Character focus, prefer styles that are lush yet clear, limited first or third person narration. Response time usually 2-4 weeks, can be 5-7 weeks. SFWA qualifying.
Clarkesworld. 10 cents a word up to 4000, 7 afterwards. 1-8k, preferred is 4k. Science-fiction and fantasy. Needs to be well-written and convenient to read on-screen. Appreciates rigour. No talking cats. Response time 2 days. SFWA qualifying.

Interzone. Sub-pro rates if anything (but highly respected). 10k max. Short cover letter. Science-fiction and fantasy.
Whenever I see a post like this, I feel like I have to tell people about the Submission Grinder.Ā I just did a search on it and it came up with 135 markets that pay for fantasy short stories. You can search by genre, pay rate, length of story they accept, etc, and itās constantly being updated, which a post like this canāt be, and you can also use it to keep track of what youāve sent where and when, and since a lot of people use it for this purpose itās got a lot of good data about response times and so on. If you are trying to sell fiction or poetry on the regular, it is such a useful tool and I encourage everyone to use it.

if fallout 76 really is a world whereĀ āevery character is a real personā & thereās no NPCs im making it my civic duty to be like this lowly tavern barkeep and then once iāve established enough of a rapport iām going to nuke all of west virginia and it will be in characterĀ
someone help whereās the screenshot of some post somewhere about the mmo player who barkept for a longass time then fucked absolutely everyone over
This one? @team0player0
Okay two things
1) every time I see something like this, or photos of wild unrealistic landscapes that really exist, or spectacular architecture, whatever it is, I think again that when we write fantasy, we NERF REALITY. That is, hereās some dude with a special interest and a brain that somehow lacks basic self preservation mechanisms, and heās out here looking like a super hero. Regular humans are capable of things we seem super human. Real landscapes are more fantastical than our fantasies. Reality is more fantastical than our fantasies.
2) how the fuck did he not kick out any windows thatās the most impressive part of the whole video.
this man is his own zombie apocalypse team, adding anyone else would just slow him down
So as someone who used to teach parkour back in the day, this dude isnāt just talented. His technique is amazing.
Itās not just about not kicking out windows. Controlling how you land is about shock absorption, about minimizing the strain on your joints. It also makes you quieter when you move. A good landing should be as silent as possible, because loud landings hurt. Thatās the foundation of everything else you do in parkour. So by the time youāre climbing buildings, if youāre breaking windows it means you donāt have enough control to land safely and itās time to go back to your ground basics.
Be the rogue you want to see in the world.
