What are you doing here.

“What am I doing here? What are you doing here?”

“I’m getting Azriel for dinner.” She replied shortly, like it was the most obvious thing in the world. Aurora looked her up and down. Elaine had opted for a shorter dress with a low neckline and dainty straps that looked like they were about to snap at any moment. 

“Azriel and I are going to eat in here, just the two of us, tonight.” Aurora said, smiling as fake as possible. 

“But we always eat together.” Elaine insisted. She went on her tippy toes and tried to look over Aurora’s shoulder. Luckily, Aurora was a fair bit teller than Elaine, and had no problem blocking her view into the bedroom. “Where is Azriel, I want to talk to him.”

“He’s very busy. I’m sure you’ll understand. We just got back and Azriel and I are very tired from last week.” Aurora said suggestively. 

Elaine grunted and glared daggers at Aurora. 

“Hey Elaine, you wanted to talk to me?” A voice came from the stairs. Azriel was walking with an enormous tray of food. His eyes glanced back to Aurora who was fuming  “Did you need something?” He asked Elaine dismissively.  

Elaine smiled at Aurora before turning fully to face Azriel. “Yes actually, I was just getting you to have dinner.”

“Actually now that Aurora is here, I just want to take some time to spend with her. My mate.” He said, emphasis on the word mate, which made Aurora’s heart soar. 

Elaine let out a small squeak.“Oh. Ok.” She said while stiffly walking away.

Aurora watched every move she made, even when she took a last look behind her, Aurora’s eyes were already glaring into hers, a hand on Azriel’s arm protectively. This of course, made her speed up to get out of the hallway. 

“You know, you being jealous is pretty hot.” Azriel said. 

“Oh shut up.”

After finishing eating, Aurora and Azriel cleaned up, took a quick shower (imagine what you want) and settled down in bed. The lights were off, only moonlight shining in from the open window. Auroras head was resting on Azriel’s, chest, his hand stroking her back.

“Azriel…”

“Yes?”

“Can we have our own library?” 

“...of course we can have a library. Only if you promise not to carve out the insides and hide a knife in it.”

“I dunno, that’s a hard thing to promise.” Aurora felt Azriel smile against her forehead.

Silence.

“Do we need house maids?”

“Not if you don’t want them.”

“I think it’ll feel more like home if it’s just us.”

“Good, because I want as much privacy as possible.” Azriel said, giving Aurora a small kiss on the head.

More silence.

“Azriel?”

“Mmm?”

“It won’t be just us forever, will it?” Aurora said, tilting her head to look into his eyes.

Azriel looked like the happiest man alive. Even in the dark, the gleam in his eyes was bright as ever. “No, it won’t” 

“Good.” Aurora yawned, eyes slowly sinking.“Night. I love you.” 

“Good night love.” 

Aurora awoke by the stream of sunlight, directly in her eyes. Groaning, she rubbed her face into the chest of her mate. Azriel was out cold, no way of being woken up. Aurora decided to go to the one place she knew how to get to: the library. 

Walking in, Aurora jumped when she saw someone sitting at one of the tables. 

“Didn’t mean to scare you there.” Rhysand chuckled.

“Oh, don’t worry about it, I’m just easily startled.” Aurora laughed “what are you doing up so early?” 

“I am actually looking at something that concerns you.”

Intrigued, Aurora walked closer to peer at the open scrolls. On the paper, was the picture of a beautiful country house not too extravagant, but still fit to serve a high lord. 

“It’s beautiful. What’s it for?” 

“You- well you and Azriel that is.” 

Sensing her confusion, Rhysand explained “Azriel bought this first thing after I became high lord. He said whenever he met his mate, this is where they would stay. Though I’m sure if you don’t like it, we could find something else”

“No. I love it. You mind if I take it?” 

“Go ahead.”

Aurora grabbed the scroll, careful not to wrinkle it, and ran out of the room straight to where Azriel slept. 

“Az! Wake up! Wake up! Aurora said, climbing on top of him, kissing all over his face.

“What. What. What.” He said in between kisses, starting to worry about possible danger. Aurora pulled out the scroll, holding it Infront of her and peeking her head out the top. 

“Oh.” Azriel said “You found it.”

“Mhmm!” 

“Do… do you like it?” Azriel asked with the sound of uncertainty in his voice. 

“No....” Azriel's face dropped from the little smile it had. 

“I don’t like it. I love it. It’s absolutely perfect!” 

“Good. That’s good.”

“When can we go?”

“Today, after breakfast.”

Walking into the grand library following closely behind Nesta, Aurora was slightly nervous and very intimidated by the girl she was following. When they stepped through the large black doors, Aurora was amazed by the cathedral ceilings with hanging lights, a loft circling the room with twirling staircases in each corner and floor to ceiling windows looking out on the mountainside. 

This library was nothing compared to that of her old house. There was no dust covering unread books and no furniture set up to perfection, unwelcome to visitors as they would only to disrupt the scenery. It was not pristine white, with gold trimmings everywhere possible, but a dark navy blue with bright constellations adorning the ceilings. Though the colours were dim, the room was well-lit and came across as welcoming and comforting. 

“It’s breathtaking.” Aurora exclaimed quietly.

“I know.” Nesta said uncharacteristically emotionally. “The first time I came here, I would even sleep in here. It was the only place I really felt I could stay. Of course, I couldn’t tell anyone about that, and if you let it slip, I’ll cut your tongue out. I can’t have Feyre know this place is growing on me.”

“Don’t worry, I have no doubt you'll hesitate if I so much as suggest that you like it here.”

“Nesta, will you not introduce us already?” A small voice came from the upper corner.

“Ah, Elaine, come down and meet Aurora, Azriel’s mate.”

Aurora looked up and saw a girl not much younger than herself, perching her elbows on the loft rail. Elaine moved slowly,not keeping her eyes off Auroras as she walked down the twirling staircase. 

“It’s so nice to meet you Elaine, I have heard so much about you from Feyre and Azriel.” Aurora said welcomingly. 

“Yes, me and Az spent a lot of time together after I came here. He was really so helpful when it came to cheering me up.”

Elaine’s nickname ‘Az’ really stuck with Aurora for longer than she would like to admit. Nevertheless, Elaine was a sister of Feyre, and was to be treated decently. 

“You see, I’m not sure if you heard the story, but I was turned by the cauldron and after that, was disconnected from the world. It was only when Az sought out my companionship, that I saw reason.” Elaine said, and if anyone else was in the room, they would have thought they loved each other. 

Of course, Aurora knew better and replied with the exact same passive aggressivity, “Yes, Azriel talked about what a good friend you are to him.”

Nesta, sensing the tension, spoke up “Well, now that we are all acquainted, I think Aurora will want to get settled in before having dinner.”

“Yes I think so, where will you be staying?” Elain muttered.

“I think Azriel and I will stay here for the time being, while we sort out a more permanent home.” 

With that, Aurora turned. “It was lovely to meet you” She said, walking out the door without another word. 

Azriel was coming up the stairs as she exited, and upon seeing her, smiled. “Shall we go to our room?”

“That sounds great.”

The bedroom was originally only Azriel’s, his maps and books still remained, but the bed was switched out to a larger, more comfortable one. It was very modest, not too large in size with minimal furniture and a separate bathroom filled with only the essentials. Azriel came up behind Aurora and wrapped his arms around her stomach. “Now, this is only temporary darling, I promise that as soon as possible, we will have a house of our own, as big or small as you want it, with no one around to bother us.”

“You mean no one around to hear us?” 

Azriel raised a brow. “No one around to hear you.” He corrected. 

“Today was a long journey, you should go to sleep early.”

