Onward just released the findings of a massive study: What We Learned About Gender Diversity From Over 3,000 Photographers. There’s nothing in the study that should really surprise anyone, and there are parts of it that are problematic, but it’s always great to see thoughtful research put into this topic.

Since our latest issue aims to celebrate diversity within the medium of photography we thought it timely to make an essay from the issue available online. Dead White Men (click to download) was written specially for the issue by Natalie Hegert, and touches on some of the same topics as the Onward article. They pair well together. Please download, read, and share. This is important information.

Light Leaked and Canopy Collective invite artists to submit for a simultaneous physical and online exhibition “Tall Tales: an investigative look into the surreal.” Seeking images of altered and deceptive reality: optical illusions, visual surprises, a fresh point-of-view. We are interested in the way light and perspective reign master to the photographer and how they can be used to trick the mind’s eye.

This exhibition is open to artists working in any lens-based media including but not limited to: analog and digital photography, alternative process, and video.
