Top 12 Kpop Songs â 2 Year Kpop Anniversary
Since Exoâs Call Me Baby came out 2 years ago in March, it means that Iâve been into Kpop for 2 years now! Thatâs a lot for me because I get tired of things kind of quickly. So for my Kpop anniversary, I decided to do a all time top 12 favorite Kpop songs.
Even though I LOVE khiphop and krnb this list will just be Kpop. There are some songs that arenât really kpop songs, but they are by Kpop groups. So does that count? Most songs on this list will be by Kpop groups anyways.
Please show some love to this post. I spent a long time on it and creating the pictures for it.
12. Black Hole // Shinee
Ah, Shinee. You can always rely on them for delivering bops. This song was not a title track, but it was on the amazing View album. This song is so nice I love it. You canât just help but dance and bob your head when listening to it.
11. Ah-Ah // Teen Top
Omg this album and song is amazing. Letâs just talk about the song for a minute. Itâs catchy, quality content, the MV is so colorful, and they all look fine. Not to mention that the footwork is LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE. So, how can you not love and stan this amazingly talented group.
10. Moonlight Sonata // Big Star
Okay Iâm going to be honest. This is the only big star song that I listen to/know. I didnât even watch the MV until I started writing this post even though it has been on my playlist for a few years. But I just had to put it on this list. This song is AMAZING and even though I donât know them they deserve more love and recognition.
But listen to this song because it is so smooth and I cry every time I hear it. Side note but I like Baram cause he had a man bun in this music video.
9. Automatic // Red Velvet
This is true art right here. Not only is the MV aesthetic but the song itself sounds so aesthetic. Also, I really love the red album and their recent one. There is not much to say besides appreciate this master piece.
8. Ma Boy // Sistar19
The iconic body roll anthem of the century. Honestly, I cannot help but body roll to this song. Like how can you not? But their socks with heels kill me every time.
7. Playback // Playback
Is this socks with heels part 2? Hahaha Iâm kidding. But, Iâm so glad I randomly clicked on this when it was in my YouTube subscription page. But like this song is sooo good I practically know all the lyrics and the whole dance. Also itâs super catchy so go listen to it so it gets stuck in your head for the whole day.
6. Fly // Got7
This is honestly my favorite Got7 song. There would be more Got7 (and JYP artists) on this list, but JYP is too petty to allow his artistsâ songs on Spotify. This song is perfection, so go listen to it and bless your ears.
5. Q&A // Seventeen
Oh this song is so cute I love it. Like you have s.coups, vernon, and woozi, and then you throw in Ailee with her amazing vocals. How can you not be shook by this song? Also, am I the only one who heard Vernon say âbagel bagelâ or-
4. Honestly // Monsta X
This song still remains my favorite Monsta X song. I know their other songs are very different from this, but I just canât help but love this song much. Itâs just so beautiful with their their smooth vocals and Jooheon and IMâs rap. Ugh my heart.
3. Shall We Dance // HiNi
Is this considered Kpop? Welp Iâm putting it on this list anyways. This song- ugh I canât even describe. The music video is so simple, but thatâs what I love about it. The song it self is hands down amazing. HiNi looks so cute, and she has such a unique voice that you never expected to come from her. So, I thank myself for randomly clicking on this song and discovering heaven.
2. Cypher Pt. 4 // BTS
I know this is only performed by the rap line (and occasionally Taehyung) but like this song is so lit, and that beat always kills me. I donât really have much to say besides this is a real lit song but yeahâŚ
1. Twenty-Four // EXO
Not really a
I just realized that most of these have an R&B or hiphop feel to them. WhoopsâŚ
Honorary Mentions
There are SO many songs I love. Here are some (a lot of) songs that made it to number 12.5 on my list.

Updates
Wow Iâm back and better than ever. Hahaha Iâm kidding. I honestly really want to get back into blogging, but I feel like Iâm going to get really busy soon. Iâve recently been thinking about my blog, so I wrote this when I had a little free time. I hope this isnât, but Iâm pretty sure this is just going to be a one time gig for now. I canât really fully commit to a schedule or anything like that.
I almost watched 100 dramas, and I have a special post idea. Hopefully, you wonât see that post months from now. But, as previously mentioned I really got into the underground khh and krnb scene, so if you would like any posts on that Iâm more than happy to do it. (If you want I can share my playlist thatâs located on youtube.) Iâm also into mainstream khh and krnb. (Oh and a little into k-indie.) Anyways if you have any suggestions of posts Iâm open to anything.
IMPORTANT: Check out my twitter page! For some dramas Iâve watched/watching I have threads. On those threads you can find my own âliveâ thoughts while watching and screenshots. Go check it out (and my DMs are open lol.)

