A lot of people ask where I get my character fashion designs from and it's pretty much exactly this. I look at a lot of runway art shows for inspiration and either directly draw outfits or learn from how fashion designers use silhouettes, texture and color.

If you're a new writer and you're asking yourself "is this too personal, is this too much, will people think this is weird" that feeling is the exact location of your actual voice. The stuff that makes you want to close the laptop is the stuff nobody else could write. The safe version is always worse. Always. I have never once read something and thought "this would have been better if it was a little less honest." go further. It's always go further.

i love how sweeney todd has all this lyrical and musical foreshadowing and you only ever realise once it's already too late. like take the beggar woman. in literally her first appearance she seems to recognize sweeney. her alms alms line is the same step as sweeney singing about lucy in epiphany. the same theme plays when she dies, but you really only realise that afterwards. honestly i think it kind of sums up a lot of the tragedy in the musical. once we meet the characters, it's already too late for them

Talking to middle aged ppl is depressing because they love telling you about how with 1 singular franc they could buy a car and a house with a pool and the fucking Eiffel Tower but then they switched to euro so now a pizza is 15 bucks and it’s like ok what do you want me to do kill myself ?
