actually i think it’s a fascinating part of how humans see history in their respective eras, right now we romanticize the edwardian, victorian, and colonial eras. in those times we romanticized the medieval era. in the medieval era we romanticized the roman era. in the roman era we romanticized the greek empire. in the greek empire they romanticized the bronze age (known to them as the “age of heroes”) i’ve always found it kind of adorable that the second we find ourselves in a distinct era of time we look back with rose colored glasses and use it as the settings for our stories. obviously sometimes nostalgia becomes reactionary but that’s a different discussion