“Only if you will join me, my dear.”

“We both know that if I join you, there will be no sleeping involved.”

“Now what's the matter with that.”

“Only that these walls are thin, and I don’t want anyone hearing you but me.” Aurora said, turning into Azriel’s embrace.

“Protective, are we?” He mused, tightening his grip. 

“Have you talked to Elaine recently?” Aurora muttered, making Azriel let go of his mate and stare into her eyes. 

“Why? What happened?”

“I think she is under the illusion that you and her had something going on before I came and spoiled it.”

“I can assure you, my love, an illusion is all it is.”

“Of course I know that, but it is hard listening to her gush over you.”

“Put your mind to rest, Aurora, I’ll go down and fetch us some dinner and we can eat in here. No one will mind after what we have all been through.”

“That sounds perfect.” Aurora said before pecking Azriel on the lips and pushing him to the door. “Now go! I am famished.”

Chuckling, Azriel closed the door behind him and went downstairs. Aurora flopped down on the bed, inhaling the room’s scent that reminded her of her mate. 

There was a knock on the door. 

“That was quick.” Aurora remarked as she opened the door.

Synopsis: You and Regulus’ plot to destroy the horcruxes has been discovered and now you face the punishment for tricking the dark lord. 

It was your second day at the Riddle mansion. Somehow Dolohov had found out about yours’ and Regulus’ plan to retrieve the necklace and told Tom about it. Needless to say, he had not gone easy on you your first day there. Your body was seemingly untouched, but only because Tom favoured the cruciatus curse. He asked you again and again where Regulus was, but you never answered, not wanting to turn in your now, husband. 

You had met Regulus in first year when you were both sorted into Slytherin. The two of you became fast friends and after his brother left, Regulus turned towards you and not soon after, realized his feelings. You had graduated Hogwarts last year and continued your façade with the death eaters until you found yourself here, in the dungeons, awaiting more torture. 

“Y/n” Bellatrix sang as she skipped down the stairs leading to your cell. “Sadly, Tom has been called away for some business, but luckily for you, I am here to fill in.” She unlocked your door and beckoned for you to come. “Let us ladies try and do this the civilized way, eh y/n?”

You were brought into the large living room looking out onto the garden. “Have some tea will you?” Bella said, nudging your cup towards you. You knew better than to drink anything they gave you without properly checking first, and so, you kept silent. 

Just then, the fireplace flashed green and Dolohov and Greyback stepped out, holding the chains of handcuffed James Potter, Sirius Black and Remus Lupin. You knew who had betrayed them, yet felt no sympathy towards them.  The whole lot, especially Sirius, hated you. They thought you were the only thing between Regulus and the rebellion. That you followed the dark lord with admiration. 

Sirius muttered something as he passed you and glared at you before making his way down to your cell, being pushed by Dolohov. “Now that’s over, let’s chat shall we?” Bellatrix smiled. 

“That traitor...that corrupt...I bet she doesn't even feel anything” Sirius grumbled as he paced the floors of the dungeon. 

“What are we going to do?” Remus said, sitting down on the ground next to James. “How did we even get caught? Our plan was foolproof.” 

The conversation was cut short by your screaming coming from the living room. All three of the marauders stood up and craned their necklaces to see what was happening up the stairs. 

“No-no-no-please” You cried.

“I wonder what’s happening.” James said “Maybe we’re getting saved.”

“I doubt it.” Remus said. “Who, coming to save us, would torture someone like that?”

It was hours until the screaming died down. The sound had been so constant, the boys were getting used to it. All three of them were close to passing out from tiredness and injuries when the door burst open and Bellatrix pushed your close to lifeless body into the cell and closed the door. “I’ll see you again tomorrow y/n, make sure to get your beauty sleep, we want you awake and alert for what I have planned.” 

Remus and James immediately ran to your help as you lifted yourself off the floor, using the walls to support you. “Don’t touch me.” You seethed, still angry about their action. Limping, you made your way towards the ledge on the opposite side of the room and hoisted yourself up to lean on the wall. 

What had happened upstairs was almost too much for you to think about and the sting coming from the multiple cuts on your ankles and wrists did not help. Slowly, but surely, you drifted into an uncomfortable sleep, head falling onto your shoulder and laboured breathing steadying. 

Sirius stared at you the entire time. His mind tried to wrap itself around what just happened. What did you do that made them so angry? It was obvious that both of you were still bitter about the problems you had during school, but neither one wanted to think about the other being in the right. 

Everyone being too tired to do more than think, the whole mansion quieted itself and turned to soft snores and breaths. 

You did not wake up the next day until the familiar yet menacing voice of your captive, Bellatrix rang out. “Wakey-wakey! We have so much to talk about y/n, now why don’t you hurry up before I make you.” She said, getting more and more irritated by the second. Finally fed up with your inability to move, she made her way into the cell and grabbed your wrist, dragging your arm up the stairs, reopening your cuts. 

The boys, having been wakened by the racket, could see that you were still on the brink of unconsciousness. That did not stop Bellatrix from pouring water over your head and whatever other means it took to wake you. 

“Finally, she’s alive!” Bella chuckled. “What do you say about telling us where your husband is?”

You shook your head, still recovering from the transportation. 

“You wouldn’t want to lose this pretty hair now, would you? Or what about this ear?” She mused. “Too bad Tom wants all your limbs intact when he gets back. We could have had so much fun.”

“Too bad.” You said 

“That’s okay, we can still have some fun.”

The screaming started up again, fully waking the marauder’s left in the dungeon. “Not again.” James said. 

“I wonder how long she’s been here.” Remus said.

“You forget that she has been here since we were in school moony. She’s still one of them.” Sirius said, planting himself on the ground and drawing a makeshift map with his fingers in the dust. “What we really need to think about is how we’re going to get out of here.”

The light bleeding in from the main floor was beginning to fade in the dungeon. The high-pitched cries had yet to stop, and Padfoot’s plan was lacking in the step where they actually got out of the building. 

Bellatrix made her way down with you behind her, again, unconscious and even more bruised and cut then before. “You guys will have to wait your turn until the dark lord get’s back. Sorry you can’t join in the fun. She said, casting you to the floor and locking up before making her way up the stairs again. 

This time, you did not move or even attempt to pick yourself up. Your black nylons were ripped to shreds and your white blouse was now covered in blood stains. 

“We should help her.” Moony said, standing up and making his way over to you.

“Remember what happened last time.” James said. “She doesn’t want our help.”

“She doesn’t have a choice right now.” Moony responded, picking you up and bringing you towards the group. “Someone get her left hand.” He said, tearing a sash of his shirt off and wrapping it around her wrists. 

Grumbling, Sirius ripped his own shirt, and grabbed your limp hand. A silver wedding band and a green engagement ring stood out to him. “Guys...did Regulus get married?” He said, holding up your hand for them to see. 

“They were together for almost 4 years, it makes sense.” James said. 

All Sirius could think about was his brother getting married. HIs brother, who he grew up with, got married without even telling him. What kind of an older brother was he? 

The three marauder’s ere brought out of their thoughts when the door creaked open, revealing Regulus, holding a pair of keys and his wand, up and ready to fight. He stopped in his tracks and stared at the boys, before looking at you. Slowly, he walked up to the group, lifted you up bridal-style and dropped the keys  in front of him without saying a word. 

Silently, Regulus carried you out of the mansion and apparated to your house. Setting you down and immediately calling a house maid into the room. 

“Y/n needs a medi-witch.” He said to which the maid nodded and swiftly ran out. Regulus moved to the room connected to your bedroom and picked up the baby slowly awakening in the cradle.