Review
This drama messes with my heart so much. I canât even explain properly. I donât know where to start. Let me tell you this is worth all 51 episodes. This was a big step for me as Iâve never watched a drama with this many episodes, but it was worth every episode. I get very distracted and give up on dramas very easily, but this kept my attention every minute. I did want to give up towards the end because everyone was being annoying, but if youâre like me and feel this way anytime throughout the drama, just finish it!
At first, like all historical dramas it is kind of confusing because names and historical events are thrown at your face, but stick to it! This drama changed my life, or my drama life at least. Since there were so many characters I see cast members of this drama in every drama I watch. Also, it took me quite a while to get over this drama. The OST is great too, I saved them all to my playlistâŚOkay Iâm a little obsessed.

REVIEW
Okay, this drama is literally life changing, but then again it was my longest drama that Iâve watched so far. I have so many emotional attachments to this drama even though Iâve finished this drama months ago. Â Like now I compare or am always reminded of Empress Ki whenever Iâm watching other dramas. I guess that just shows how amazing of a drama this was.
Of course I donât remember as much or have as strong feelings anymore since I finished this drama quite a while ago, but Iâll  try my best to talk and go into as much detail as possible.
So I absolutely love the cast. Well, just the main characters because Chang Ji Wook and Ha Ji Won are my  absolute favs. But, I have a love hate relationship with all of the characters, like Nyang (Empress Ki). She can be so fierce and just an amazing strong female character, but other times she can be really weak and annoying. By the end of the series, I just concluded she is crazy and hopeless. Actually, by the end of the series,  I think everyone either ended up dead or crazy. Of course I loved the emperor. No matter how dense he was. (You know you love an actor when you canât hate the actorâs character no matter what they do.)  I was watching this drama with my family, and they hated him. (I was so offended.) But, I loved the emperor even though he was dull. He added a comical side to the drama, making it more lighthearted between those dark, dramatic times.
There were many characters that I hated. (ie. the Empresses besides Empress Ki) But surprisingly, I really didnât like Wang Yu. Like ever. I donât know why. It might be because I loved the Emperor so much. It might be because he looked old. (Sorry Iâm really judgmental when it comes to dramas. I can write a whole post about this.) I know a lot of people like him. My family really loved him for whatever reason.
This drama was really amazing though. The ending kind of left me hanging and filled with so many questions. What was that?! So who did she really love? Things like that. Good thing there was a special little episode which added more closure. (I noticed most kdramas have bad endings. Let me know if you know any dramas with good endings.)
This drama was always unpredictable. It wasnât really cliche. Whenever I thought I could predict what would happen next, I was totally wrong. You really never know whatâs going to happen. Itâs crazy, I canât even.
So wrapping up this review. This drama is amazing. Watch it. Grab some tissues.
Memorable Quotes
(I only took a few screenshots because I mostly watched this on the tv. Luckily, or there would be way too many screenshots.)

Half of this post was written and was in my drafts for the longest time. Sorry for taking so long to post.
Excuse my grammar and spelling, Iâm horrible at English. I say every time I will try to post more. But, this time I will promise to post whenever I can. School has been a lot. Okay Iâll stop lying. Iâm just lazy. But, Iâve actually been watching a lot of dramas recently. Iâve actually ventured out more and have been watching more Asian dramas besides just kdramas. Iâm also thinking about doing other posts besides just reviews, but they will involve Asian dramas.

