Cade frowned a little bit at her words, just staring at her for a moment before actually speaking. “I don’t have enough energy to deal with one.” He pointed out, shrugging slightly. “I like cats more.” Cats were even better than people, in his experience.

“Yeah, I know that Connor is important to you. You guys have a really special bond. Connor is the world to me, and if I had to I would go through it all again. It was hard and it was a mess, but I swear to you that I would do it again. In a heartbeat.” Harmony replied, knowing that being with Connor was worth everything that she had to go through. Connor was her rock, and she needed him just as much as he needed her. “Yay, I am so glad. This is very exciting, thank you!”

Cristoph had originally hoped she would take the hint and not force him into it, but it was too late and it was his fault for not lying about his feelings. The boy ran a hand through his hair and looked at the lake, letting out a huff of air, “Geez… where to start…” He knew this was a bad idea, Maia was the only person who knew what happened and if his best friend couldn’t react, how could Kara? “Well,” the boy started, slapping his thighs as he took a deep breath, ready to begin his long rant, “Basically, I’m going to hell because I have become the worst Catholic to walk on earth; I drink, I sleep around, I give in to my desires, I haven’t been to church in a month and I lie.. a lot. The problem is, that, I don’t want to be like this.. I just.. was at such a low point a couple months ago.. I became such a bad person and I just.. hate it, you know? My mother would be absolutely disgraced to see me like this..” Cristoph bit his lip, realising that although all this was his major pain, the numbing feeling in his chest to make him want to breakdown in tears everyday, it wasn’t the stabbing pain in his heart that he was being melodramatic about. The boy gave a small chuckle to hold his true sadness away, staring down at his lap, “but I guess, if you put all that aside… I’m just heartbroken. I.. saw my.. Well, not ex, but an old friend I got really close to when I was younger and.. we slept together but.. he changed. And It just kills me because he loves me as well I just.. the distance is.. big. We couldn’t make it work. I’m just.. blaming myself I guess for how I managed to mess everything up five years ago. He’s become this.. different person because of me and I hate myself for that.” Cristoph bit his lip, realising he was just rambling and rambling on, not even taking a look at the girl seated next to her. “I-I’m sorry, I’ve had a tough week.”

He tilted his head, chuckling softly at the pouting face she pulled while talking about the pet restrictions. “It’s hard not to be when I’m surrounded by so many great people.” His eyebrows went up and Warren looked at her in curious amusement. “Amazing? What’s been going on in your life to warrant such a big adjective choice?”

“Yeah, go right ahead. As long as you’re not stealing him, then it’s alright,” he consented, shifting the puppy far enough forward in his lap so she could easily reach him. “He’s very friendly. At least, he’s seemed to be so far, and it is part of his job description.”

“You are right when you say ‘a little more.’ It’s not like I was the big man on campus in high school or anything,” he laughed at his own expense, highlighting what Kara already knew. “I had a girlfriend for five months when I was a senior and that is the summary of my long, dramatic dating history.” Grinning, he couldn’t help but feel happy sitting there with Kara. She probably made him too content for his own good. Diego would’ve made so much fun of him if he’d been there; good thing his cousin was nowhere in sight. “Since we’re both pretty much novices and you have some book guidance, the great thing is, I’m pretty sure we can decide for ourselves how we want this to go. Unless there are some almighty dating regulations I’m not privy to yet.”

Harmony smiled at Kara, waiting for the girl’s response. Part of her was worried that the other girl would say no, but she was really hoping that she would agree. “Yeah, I think you’d be a great maid of honor.” She explained, with a soft nod. “Connor has always spoken so highly of you, and you’ve been nothing but great to the both of us since we’ve been here. You really made me feel welcome here, and welcome into the family. I would love to have you by my side when it becomes official.”

Cade glanced up as she held the magazine in a way to show him and looked over the article, shrugging. “I’m not really a dog person.” He just didn’t have enough energy for them, most of the time. If he were to ever get a dog, it’d probably have to be really chill.

“I do agree that asking someone is worth a shot.” Harmony replied with a smile, thinking about how much fun it would be to have a puppy around. She knew that there were other matters at hand right now though, so plotting for a puppy was going to have to wait. “Well, as you know, we are going to be family soon, so I was wondering if there was something you’d do for me.” She explained, pausing for a little dramatic effect before asking the question. “ Will you be my maid of honor?”

“Yeah, it’s hard not to love pets. Especially when you see how happy they make their owners,” he thought aloud, imagining the happy expressions on people’s faces when they took their dogs for walks or played with their rabbits. “I’ve been doing really well.” It was a relief to know he could say that and mean it for the first time in a while. “What about you? Good semester so far?”

“He’s very cute,” Rohit confirmed with ease. After a moment’s pause, he added, “would you like to pet him?”

With her head on his shoulder, he naturally began to stroke her hair as he always had, giving some sort of hum-chuckle mixture by way of agreement. Even if their relationship had only formally begun moments ago, things between them felt just comfortable as usual, which made him incredibly happy. “You know, I don’t think it’s going to take me very long to get used to this. I may have very little experience in the dating realm, but I’d like to think it’s working out so far,” he joked.

“We have different styles,” the boy smiled gently, not keen on comparing himself to other artists. Cristoph looked down at his fingers, twisting the sole ring he had on, losing the other two somewhere in his room. “It’s really long and complicated and I don’t want to pass my bad mood onto you.” Although he trusted Kara and knew how great of a shoulder to cry on she was, Cristoph genuinely didn’t want people to get involved in his negativity, feeling as if he was a contagious virus nowadays. It’s happened with Olivia and Maia, he didn’t want to ruin yet another person’s day as he was sure they wouldn’t be able to help. Not in a mess of a situation like this.

she thought it over for a few minutes, not really sure what would happen if someone was caught with a puppy.  ❛ you could always lie and say you were just watching it for someone, while they had family in the hospital. or you could just accept it and give it away. dunno, both would be shit, so it’s a risk. ❜