When you stepped into the church, everyone was crowded in the back watching Teagardin serve himself from the plates. You made your way to where your father and Mrs. Russell were standing. 

“But friends… the poor soul… that brung in them chicken livers on that beat-up plate… let’s just say I’m inspired to preach on it for a minute before we eat. Sure… some of us are better off than others. And I see… plenty of white meat and red meat laid out on this table. And I suspect that the folks that carried them platters in eat mighty good sometimes.”  Teagardin continued. “But poor people…got to bring what they can afford. So them organs…is a sign to me…telling me that I should, as the new preacher of this church, sacrifice myself. so that y’all can have a share of the good meat tonight. And that’s what I’m going to do, friends. I’m going to eat these organs. ‘Cause I model myself on the good Lord Jesus whenever he gives me the chance. And today…he’s blessed me with another opportunity to follow in his footsteps.” Teagardin picked up Mrs. Russell’s chicken livers and plopped a big scoop onto his plate.

You couldn't believe the nerve this man had, disrespecting Mrs. Russell like that, embarrassing her in front of the whole congregation. Arvin slipped his hand out of yours looking at you with a sorry expression and moved to his grandmother. He was practically fuming and glaring daggers at the preacher. Once Teagardin finished his speech, Arvin, who was holding onto Mrs. Russel’s shoulders, looked back at you and gestured for you to come over. 

“Now, don’t you worry about that pus-gutted blowhard. I bet he ain’t got two nickels to rub together.”

“Don’t worry about him Grandma, you have nothing to be ashamed of.” Arvin said, comforting Mrs. Russell. 

“That’s right, I bet he just wanted it all for himself, did you see how much he piled into his plate?” You added, receiving a thankful smile from Arvin.

After everyone had eaten their share of the meals, Arvin led the way out of the church, not bothering to say goodbye to the new preacher. 

“I have to say Mrs.Russell, your cooking is amazing, don’t you listen to anything that man says.”

“Oh don’t worry about me y/n. It didn’t bother me none.” She said, clearly lying. “Will you and your father be able to join us for dinner tonight?”

“Yes, I’m looking forward to it.” You said, stealing a glance from Arvin. “What should we bring?”

“You only need to bring yourselves, don’t worry about anything.”

“Nonsense! I insist, I can make up a cake in no time.”

“We shouldn’t be too indulgent.” Lenora spoke up. “It’s not right to celebrate for nothing.” 

“Well, we are celebrating something.” Arvin said, “We are celebrating y/n coming to town and to our family.” 

“What about me?” Your dad said, walking towards you and the Russell’s. 

“Don’t think I forgot about our date y/n.” Arvin whispered from beside you while your father and Mrs. Russell talked about the dinner.

“I should hope not.” You responded. “ You would be a pretty bad boyfriend if you did.” 

After setting the details with the Russells, you and your dad headed home to get ready. You spent the rest of the afternoon making a chocolate cake, carefully decorating it to perfection. After all, you wanted to leave a good impression on Arvin’s family. Obviously you knew the whole dating thing was a joke, and it would likely not make it to your families… but nonetheless, Arvin was taking you on a date right after you met his family. Shit felt pretty real to you. 

Once you were finished covering the cake in cream cheese icing, you went upstairs to freshen up. Quickly re-applying your makeup and swapping out your flour-covered skirt for a sage green dress. 

“Y/n, get down here.” your father called, making you look at the time. 

Shit. 

“I’m coming.” you called down, almost tripping over your own feet. Your father was already waiting in the truck with the cake in the middle seat. 

The ride there was to say the least, uncomfortable. 

“So… y/n…”

“Yes?”

“We have not been here yet a day, and you’ve already got a boyfriend?”

“Well Dad- It’s-I-Please don’t tell anyone about it. We haven’t really made it official or anything.”

“Don’t worry about me.” He said “I have better things to do than pay attention to teenage drama.” 

“We both know that’s not true daddy.”

“Welcome! Come in dear.” Mrs. Russell ushered you into the house off of the front porch. 

“Thank you for having us Mrs. Russell.” Your dad said, handing the cake to Lenora.

“This looks amazing y/n.” she said, admiring your handiwork.

“Let’s hope it tastes as good as it looks.” You said.

“I’m sure it tastes even better, if that’s possible.” Arvin said, coming up behind his grandmother, making you blush.

When you were all seated at the table, Arvin, who opted to sit next to you was listening to you talk about your old town. His thigh nudged slightly towards yours, until it rested beside it, making you heat up. 

“It was bigger than knockemstiff, but much less welcoming and homely…” You continued, feeling your body and face heat up. How could such minimal contact get you so riled up? 

The entire dinner, you and your father talked about your past, filling in Mrs. Russell on everything she had missed. After dessert, you and Lenora were doing the dishes, much to Mrs. Russell’s dismay. You worked in peaceful silence, one person filling your thoughts.

“He likes you, you know.” Lenora said, quietly enough for only you to hear. “I bet he’s watching your right now with that same puppy-dog look in his eyes.”

Slowly, you turned your head to face the table that Arvin, your dad and Mrs. Russell were sitting at. Sure enough, he was looking at you, seemingly zoned out in a trance. Those puppy-dog eyes were to die for. 

Turning back to the sink, Lenora smirked at you.

“He’s probably just listening very intently to the conversation at the table.” You said, trying to deflect the conversation off yourself.

“Yes of course.” Lenora said sarcastically, “Because house sales’ puts a love-sick smile on every teenage boy’s face.”

“Oh shut it.” You said blushing, splashing Lenora with water. 

The laughter coming from one side of the kitchen made your father roll his eyes. 

“Those girls and their giggling.” he grumbled.

Arvin was indeed watching you intently as his mind went through different scenarios. You and him as parents. You and him as grandparents. You and him on your wedding day. Something about you was so captivating that he couldn’t keep his eyes off. Finally, after gathering up the courage and picturing what he was going to say, Arvin sneaked up behind you and pulled you outside, saying bye to everyone quickly before jumping into his truck with you seated beside him. 

“To the creek?” You asked

The next day, you woke up bright and early to make your strawberry pie for the new reverend. The entire time you were baking, your mind was on Arvin. Something about him stuck to you and you were excited at the thought of seeing him today at church. Finally, your pie was out of the oven and looked delicious. Before your mom passed away, she taught you how to bake and cook, saying “Every woman should know how to bake, not for men but for themselves. A good roast can fix any problem.” 

“Honey, go change, we have to go soon.” Your father said, bringing you out of your daydreaming of Arvin. 

You quickly ran upstairs and examined your closet with the boy in mind. You chose a blue floral skirt that reminded you of his cap, and paired it with a white blouse that showed off your cinched waist and a little bit of cleavage. 

As you ran down the stairs, your father looked at you with a suspicious look “Who are you dressin’ up for y/n? Cause it sure ain’t the lord.”

“Oh shush daddy, this is what I always wear to church.”

“Whatever you say.” He smirked. “Now let’s hit the road before we’re late.”

The two of us piled into the blue truck, pie in my hand and headed to the town church. 

Once we parked, I set my eyes on Arvin. “Dad, let’s go say hi to the Russells.”

“I’m afraid Mrs. Russell’s gonna tell me to cut my hair.” He said, suddenly looking very scared and fixing his appearance to a point. 

“Don’t worry about it, now let’s go.” I said, stepping out of the truck with the pie and making my way over. “Hello Mrs. Russell.” I said smiling, trying not to stare at Arvin for too long. 

“Hello y/n, where is your father?”

“Don’t tell him I told you this, but he’s scared you’re gonna criticize his appearance.”