Review
Let me tell you, I think this has become my favorite drama of all time so far. That is hard to say considering how many dramas I have watched, but this drama is literally perfection. I might be a little biased because Iâve fallen in love with Yang Yang (actor who plays the male lead) through Whirlwind Girl. But, that is a story for another time.
This drama was just so adorable and refreshing. Love O2O made my day these past few days. Whenever I was watching I couldnât stop smiling, my family thought I had a boyfriend or was going crazy. I donât know if Iâm going to watch the movie, but Iâm definitely going to read the book soon! (Let me know if you want links to the English translations online. I can hook you up.)
This drama is definitely worth the watch. This is especially a great drama to watch if you have been watching a lot of serious melodramatic type dramas. Or you can just watch Love O2O whenever you feel like it.
Warning: Since this is a Chinese drama some characters will be dubbed. China is a huge populated country, so there are many dialects. Actors are dubbed over in Chinaâs national language so everyone can understand. Zheng Shuang (Wei Wei) is the only one I know who is dubbed over. I honestly didnât mind and got over it within a few episodes.

REVIEW
Oh this drama was so perfect I donât even know where to start. This drama was just so perfect and adorable. Throughout the series, you can see the characters develop so much, which made me even more attached to this drama.
The drama was probably so good because it was written by the same writer of Boss & Me (which I loved). I think Love O2O has a cuter more innocent vibe. Boss & Me was very cute, but I think it had a more serious vibe, since it took place in a professional serious type of setting. Where as Love O2O took place in college, and the characters are younger and not as mature, I guess you can say. Iâll start off with the characters, their relationships, and then things that I think would have made the drama even better.
So our main guy, Xiao Nai. I literally cannot come up with one flaw of his character. He is so perfect. Not only is he good looking, but he is intelligent and has a good personality. His relationship with Wei Wei was his first, but it definitely didnât seem like it. He was just doing everything right. He made sure Wei Wei ate, was healthy, gave her plenty of compliments, didnât look at any other girls, always looked out for her, and made sure she was happy. Like where can I find a Xiao Nai?
On to our female lead Wei Wei. I heard Wei Wei was portrayed as an innocent girl, and I think Zheng Shuang did a great job on that. You can really see her character develop. At first, she was super innocent and shy. As the story goes along she matures and has this strong side to her, but she still maintains this innocent aura.
On to the side characters. Okay *takes a deep breath* I definitely didnât like some of the side characters as much. Especially Cao Guang and Zhen Shao Xiang. They really got on my nerves the whole drama, even towards the ending where they made up. Cao Guang was just so immature. If you like someone, why would you act like that to them? Zhen Shao Xiang was just as annoying, creating unnecessary problems. I also was a little annoyed with Er Xi. Like I get how she can feel like a shadow next to Wei Wei, but getting angry at her wonât solve anything. Iâm mostly just mad because she threw that SpongeBob cake.
Let me just write a paragraph about Xiao Nai and Wei Weiâs relationship. It was perfect. There was so much trust and loyalty between them. People tried to break them up and cause misunderstandings, but there relationship was so strong it was impossible. Especially Xiao Nai, girls tried to go to him and sabotage their relationship making Wei Wei look bad, but he believed and trusted in her. None of those things affected them, if it did, it made their relationship even stronger.
I guess to be very nit picky there are a few things that I would change or didnât really like. First of all, Zheng Shuangâs kisses. I gave her a chance because she was supposed to be super innocent, but she just stood there like a rock. The ending was okay. I could live with it, but of course I wanted more. I wish I couldâve seen the wedding at least, especially since Wei Wei looked so beautiful in the traditional robes.
But to end on a good note, this drama is PERFECTION.

