Eddie woke with the taste and feel of cotton balls in his mouth and warm, viscous drool on his neck. His first instinct was to panic; he couldn't see V anywhere in the cool gray light of the bedroom. His second instinct was to throw back the covers and fly out of the bed, tear down the stairs and skid into the kitchen. He didn't even make it to the first step when he felt a tug. He whipped around and saw the trail of black tentacle keeping him tied to the bed.

"Buddy?" Eddie whispered, touching his neck for his symbiote wrapped around him. He was there, shriveled and weak, clinging to Eddie.

"Come back to bed," Venom begged, small and sweet. "It is too early to be out of covers."