“Let me see him, I won’t be too harsh.” She said, spotting your father and making her way towards him, leaving you, Arvin and another girl alone. 

“Hello, I don’t believe I’ve met you.” The girl said. You were worried she was Arvin’s girlfriend or something, but nonetheless was as pleasant as always, if not more. 

“I’m y/n, I just moved into town.”

“I’m Lenora, Arvin’s sister.” She said, making your heart settle. “That pie looks awfully good, did you make it yourself?”

“Yea, I did, my mom taught me when I was little.”

“I wish I knew how to bake, the most I can do is a cake, and they aren’t even that good.”

“Don’t say that I’m sure they're great.” You said smiling, completely forgetting about the boy next to you. 

He most certainly did not forget about you. Zoned out in the way your eyes lit up, how your hair was pinned perfectly, but there were two stray strands framing your face, how your shirt granted him the perfect view of-no he shouldn’t be thinking about this. Arvin quickly snapped out of his trance to see Lenora and you staring at him. 

“I said you look a little red there Arvin, you okay?”

“Y-Yea, I’m just hot out here, that’s all.” He said avoiding eye contact with you in case you saw he was watching you.

Mrs. Russell came by with your dad and said “Alright, let’s head in now that Henry looks half decent.” Your father grumbled and kept his head down, following you into the church. 

There was a line of people presenting their home goods to the new preacher. The Russells went ahead of you while you were not-so secretly staring at Arvin. Once he turned back, you quickly turned your head as slyly as you could. When you looked back at him, his eyes were still on you and your cheeks were starting to heat up under his gaze. The sound of the preacher speaking brought both of you out of the gaze to turn to two fingers stuck into Mrs. Russell’s chicken liver. He lifted his fingers and put them into his mouth, sucking on them. You cringed at the sight and had to turn away once he caught your eye and stared right at you. Feeling incredibly uncomfortable, you fidgeted and looked to Arvin who was close to glaring at the preacher. Arvin followed his gaze to see that he was staring at, and once he saw you staring at him looking uneasy, he was about ready to start a fight. 

Neither of you heard what Preacher Teagardin said next, only watching the other, waiting for who knows what. Mrs. Russell and Lenora stepped away, out of the line, making Arvin follow them while still looking back between you and Teagardin. 

You stepped up with your father and stretched your hands out, holding out your pie towards the man. “Now, what do we have here?” He asked slowly.

“Strawberry pie, sir.” You answered, unsure if he was talking about you or the pie.

“It looks absolutely delicious.” he answered, still keeping his eyes fixed on you, making you very uncomfortable.   

“My y/n can bake like no other.” Your father boasted, clearly unaware of your discomfort. Someone who did notice, was Arvin. He was standing on the opposite side of the room, watching your interaction with the creepy reverend. Before he could think about what he was doing, Arvin was making his way towards you while Teagardin was holding your shoulder rubbing it in circles. 

“Sorry to interrupt.” Arvin said as he neared you and the preacher. “But can I steal y/n away for a second?” 

“I’m not surprised you have a boyfriend y/n, a pretty little girl like you must have all the boys chasin’ for your hand.” Teagardin said, smiling at Arvin.

“I didn’t know you were datin’ anyone.” Your dad said sternly “I guess that’s why you wanted to dress up so pretty.”

“I-well…” You were unsure what to say, not wanting to overstep any boundaries.

“Yea, I’m sorry we didn’t tell you sir, I wanted to keep it a secret so nobody would pick on y/n.” Arvin said, grabbing your hand and squeezing it reassuringly. “Well, my grandma really wanted to talk to y/n about something, she said it was important.” 

You didn’t need anymore convincing to quickly place your pie in the reverend’s hands and walk off with your “boyfriend”

“Thank you for that.” You said quietly into Arvin’s ear, waiting to explain until you were alone. Leading you outside the church’s doors, your hand was still in Arvin’s.

“How did you know I needed help?” You asked, amazed that Arvin came when he did.

Arvin didn’t want to admit that he had been watching you and so he just said “I noticed something was off with the man and didn’t want you to be left alone with him.” Which wasn’t a lie at all, but still, not the whole truth.

Suddenly feeling very sick, you thought about how the man had a wife and how he was much older than you. Next you thought about yourself. You thought about how you unbuttoned your blouse an extra button, hoping for the attention of Arvin. This was your fault, and you felt disgusted with yourself. 

Noticing that you looked less than happy, Arvin, still cradling your hand, pulled you up to a standing position and smiled. “Seeing as I’m your boyfriend now, it’s my job to make you happy again.”

“And how do you think you’re gonna do that?” You asked with a smile.

“By walking back in there, head held high, eating some of your delicious strawberry pie and then, going for a drive with me up to the creek.” He said

“Arvin Russell, are you askin’ me on a date?” 

“Seeing as I’m your boyfriend, I figured we should go on one sooner than later.

It was a sunny Sunday afternoon when you were driving down a dirt road, radio on, windows down, and every belonging you had, stuffed into the back. Your mom had just passed away from cancer and your dad decided to uproot and move to Coal River, West Virginia. That’s where your dad grew up, and he wanted to go live in his childhood home. And so, there you were, pulling into the driveway of a white picket fence, easily one of the nicer ones in the town.

Stepping out of the car, your dad asked “So… whad’ya think?”

“It’s a house for sure” you muttered under your breath.

“I remember playing in this yard every night with the Russell boy down that street.” He continued. “I wonder what ever happened to him.” 

You started walking around the house, inspecting your new area. There were houses on either side, far enough for a pool, you thought to yourself. Like that would ever happen. 

“Y/n, come here and help unload this stuff. Most of its all your clothes anyway.” Your dad called. You couldn’t bring too much from back home cause dad didn't wanna go back another round to fit the rest into the truck. And so, you had to choose your most valuable possessions and cut down at least a third of your closet. 

After helping bring the boxes into the front hall, both you and your dad were famished and didn’t have anything in the fridge yet. “I saw a general store down that road, down there” Your father told you. “Take some money outta my wallet and go pick us up something for lunch and dinner.” You took the cash and made your way over to the store. 

When you stepped in, you were met with a boy in a white shirt and a blue cap, and an old lady in a simple dress. Both were looking into the window of meat.

“Grandma quit worryin’ about it, he’s just a preacher.” the boy said as you made your way into the store. 

“Hello there, what can I do for you?” The man working at the front asked, making the two other customers turn to look at you. 

“I’ll just take some bacon please.” You said.

“Alright, I'll get that started for you.” He said with a smile. 

You caught eye contact with the boy in the blue hat and felt your cheeks heat up. You didn’t not have any experience with boys, but the little that you did was all sub-par, in your opinion. Something about Arvin made you want to walk right up and kiss him on the lips. Kiss him and keep kissing him until you can’t feel your lips anymore. 

“Are you new in town?” The lady standing next to him asked. “I don’t believe I’ve seen you around.”

“Yes ma’am, my dad and I just moved into the white house a few blocks down.”

“The l/n’s finally sold it, did they?’ She muttered.

“Actually, no, we moved back.”You said. “I’m y/n l/n, you must know my dad.” You introduced yourself, sticking your hand out. 

“Is that really you y/n? I remember when you were a baby, you’ve grown up so fast.” She said holding your hand with both of hers. Your eyes turned to the boy behind her who was already staring at you.

“Oh, I’m sorry, you probably don’t even remember me.” the lady said. “I’m Emma Russell and this is my grandson Arvin Russell. She let go of your hands and Arvin stuck his out for you to shake. To be honest, you could have let go of his hand a little earlier than you did, but it was so warm and you were lost in his eyes to even notice. 

“Nice to meet you.” You said quietly.