NEW STUYBLR
Hello! I have a new tumblr dedicated specifically for studying, so if youâre interested go follow me there!Â
On my new tumblr there will be notes, many resources, tips, study guides, and much more!
Learn Korean Masterlist
Iâm learning Korean and I bet youâre interested or learning it too. Learning a new language isnât easy, and it can get quite pricey. So Iâve compiled a list of FREE resources just for you! Good luck on learning Korean!
Websites:
Course type sites:
SNU Click Me
This is my favorite course type website even though Iâve only done two lessons. Iâm more of a textbook type person, but I really love this website.
Sogang
Many people like this course or recommend it. Iâve never used it, but there are many good lessons you can use for practicing and learning new words.
KBS Learn Korean
There are two parts. One for beginners and the other for more advanced learners. However, this is more geared towards people traveling to Korea. This is still a great website to use for learning vocabulary.
The course can be viewed in different languages not just English!
Pathway to Korean
They have many units and lessons, I havenât used it, but I checked it out. Let me know what you think of it!
Berkeley Language: Korean 10
For more advanced/intermediate speakers.
 Practice & Reading Sites:
Tip: After learning Korean it is important to read everything! Even if you donât understand it is good to practice reading and getting used to talking in Korean. Did that make sense?
Indiana Hangul - Has easy vocabulary for each character in the Hangul alphabet
Great for beginners to practice reading! I love this site!
Fresh Korean - worksheets for practicing reading and writing
English Play - Great website to practice reading and learning new vocabulary since their posts are translated in both English and Korean.
Tip: You will have to turn off adblocker to view the posts
The Korean Thoughts - Has a few posts for practicing reading/writing.
KLEC: Pictorials - Good for practicing!
Korean ComicsÂ
I love this website. It is so cute and great for beginners. There is even a vocabulary page for the words you might have not known that were mentioned in the comics.
Digital Dialects
If youâre more of a game type of person or just want a fun break from word filled pages, check out this website!
Blog
A blog from another self studying learner who also has many resources linked too!
Naver
Naver is basically the Korean Google. I love it so much, it is way better than google. It is great to practice Korean. I canât wait âtill Iâm fluent in Korean, so I can actually use my Naver account that is SO pretty.
They also have apps!
Naver JrÂ
This site is my bestfriend. They have books, games, everything. I love it.
Free Online Textbooks:
Tip:Â You donât have to print out the whole textbook, but for the worksheet pages I recommend printing out just those pages (or any other pages you want), so you can actually fill in the problems and visually see the answers, not just in your head.
Tip: If you go on google books and search and (text)book youâre interested in it will show MANY pages as a preview which you can use those pages for examples/practice!
Korean From Zero
This is my FAVORITE resource! I use this for pretty much all my lessons. This textbook is also like a workbook they have many practice problems! They also have a website with the same lessons that are included in the textbook and audio files for pronunciation.Â
KLEC Textbooks
They have two textbooks. I like these textbooks because it isnât so serious and filled with boring text. There are cute comics in each lesson, which is great for practicing reading.
Korean Seoul National University Textbook
This is more of a workbook to me which I love. Iâd rather fill out a lot of worksheets than read all day! It is slightly older, but it is still amazing!
Links to textbooks
Apps:
Memrise
This is the app I used to learn Hangul! (It is also a website)
Eggbun
Oh I like this app so much, itâs so cute. They give you a few lessons from each chapter, but the rest of the lessons you have to pay from. I recommend this site for beginners who already know Hangul. But check this app out. I love it so much!
Tip: On the front/home page you can see there are flashcards for each lesson. The flashcards include ALL the words that were learned during the lesson. It just wonât have a detailed explanation like the lesson did. But if youâre cheap like me and really like this app, make sure to check out the home page section.
Webtoons
This is great for reading in an enjoyable way! They also have a full English version, where the webtoons are translated.
Tip: Just look up webtoons on the internet and there will be so many sites to practice reading in a fun way!
Pororo
Pororo Flashcards! Sorry Iâm still a child.
6000 Words
I live by this app! The cover is very unappealing, but the app is amazing. (The actually content in the app isnât as unappealing) I really love this app because you can choose which words you want to learn and how you want to learn!
Korean Princess
I donât know why I havenât heard of this app before! It is amazing. This app is mostly for those learning Hangul, but it also has vocabulary words!
They also have a Japanese version for those interested in learning Japanese!!
Captain Korean
This is by the same company as Korean Princess, but it is for those who already know Hangul and I love it so much!
Naver Dictionary
You never know when this will come in handy! It also serves as a translator.
Look up ëí for childrenâs Korean books
Videos:
Sweet and Tasty TV
I love her videos and she is the only Youtuber I watch for Korean videos. (Iâm not much of a video learner type of person.)
Learn 50 Vocab words in a day
I really like using this method to study new words.
Tips for learning Korean
This video was REALLY helpful
Tips:
Use a notebook for all your notes and vocabulary, so you can refer back to them later and have it all in one place.
I like to have loose papers to use for practice and I store them in a folder.
LEARN HANGUL FIRST! (It is actually pretty easy to learn)
Try to have a studying schedule. I have a lot of free time so I study every other day.
Make flashcards. Online and/or offline. If you do offline flashcards keep them together in a ring, and then when you for sure know the word you can through that word away.
Well thatâs it for today! Feel free to message me about ANYTHING. Have a good day!

