Rant about miraculous because I have way too much to say and I have no faith in the writers to handle the whole "lying to adrien about his dad being monarch" situation correctly
So bear with me, this is gonna be a long one, but whatever, here we go. To be honest, I feel like most people are really underestimating how bad the situation actually is. Like the problem isn't just about marinette lying to adrien about his dad. That's just the tip of the iceberg.
To start let's see how many things marinette's actually keeping secret from him;
Gabriel was monarch
Adrien is a sentimonster created by his mother, which is why she died and why gabriel became monarch in the first place
Nathalie was mayura, aka an accomplice to the whole thing
That's 3 very major things about his life. Now let's see who exactly is lying to adrien about this, because marinette isn't the only one
Marinette (duh)
Nathalie
Felix
Kagami
Plagg
Amelie (this one isn't confirmed, but she knows felix is argos, and since felix is also a sentimonster, as his mother, I'd expect her to know this, which leads me to believes she knows the miraculous came from gabriel and emilie, etc. point is until proven otherwise, i will assume she knows about most of it)
So that's his girlfriend and partner (depending on if you see it as marinette or ladybug), mother figure/legal guardian, cousin, ex-girlfriend who's now one of his closest friend, kwami and aunt. Aka the people he should be able to trust the most. Now, as a kwami, plagg is mostly meant to obey the guardian, so if marinette ordered him not to say anything to his holder to keep everything a secret, he'd probably have to obey. So he gets a pass, but he's on thin ice.
Now going back to adrien, throughout season 6, we can see him already doubting that something is wrong with the whole thing and he has trouble believing his father was a hero like ladybug told the world. Rightfully so, because gabriel essentially abused him for years. Maybe not physically, but emotionally for sure. He isolated and controlled everything about that boy's life. Adrien being a sentimonster makes this even worse because gabriel quite literally had control over his own son. Adrien is showm multiple times to be terrified off his dad. And now he's expected to believe that his father, that same man who was awful to him in so many ways, is a hero? That he just sacrified himself to save ladybug? Of course he has trouble making sense of that story, it's completely unlike the man he knew. But now he has to deal with everyone telling him his dad was a hero. He has to deal with everyone idolizing him when adrien knows damn well he shouldn't deserve it.
And now, on top of that, he also has to grieve him. His father. The last parent he had. He's an orphan now. He has to come to terms with both the fact that his dad is dead, and the fact that he wasn't a good father and person at all. But while he's trying to deal with this, the world tries to convince him he was a hero. Of course that's gonna mess him up.
And of course, that's not all! Because we have to think about his feelings as cat noir too. Adrien deserves to know the truth as gabriel's son. But cat noir deserves to know as ladybug's partner and as a hero who spent months of his life making sacrifices to fight this man to protect the city. He deserves to know the identity of the man he's been fighting all this time. He would still deserve to to know even if he wasn't the guy's son. Not to mention that he and ladybug recently had multiple talks about trust and how he was tired of being left in the dark about things.
So ladybug should've told the truth to adrien because he deserves to know the reason why his parents are dead and he deserves to know what his father was actually doing, and ladybug should've also told cat noir because he's her partner and he deserves to know who he was fighting and why.
But she doesn't tell either of them. I can understand lying to paris, though I do think there were better ways to keep monarch's identity a secret rather than making gabriel seem like a hero. But yes, I can understand lying to paris to protect adrien. He doesn't need more trouble that would come with everyone coming to talk to him about his dad being a terrorist. BUT, she still should've told adrien the truth. Even if she still lied to paris, she could've told him the truth and ket him decide what to do with the information. And again, she should've told cat noir, but she didn't tell him because she was afraid he'd go tell the truth to adrien? which, frankly, seems like a bad reason for me but maybe that's just me idk.
I will say, I can understand marinette and sympathize with her. She's still a child and she was manipulated by gabriel into lying to "protect adrien". Then nathalie absolutely did not help and she's still manipulating marinette into keeping the secret going to this day. I dont agree with the decision and I think they were stupid ass decisions, but I understand why she made them.
But this brings me to my next issue with the whole thing. Nathalie. She was an accomplice. She deserves to suffer some kind of consequences from this. Sure, she changed sides at the end and helped marinette. But she still helped gabriel commit so many crimes? And let adrien get treated horribly by him. Only reason why she turned on gabriel was because he lost sight of his original goal and he was going to let her die. Not to mention that apparently she might still be working against ladybug, but marinette doesn't know that yet so it doesn't have anything to do with my point.
My point is that everyone who knows about nathalie, (so marinette, felix, kagami etc,) all decided it was a good idea for adrien to stay in care of a criminal who let him get hurt for years?? Change of heart or not, they shouldn't trust her enough to leave him in her care. That's just a stupid ass move let's be so fr. (the fact that she's still working with the bad guys proves my point like why did anyone think she was the right person to take care of him just get that boy out of that fuckass house)
Going back to adrien, when he finds out, because he will find out, and this is where I'm starting to lose faith in the writers, I don't trust them to handle adrien's reaction as seriously as they should, because he should be pissed. He DESERVES to be pissed. To be angry, To feel betrayed. Because, as I pointed out at the start, everyone he should be able to trust the most are actively lying to him about multiple things about his own life. That's a massive betrayal. To be entirely honest, I feel like the betrayal of seeing how many people have been lying to him for so long will hurt him more than knowing about his dad being monarch.
Adding to that is the fact that their reason for lying to him is supposedly to protect him. The same people who say they want to protect adrien and let him finally be able to control his life are the same people that are taking some of that control away from him by controlling the narrative of his entire life. They control his perception of his parents. They control his grief. They control how he sees himself as a human being by keeping the fact that he's a sentimonster away from him. They control every thing.
So yeah, adrien deserves and should be angry. He should crash out when he finds out.
And this is where I start having a bad feeling about how the writers will handle the situation. Because we all assume marinette will get akumatized this season. Probably during the episode Lady Chaos, though it's not confirmed yet, it it very likely at this point. And while I am excited to see that, because marinette getting akumatized because of everything makes sense, I'm scared it's going to end up something like: adrichat finds out, reacts badly and gets (rightfully) angry, maribug gets akumatized, he saves her, then he apologizes for how he reacted because he feels bad for causing her akumatization.
This feels like the most likely scenario. Which is annoying because, again while I can understand marinette's actions and i can sympathize with her, adrien deserves to be mad at her. He deserves to scream at her. I don't want him to be forced to downplay his reaction because he doesn't want to hurt her. Because she hurt him. Deeply. She betrayed his trust in one of the worst ways imaginable. If anything I'd say he should get akumatized when he finds out but that's beside the point.
Now, how do I think it should all go down them? Simple, he finds out, they have a fight, she gets akumatized, he saves her, then he doesn't apologize or anything. He saves her, and they can get to an understanding of sort. I dont think adrien would or should have a villain arc. It doesn't suit him at all. He would still be a hero. But he wouldn't trust her anymore. They can be civil with each other. But friendship would be hard. He probably wouldn't listen to her much anymore. I can see him do his own thing on the side. Using his miraculous and newfound knowledge to investigate some stuff on his family or something.
Could be interesting to have him figure out before marinette that lila is the new butterfly miraculous holder. Then I could see him actually telling ladybug about it. Because while he may not trust her as much anymore, she deserves to know, just like how he deserved to know who monarch was. It's a nice way to open the door to their relationship getting better again, slowly, and it's a good lesson for marinette.
Anyways, that's about it, I probably missed some stuff I wanted to say but this is already way too long as it is.