“Y-Yea you too y/n.” he responded.

“Well then…” Mrs. Russell said, cutting the tension with a knowing smile. “You must come over to our house with your mother and father tomorrow night. I haven’t seen Henry or Sarah since they moved with you.”

“I-I’m afraid my mother passed away a couple months ago.” You said, unsure of what to say next.

“Oh, dear I am terribly sorry.” she said quietly. “She was an amazing woman.”

“Here is your bacon,” The worker said, walking in cheerily and breaking up the conversation. 

“Thank you.” You said, accepting the package and passing a bill to the boy working there.

“I assume you will be coming to church tomorrow y/n” Mrs. Russell said, trying to make you forget about their last topic. 

“Of course, my dad and I will be there.”

“There’s a new preacher comin’ into town. He’ll be expecting a platter from every family for the potluck.” She said expectantly.

“Well, I don't think my dad can cook for the life of him, so I guess that’s up to me.” You laughed.

“I’ll let you get to that then” She said, patting your shoulder and turning back to the counter. You smiled at Arvin who had been very quiet the whole conversation, who nodded back and turned quickly to the meat section. Your heart dropped, but quickly picked itself back up again reminding yourself that you had been in this town for only an hour. 

Making your way to the back of the store, you were unaware of the boy watching you, unsure of what he should say or do. You picked out some flour, eggs, strawberries and anything else you could think of to make a pie with, and made your way to the front.

“So chicken liver it is.” Arvin said before noticing you coming towards him, and slowly making his way out.

After a long week of rest (and not rest wink wink) and relaxation from both sides of the couple, Aurora was beginning to see the bright side of her situation. Sure, her whole life had crumbled down to ashes in under a day, what was her home only two weeks ago was now a place that she could never go back to and she had just lost the one thing that had comforted her for months on end, but Aurora felt like she was under a spell. She couldn’t help but smile and feel giddy whenever the prospect of a new life popped into her head. A life specifically with her new mate, one that had nothing to do with Helion and the horrible life she tried to forget. 

“Why are you so smiley?” A groggy Azriel asked, laying across from Aurora on the bed. The sunlight was streaming in through the open window, and there was a peaceful aura to the room. 

“I just feel like I’m dreaming” Aurora replied. “I feel as if I’ll wake up and all this will be gone, so I have to enjoy it as much as possible while I am still here.” 

Azriel reached out and pulled Aurora’s body flush against his. He slowly kissed her on the forehead and wrapped his hands to hug her. 

“Well…” Azriel whispered in her ear “If I wake up and find out I was dreaming, I would storm Helion’s mansion to find you. And If you weren’t there, I would search the ends of the earth to find you.”

“Well what if you made me up? What if I’m just a figment of your imagination?” Aurora mused.

“My mind is not imaginative enough to envision an angel such as yourself my dear.”

“You sure know how to romance a girl.”

“I’ve had more than enough time to practice.” 

“So… what’s next? As much I would love to stay in this cabin forever with you, I’m sure you have all sorts of super secret shadowsinger things to do back in the night court.”

“Well, we could start by flying back to our home.”

“Our?” Aurora whispered, tearing up. 

“That’s right, now that I have you, I refuse to separate from you once.”

“Oh Azriel.” She cried, burying her face into his chest. “Let’s go home.”

*Time Skip*

After gathering everything from the small cabin, Azriel grabbed up his mate and winnowed his way to the house of wind. “Don’t worry. You’ll love it.” He whispered in Aurora’s ear just before they landed in a bedroom of the house. 

“I’ll let you get settled in and changed.” Azriel said, holding Aurora’s hands. “I’ll be waiting downstairs when you’re ready to meet everyone. 

Azriel made his way down to a waiting Rhysand. “How is she?”

“Better than I anticipated.” Azriel said, 

“100 gold pieces” Cassian call out, walking up to the pair.

Confused, Rhysand says “What are you going on about now Cassian?”

“I bet both of you 100 gold pieces… that Nesta rips Aurora to shreds.”

“Do you understand what she has been through?” Rhysand lectures, throwing his hands up in the air. “Go tell Nesta to be nice.”

“200 that Aurora wins.” Azriel jumps in, smirking at Cassian. “You have no idea what you’re getting into.”

“What is the matter with both of you?!” Rhysand bellows

“What is it this time?” Feyre calls walking in with Amren. 

“They’re betting on Nesta vs Aurora!” Rhysand explains “Unbelievable am I right?”

“Put me down for Nesta.” Amren says “Poor girl, she is going to be in tears before she can even say hello.”

“Well I have faith in Aurora. She’s tough.” Feyre adds.

“You too?!” Rhysand shakes his head.

“Oh loosen up Rhys, she’ll love it here. Stop worrying.” Feyre says as she takes Rhysand’s hand and moves him next to her. 

Aurora was in her room, looking at herself in the mirror. The night court’s colours looked good on her, and she finally felt at home. Pushing down, her nervousness on meeting everyone, she stepped out of the room and began down the large staircase. Azriel was at the bottom smiling at her, together with her new family. 

Once she got down to the bottom, Azriel gave her a quick kiss and pulled her waist against his. “Aurora, you already know Cassian, Rhysand and Feyre.” Azriel said as she gave each person a hug. “This is Amren. The second-in-command.”

“Nice to meet you. I was always curious what Azriel’s mate would be like. I hope you have a better sense of humor than him.” She said nudging Azriel.

“I’d like to think so.” Aurora said laughing at her mate’s rolled eyes. “I talk more than him if that’s a bonus,”

“Definitely.” Amren said before Nesta walked in.

“What’s going on? She coldly said. “Cassian told me to come down. This better be important”

“We’d like you to meet Aurora, Azriel’s mate.” Rhysand announced. 

Nesta looked Aurora up and down, slowly walking towards her with a stern look.

“Here it comes.” Cassian muttered, earning a subtle pinch from Feyre.

“Hello.” Aurora said, not quite sure how to approach the disdainful woman. “I’ve heard so much about you from Feyre. It’s so great to finally meet you.”

“Hmm.” Nesta simply murmured. 

“I’ve heard the library here is quite extensive. I’m excited to see it.” Aurora said, trying to relieve the tension.

“Come with me, I’ll show you where it is.” she said before walking away. Not waiting to see if Aurora was following. 

“Well I guess I’ll see you guys later.” She said, separating herself from Azriel, giving him a kiss on the cheek and speeding after Nesta.

“What just happened?” Cassian asked dumbfounded.

Chuckling, Azriel patted him on the back. “Looks like none of us won.” He said and walked away. 

“I think that’s the most positivity that I have ever seen in Nest at once.” Feyre said, still amazed at what just happened. 

“If Nesta likes her, that’s a good sign… right?” Amren said

“Azriel sure met his match.” Rhysand said before they all separated.

Synopsis: After an accident caused by the marauders, Y/N and Lily are forced to bunk with them. Fluff ensues. 

It was the middle of winter at Hogwarts, just a week before the Christmas break. Inside the gryffindor girls’ dormitory were two freezing girls. 

“Y/N” Lily whispered from her bed “Y/N are you awake?” 

“Of course I’m awake lily. There's no way I can sleep in this temperature.” 

“How many covers do you have?” 

“3” you laughed

“This is insane.” She said “if only that stupid James wasn’t so headset on doing the most elaborate things to ask me out, we wouldn’t be in this situation.”

That afternoon, as a profession of his love, James decided to hop on his broom with Sirius and fly up to the girl’s window to serenade Lily. Needless to say, they had been fooling around during the singing and through a series of events, managed to crack a hole in the glass right between the two girl’s windows. 