Korean Resources Masterpost
Since I am often asked about how to learn Korean, what are the best ways to learn Korean, what apps are great for learning Korean, where should I visit in Korea?⌠I thought it would be smart to compile an extensive list of resources to go about your Korean adventure! \(^o^)/
Learning Korean
So, you want to learn Korean? Thatâs amazing! But how do you go about doing it?
As with any language, I feel as though itâs extremely important to gain an understanding as to how the language is used. Before delving into multiple books and grammar lessons, itâs important to soak up the way a new language sounds and how itâs used in everyday context. Even a baby is exposed to their native language for years before they dabble in the basics.
So with this in mind, try watching some Korean TV shows, or listen to Kpop. (If these arenât already your reason for wanting to learn such a beautiful language!) However, if youâre a Kpop fan, Iâd recommend watching a few dramas, just to recognise how words are spoken in normal conversation, and vice versa! So if youâre a Korean drama enthusiast, try listening to Kpop if you havenât already.
Youâd be amazed at how quickly you will instinctively pick up basic words or phrases, before you even understand the alphabet!Â
I want to emphasise how although this isnât an essential step, (because I know a lot of you will be itching to get started) I do believe that having a small understanding of the spoken language first, greatly reduces any confusion when diving into grammar, pronunciation and the alphabet.
So, youâve binged watched every Korean Drama, and learnt all the lyrics to your favourite K-pop songs? What do you do now?..
The alphabet!Â
Sounds easy, and quite honestly it is! You just need practice. The best places to learn the alphabet and how to use it:
Korean From Zero
Seemile.com Hangul PlaylistÂ
How to Study Korean
Learn Korean (Memorisation Game)Â
Learn Hangul
There are loads of resources out there for learning Hangul! But these are the few that I think are simple, easy to understand and provide a quick result! I highly recommend Seemile.com; their playlist takes you straight through the basics in a classroom style lesson. Itâs very easy and straightforward to understand. Alongside Seemile.com, Korean From Zero is also extremely useful for learning Hangul.
I highly recommend learning the pronunciation correctly, rather than relying on romanisation. Romanisation is not always 100% accurate and can leave the words feeling too artificial when spoken.. When relying on romanisation alone, youâll also find that it can often restrict you when learning new vocabulary, or even visiting South Korea itself! Itâs best to first grasp a solid understanding of the alphabet and how to read it before you decide to jump straight into grammar!
Right, now youâve mastered the alphabet. What now?..
Grammar
Iâm sure grammar can seem quite intimidating at first, but youâd be surprised at how simple it is!
Learning a new language is never a quick, or an easy ordeal. However, taking it step by step in bitesized pieces, is often the best approach, and sometimes the most effective!Â
I would always recommend learning with free sources before investing money into learning a language, because more often than not, free sources are easily accessible, motivational, and incredibly rewarding. Once you grasp an understanding for how the language feels, and whether itâs right for you, I would only then suggest buying sources like books, and audio CDs etc.Â
However, this is purely up to personal preference, as I know some people may prefer to buy the tools necessary for learning as the motivation to learn it!Â
And of course, thereâs no use learning grammar if you canât understand words! So itâs very important to keep improving and updating your vocabulary as often as possible.Â
So here is a list of FREE resources that cover grammar and vocabulary:
Resources with an [X] beside them are my personal favourites and highly recommended!

Or even try following your favourite Korean celebrities on Twitter or Instagram. Itâs amazing how much you can learn from social media! Especially if you try following news stations such as KBS or MBC, it will give you some fresh Korean on your dash regularly.Â
With any language, the best way to learn it is to surround yourself with it as much as possible!Â
Listen to Radio stations, such as KBS Cool Fm, or KBS 1 for talk and news, or even MBC Radio. There are many stations to listen to! Even Podcasts are a great resource, listen to native Korean speakers discuss book reviews, or talk about film. Itâs a great way to immerse yourself within the language.

Other resources to improve your Korean:
To further emphasise me previous point, try to surround yourself with the language as much as possible! Itâs also an incredibly motivating experience to talk to native speakers (although it might not be within everybodyâs comfort zone) but it really has the benefit of throwing you into the deep end; providing you with the confidence to learn, adapt and grow extremely quickly as you put your knowledge to use! Plus, itâs very rewarding to meet new people, make new friends and learn things you canât learn from a website! HelloTalk is the best app for this, from my experience.
