rest of the finalists, accepts it. After that he goes back to the headquarters to also kill Inho. Then he takes the baby and goes on to live his life while also raising an infant.
A few years pass by, and out of nowhere a zombie virus starts spreading rapidly. It's spread through saliva, like rabies. So you gotta watch out for the zombies trying to bite you. Gihun tries his best, well, not to die. And to keep his babygirl safe.
One day on his way to retrieve groceries he's attacked by one of the zombies, and thinks his time has come. Until someone shoots the zombie and approaches him with what seems to be an antidote. Through tears and squinted eyes, Gihun recognizes the guy... It's Inho.
The next day Gihun wakes up in a bed, confused as hell. Why is Inho alive, why did he save him, and why does he have the cure to the virus???
They're gonna have to figure out so much stuff together now!
Dark inhun fic writers seriously deserve more recognition because they've been carrying the inhun fandom from the very beginning. Not only have they pushed the limits of how far both Inho and Gihun are willing to go, but they've also fully embraced the toxicity of their relationship, created an incredible amount of content around it and helped develop the fandom as a whole.

It honestly hurt me so much to think about Ga-yeong and the last scene she had in the series.
In-ho was such a fucking asshole here. He really thought he was doing something by giving her that jacket, when he was only making things worse.
Psychologically, Ga-yeong was actually better off thinking her father had abandoned her rather than knowing he was dead. Which is precisely why Gi-hun cut contacts with her when he decided to stop the games! He knew she'd suffer less thinking he had abandoned her. He knew she'd suffer less if she started hating him.
'Cause now she doesn't know when he died, how he died or why he died. All she has is a bloody jacket that only tells her he didn't have a peaceful end. A person can't even start the grieving process like that! There's a reason why the families of murder victims fight for the truth for years or even decades, the grieving process is a lot harder when you don't have the whole truth about what happened to your loved one.
It's already hard for an adult, imagine a child! Her mind will always wonder what happened, she will always be looking for closure and honestly I cannot see a future for her that doesn't include going after the games like her father did. I cannot see a future for her where she doesn't stop until she gets the whole truth.
I honestly always thought that Inho was taking care of the baby as a fucked I’m way to atone for his sins. Maybe he wanted to prove to himself that he could take care of something instead of destroying it and he gave the baby to Junho because he couldn’t get over the fact that he kind of blamed the baby for Gihun’s death.
Gi Hun's version, if he had killed In Ho after all: It will be a fight in the Frontman 's chambers, where Gi Hun is overcome with adrenaline and kills the organizer. During the fight, In Ho's box collapses to the floor, after which the song "Fly me to the moon" is played... In Ho had been tormented by his nightmares for days, from the fact that Gi Hun would achieve his goal and even kill him...All the players in his nightmares love to play and smile at him, demanding that the games continue... Before leaving for a quiet and eternal sleep, In Ho sees hallucinations about how all these unknown and murdered players are killing him on their own.