“Well I think you secretly like him.” You snickered 

“Oh shut up!” Lily said, throwing a pillow at you.

“I don’t have enough strength to deal with you right now. But just you wait, once I’m no longer numb, you are going to get the hardest pillow you have ever felt, right in your face.”

“Knowing you Y/N, I believe it.”

“Some of us are trying to sleep here” a girl across the room yelled from inside her curtained bed. 

“You know what, I am fed up with this. This is their fault, they should have to deal with it.” You said, standing up wrapped in your softest blanket. 

“What are you doing now?” Lily said, already used to your “amazing” plans.

“WE are going.” You announced, pulling Lily up and out of bed, marching her out of the door. 

After a lot of dragging, you finally made it to the marauder’s door. 

“What are we doing?” Lily complained as you knocked on the door. 

Slowly the door opened to see a disheveled looking Remus at the door. His face slightly reddened at the sight of you and you would never admit it, but yours did as well. 

“Y/N…” he said

“Ahem” Lily grunted

“And lily of course, what are the two of you doing here?” 

“James and Sirius owe us a warm room.” You stated.

Chuckling Remus opened the door. “Prongs, I told you it was a bad idea, they’re here for revenge.” He called out to James’ bed.

Peeking out of his curtains, James widely grinned at Lily, who was standing at the door, wrapped in your blanket and shivering. “Lily, if you wanted to get into my bed so bad, you could have just asked.”

“Oh shut up. Just for tonight, for the sake of my chattering teeth.” She grumbled, walking up to James’ bed and crawling inside.

“Hey there, no funny business Lily.” You called out earning a chuckle from Remus and a death threat from Lily.

Looking to Remus, your cheeks began to redden even more.  “Well, Peter is out cold, and I’m not sure if you want to go with Sirius, but fair warning, he tends to snore like an animal.” 

“I do not” a sleepy sounding Sirius groans from his bed. 

“I’m afraid that I have already heard you from a first hand experience when we were on the train, Padfoot. And I can assure you that Remus is not lying.”

“Fine then, I don’t want to share with you anyway Y/N, I’m sure you have terrible morning breath anyway.” 

“Well… looks like you’re stuck with me” Remus said, gesturing to his bed.

Slowly walking over, you no longer felt cold, in fact it felt as if there was a furnace inside you, making you red all over.

As you slipped into the cozy covers, Remus closed the curtains and you were left in complete darkness. The two of you uncomfortably shifted around for a bit until your head landed on his chest and his hands were on your back.

“I’m sorry what James did to your window. I told him it wasn’t a good idea, really I’m surprised he didn’t get caught.” Remus whispered 

“It’s okay, it’s perfect now.” You slowly yawned out, being consumed by sleep. 

“Hey Y/N, I have to tell you something” Remus said, pulling you closer. “I-I have wanted to tell you this for a while now.”

With your head on his chest, you could feel his heart racing and in turn made your quicken. 

“Y/N…” he breathed out.

You looked up to see him staring right at you, seemingly very nervous. 

“Y/N I’m not sorry your window broke.” He whispered “Because if it didn’t you would still be in your own bed and not here. And you would still go on not knowing that I have feelings for you, and I would go on not being able to stop thinking about you, thinking about how much I want to spend time with you and kiss you and-and -“

“Remus” you stopped him, his face full of worry. “I would have eventually confessed to liking you, in fact I’m surprised you were the first one. I am not very good at keeping secrets.”

“Wha-“ 

And with that you kissed him slowly. Pulling away, you rested your head back on his chest and wordlessly went to sleep. 

The next morning you woke up to a sleeping Remus, holding you flush with his body. In response to your moving, Remus woke up and smiled at you.

“Padfoot’s not wrong. I do have terrible morning breath.” You said.

A = Attractive (What do they find attractive about the other?)

Azriel loves his chest. As weird as that sounds, he loves when you lay your head on it and how you always listen to his heartbeat. 

He loves your face. The expressions you make when you’re sleeping, kissing your cheeks and forehead, he loves it all. He especially loves it when you stare at him and when he stares at you. 

 B = Baby (Do they want a family? Why/Why not?)

Azriel eventually wants kids, but at the moment, just wants you to himself for a bit. Because of his childhood, he wants to prove that he can do better than what he was put through and make sure he is ready when it does happen. The thought of being that responsible for someone secretly scares him. He just wants to be the best dad possible and give his children the best life he can. On the other hand, the thought of you as a mother is perfect and he knows that you will make an amazing mom. Inside, Azriel is still worried that you wouldn’t want to have that sort of commitment to him, but eventually accepts that you feel the same that he does about you.

 C = Cuddle (How do they cuddle?)

Azriel loves to be the big spoon and wrap you within his enormous wings. The two of you are so drastically different in size, when he holds you, your entire body is covered. Though he would never admit it to anyone, he also loves it when you just lay your head on his chest and hold him. 

 D = Dates (What are dates with them like?)

Azriel always tries to do the most for dates in a personal sense. Something simple but at the same time very romantic. Aside from the frequent dinners on the roof or trips to different restaurants in velaris, Azriel plans different adventures and events for just the two of you. Whether it be picnics in the park under a willow tree with a full course meal and wine, or star gazing on the top of a mountain laying on a blanket, he always comes up with something new and elaborate.

Azriel instantly felt a deep connection with you the first time he saw you. Being the shy boi he is, whenever he would see you, he would feel amazing but tried to keep his cool and stay level headed. While talking or spending time with him, his feelings towards you became more and more strong, but he was unsure if you felt the same. The first time you kissed and the mating bond snapped into place, he knew he loved you.

 G = Gentle (Are they gentle? If so, how?)

Azriel is the most gentle it is possible to be. He always puts you first and makes sure you are always comfortable, happy and well. By constantly checking in and simple shows of affection throughout the day, he shows his soft side. 

 H = Hands (How do they like to hold hands?)

Azriel likes to hold your hand in his or on his lap whenever you are sitting or lounging. When you are walking, he stands close to you but doesn't hold your hand as much. Instead he sometimes holds you by the waist and spreads his wings a little farther so that they will cover your body. 

 I = Impression (What was their first impression?)

The first time he saw you, Azriel thought you were the most beautiful person, inside and out. He saw that you were kind hearted as well as a picture of poise and elegance. 

 J = Jealousy (Do they get jealous?)

Azriel gets jealous when anyone looks at you, he knows you would never do anything to hurt him, but he still stiffens at the thought of anyone else wanting you. He also gets frustrated when Cassian flirts with you. You will often play back and pretend to be madly in love with the illyrian until it gets too much for Azriel and he takes you away playfully while you  laugh with Cassian. 

 K = Kiss (How do they kiss? Who initiated the first kiss?)

Azriel likes to take long and soft kisses, often exploring your face and neck in the process.He also loves small cheek, forehead and nose kisses, either giving or receiving. He made the first move after you had been talking for a bit and the mating bond was so close to snapping in place, he could almost feel it push the two of you together. Thankfully, you kissed back, and instantly knew the two of you were mates.

 L = Love (Who says ‘I love you’ first?)

Even though the mating bond was in place, Azriel was still scared about your feelings. He didn’t want to say anything too soon in case you didn’t feel the same, so you ended up saying it first. Once you did, he immediately said it back and was enormously happy.

 M = Memory (What’s their favourite memory together?)

His favourite memory with you was when you went on a walk around a scenic park at dusk and it started pouring rain while you were out. Both your clothes got drenched before he had the chance to get you out of the storm, and it was too late when he was ready to. There was constant lightning filling the sky, and it would be dangerous to fly. The two of you ran hand in hand to a large tree on the side of the path and took shelter before winnowing back to your house. 

 N = Nickel (Do they spoil? Do they buy the person they love everything?)

Azriel knows you don’t need or want expensive things, so instead he chooses more thoughtful and personal things to give you. Unable to help it, with his enormous wealth, he still buys you the occasional gift just because.

 O = Orange (What colour reminds them of their other half?)

Light dusty pink reminds Azriel of you. You are so kind and heartfelt, he thinks the colour suits you perfectly. It goes so well with the Night court’s signature navy blue and the dynamic of the two colours describes your relationship perfectly.

 P = Pet names (What pet names do they use?)

Azriel will call you dear and love, but doesn’t go for the sickeningly sweet pet names unless he wants something from you or is being ironic. Then he opts for goddess divine or  honey bun.

 Q = Quaint (What is their favourite non-modern thing?)

Azriel loves reading with you. He loves to read and you being there makes it so much better. Sometimes you will play with his hair or he will mindlessly draw circles on your hand. Even though it is silent the whole time, it is perfect just to have you near while you both enjoy something you like. 

 R = Rainy Day (What do they like to do on a rainy day?)

On rainy days, when the two of you are free, Azriel will often prepare an indoor date for just the two of you. Things like preparing a fancy dinner and dessert together and eating it in your finest cutlery, wearing a ball gown with jewelry and him a suit. Or setting up a blanket and picnic food on the porch while it pours just a few feet away. Rainy Days are like breaks from your everyday life when you can just calm down and relax with Azriel.

 S = Sad (How do they cheer themselves/others up?)

When Azriel is upset, you will always make him feel better. Though he never explicitly states he is upset, you can always tell by how he doesn’t talk much and just wants to be with you. When you are sad, you do the same, but Azriel always wants to know what the problem is and instantly tries to fix it once you have calmed down.  

 T = Talking (What do they like to talk about?)

The two of you love to dream about your future and picture how things will be. The details can get so specific, from talking about what colour your room will be to baby names. Every so often, when the mood is right, Azriel talks about his past and family, and you about yours, but your conversations tend to be light and positive. 

 U = Unencumbered (What helps them relax?)

Whenever Azriel is uptight or upset, you instantly make him feel better, but when he can’t get to you, or you are busy, he reads.

 V = Vaunt (What do they like to show off? What are they proud of?)

Azriel is not the sort of person to boast about things, but when he is with the inner circle, the topic of his wingspan sometimes comes up. Instead of defending himself for everything, you often will say something in his place, though sometimes backhandedly slapping him which makes everyone laugh. 

 W = Wedding (When, how, where do they propose?)

Azriel proposes after you find out he is your mate. He waits until starfall and after everyone has resigned from dancing and drinking, he takes you to go star-watching on the top of the mountain and proposes at the height of the brightness. 

X = Xylophone (What’s their song?)

You and Azriel listen to classical music all the time, but the carnival of animals: The swan really reminds you of the other. 

 Y = Yes (Do they ever think of getting married/proposing?)

Azriel knew he wanted to marry you once the mating bond clicked into place. Before that he was very unsure about your feelings and what your relationship was, but once it happened, he knew. 

 Z = Zebra (If they wanted a pet, what would they get?)

Azriel would want something that could watch you and protect you when he was out on missions. Though he knows you are entirely capable of taking care of yourself, he still worries over you and wants to always be ready for anything.

A/N- I’m not super comfortable writing smut, but just imagine it happens in between chapters for the sake of the story. 

In her mind, Aurora understood her situation. Helion would likely throw a fit and maybe punch a few holes in his wall, but once he knew that he no longer had an heir, he would likely not pursue him. It almost hurt Aurora’s pride, knowing that he would not search for her. She didn’t want him to, but they were married after all. To recognize that there was no deeper attraction more than just appearance really made her reflect on her life. Now that she had found her mate, she finally had something to live for. Still in Azriel’s arms, she decided that she would no longer allow Helion’s previous grip on her life to affect the new one she was determined to create. 

“I’m sorry” Azriel whispered into her ear.

“There’s nothing to be sorry for. It wasn’t your fault, there was nothing you could do.” She responded with her tearing eyes still buried in Azriel’s shoulder. “I was stupid to think a baby would last with me in that house.”

“Don’t say that. This was not your fault.”

Aurora wanted to say something, but all she could do was squeeze as hard as she could until the lump in her throat went away on its own. 

Azriel’s voice wavered and was course as he spoke. “I- There’s something I need to tell you.”

By the wavering in his voice, Aurora already knew what he was going to say. “I know.” She said.

“You know?”

“I know.” And with that Aurora slowly lifted herself off Azriel and grabbed his hand. Confused, Azriel let her lead him to the kitchen. Leaving him against the doorframe, she went and opened up the cupboards. Still wondering what she was doing, Azriel watched Aurora with curiosity as she went on her tippy toes to reach a can that sat alone, covered in cobwebs. As she brought the bottle up to her face and blew off the dust coating. Understanding clicked inside Azriel and his throat tightened. 

“I hope you like corn because that’s the only edible thing in this place” Aurora said nonchalantly. Unable to talk, Azriel stared wide-eyed at the gesture. “I mean if you absolutely hate corn or are severely allergic, I guess we can wait. I can’t promise I can make anything much better than this but-” she continued rambling.

“-Aurora” Azriel muttered. This made her stop talking and look into her mate’s eyes. “You have no idea how long I have been waiting for you.” And with that he tenderly kissed Aurora slowly and gently. “Corn-or a five course meal, I don’t care.”

“Well then you better let me go so I can make this damn corn.” She smiled, nose resting against Azriel’s. “And if you throw up, don’t blame me.”

“I don’t think you can get food poisoning from corn Aurora.”

“Who knows what is living in this, it looks like it has been here since the beginning of time.”

“I wouldn’t be surprised. This cabin is a hideaway for the Court of Dreams. Cassian has often spent weeks hiding out here from a pissed-off Amren and I sometimes stay up here for a weekend if I’m doing some work in the area. Between the two of us, there aren’t many groceries being bought regularly.”

“I can see that.” Aurora said as she moved out from under Azriel’s arms. Lighting the burner, she placed a pot filled with water over the element and poured in the corn. It all came out with one big shlop and resembled nothing like corn. Both Aurora and Azriel looked at eachother. “You can not eat that Azriel. You will die. Let’s just wait.”

“I don’t care if I hurl up all my guts, as I said before, I will wait no longer.” 

“Have fun dying.” Aurora said as she continued to stir the pot until the food looked somewhat like chunky soup. Not 10 minutes later of comfortable silence and neck kisses, Aurora turned the fire off and scooped up a pile of whatever she just made into a bowl. Trying her hardest not to laugh, she grabbed a spoon, and handed it to Azriel before hoisting herself up onto the counter. 

Azriel lifted a big spoonful of the muck up to his mouth. As he put it into his mouth, Aurora couldn't help but giggle. He retracted the spoon and held the mixture in his mouth. Unable to swallow, he lifted his eyes to Aurora who burst out laughing. “Spit it out! You’ll make yourself sick.” Azriel slowly swallowed the chunks and coughed into his hand.

“No.”

“What do you mean no!?”

“I mean, no, I’m going to finish this like my life depends on it.”

“Azriel, no. I don’t care if you don’t eat it, at least you know not to ask me not to cook from now on.”

“I won’t hear any more of it, my beautiful mate made me this, and I intend to finish it.” Aurora blushed at the compliment, but before he could take another spoonful, she crashed her lips into his and distracted him while her hands worked at the bowl, prying it out of his hands. Once his hands automatically gave up and moved to her cheeks, Aurora jerked off the counter to the sink and poured it out. 

“Hey! I was going to eat that.”

“I know. That’s why I did it. I’m saving you from yourself.”

“You monster.” Azriel said as he grabbed Aurora by the waist and pulled her close.”You played dirty.” 

“Get used to it.”

A/N: I had a lot of trouble writing this chapter, so I tried not to be disrespectful in any way and leave it as light as possible. Most of the details are left to the imagination and can be imagined in many different 

Right after she left the room, Aurora ran as fast as she could to her library. Tonight she was not going to be spared from any pain, and she had to get out. Closing the door and locking it, she hoped she would be safe. Helion had once vowed to never go in the library and give Aurora her space, but she had no doubt in her mind that would not stop him tonight.

Back in the living room, Helion kicked back a glass of a strong smelling alcohol and got up from his chair. “I trust you all can see yourselves to your rooms.” He said “I don’t think I will be back down this evening.” As he started moving towards the staircase, Azriel jumped up, predatory instincts kicking in. Rhysand stepped in front of him. “Helion, I cannot stand by and watch you do this to yourself and your wife. This behaviour is not acceptable.”

“I take no orders from you Rhysand, this is my court and my household. I shall do what I want. And I’m afraid I cannot let you interfere tonight” He said as a gust of wind pushed the doors to the sitting room closed and made a wall of wind in front of it. Immediately, Azriel charged into the door shoulder first only to be thrown stumbling back by the swirling winds. 

“It’s no use Az, he’s a high lord. You can’t get through this.”

“What do you expect me to do?” He gritted out. Feyre and Cassian we’re currently testing out the windows only to find identical borders of wind blocking the exit.

“Do what you need to do, but we aren’t getting out of this with brute force. Feyre can try getting us out using her wind powers from Helion, but we need to think clearly.”

As the faint screams and shouts start from the second floor, Azriel’s eyes widen and he slowly moves to the couch. “Feyre…” 

“I’m on it” she said sympathetically.

The near silent screams filled the quiet atmosphere and deepened the pressure. Cassian and Rhysand were standing near a window, talking quietly about possible plans. Feyre worked and studied the wind wall in front of the glass doors. And Azriel was crouched on the couch, head sulked in his knees knowing he is useless. 

Suddenly the winds stopped as the cries dyed down to a deadly silence. Azriel jumped up and without hesitation ran up to the library as fast as lightning. The rest of the company followed closely behind and as they got to the door, Azriel was already running towards the locked giant wood doors. 

With a single push, the door to the library heaved open, lock snapping in two. Aurora was laying on the ground, in a ball covered in blood and tears. Her dress was ripped in pieces and was now stained everywhere. Helion stood above her, wiped his forehead of sweat and looked up at Azriel. The eyes that looked back at him were those of an animal ready to pounce. Both males stared each other down, both panting and expectant. Slowly, Azriel walked forward, keeping his eyes on Helion. He stopped above his mate, glanced down at her, looked back up to Helion and dropped to the floor. Carefully, Azriel picked up Aurora, and carried her to the window. From there, he looked a last time at Helion with disgust and hatred in his eyes, and flew out the open window. 

“He may spare you Helion, but I will give you no such decency” Rhysand said just before he punched the Lord out cold. 

Azriel flew over the day court, every so often looking down to check on his mate. Her eyes were open, but were distant and dazed. She didn’t move since being picked up and hadn’t said anything the entire time. In the thick of the forest was a small cabin known to only the inner circle. Much like Rhysands old home, it was small and homely. Only filled with a kitchen sitting room bedroom and bathroom, it was small and a perfect getaway for someone not wanting to be seen. 

Azriel opened the door and laid Aurora down on the large bed. “Are you okay? A medic is on it’s way.” He whispered. Aurora turned towards Azriel who was kneeling beside the bed. She grabbed his hand that rested on the edge of the mattress and let a single tear fall down her cheek. They stayed like this for a long time, Aurora almost falling asleep.

There was a knock on the door, and Azriel lightly pulled his hand away and left the room. When he came back, there was an older fae with him. Her cheekbones were sharp and frizzy grey hair was tied into a loose braid. “You will have to wait out here.” She said in a frail voice. “I need my space.” Azriel nodded his head, and creeped out. Aurora was left in the room, spread out on the bed. The lady pulled out a large bag of medical instruments and tools. Poking and Squeezing, she set to work on Aurora’s limp body. Time flying by, fazed out, Aurora didn’t move when she packed up. She walked out the door to a waiting Azriel resting on the wall. Quickly, he got up and towered over the old woman. “She healed most of her wounds already but…”

“But what?” Azriel asked nervously.

Aurora didn’t need to hear what the medic said to know. “The baby is gone” The whole world seemed like it went silent for both Aurora and Azriel. Neither heard the door close as the Medic fae made her way out. Azriel stood frozen processing the information. The door to the bedroom slowly creaked open and out paced Aurora with watery eyes. Her dress was ripped to shreds, barely covering her torso and The flowers that once complimented the bodice were squished and wilted.Without looking at Azriel, she stepped towards him and embraced him, arms moving under Azriel’s and crawling up his back, under his wings. Compared to Aurora, Azriel was giant, he fully engulfed her and held her tight.

After the kiss in the greenhouse, both Azriel and Aurora snuck inside, clothes drenched in fountain water. The sun was beginning to set and lit up the sky with pinks and purples. The two  departed in the hall to go change. “I have a surprise.” Aurora whispered into Azriel’s ear before running to her room. Azriel stood, still processing what just happened, in awe. Cassian came running up the stairs, a smile growing as he saw Azriel leaning against the wall opposite Aurora’s room. 

“So… is she a good kisser?”

“She’s my mate.” Azriel said breathy, as if still not believing it himself.

“Oh shit dude... What are you going to do?”

“I don’t know?”

“Does she know”

“I think so.”

“Az...she’s married.” 

Sinking down to the ground on the wall, Azriel said “I know.”

Cassian came and sat next to his friend. “Well, it's obvious she’s not in love with him, and it’s more than obvious she is as infatuated with you as you are with her.”

“But she’s having a baby. She can’t just pack up and move to Velaris.”

“Talk to her. And while you are waiting, go change, you are dripping everywhere.” At that, both Illyrians rose off the floor and made their ways to their rooms.

Azriel dressed in his finest suit and made his way down for dinner. The table was once again set perfectly and Helion was already sitting alone. 

“Don’t just stand there, come in shadowsinger.” Helion said. Reluctantly, Azriel made his way to his usual spot next to Helion. “You left rather early today, where did you run off to?” 

“I’m not quite used to the day court sun, so I just went to rest in my room for a bit.”

“That’s all?” Helion asked, taking a sip of his wine. Not answering, both males stared the other down. After the mating bond clicked in, Azriel felt more protective and irritative. Feyre walked in the room in a navy night court dress with Rhysand and Cassian at her side. Almost sure she heard a growl coming from Azriel, she took a seat and started a conversation to relieve the tension. 

“Your house is beautiful Helion, I’m so glad we could get a full tour from someone who knows it’s history so well.”

Rhysand smiled, clearly trying and failing to keep something inside his and Feyre’s mind.

“It’s too bad Az had a headache, he would have loved to hear about the past Lords of the day court’s horses. Maybe when you are free, you could give him a private tour of everything he missed.” Cassian said, earning a side glare from Azriel. 

“I’m glad to hear Azriel would be interested in such things, most people find the topic boring. Well seeing as we will have to wait for my wife, and knowing her, she will take forever just to look the exact same as usual.” Azriel cringed at the slap at his mate and controlled his thoughts, ready for whatever would be thrown at him. 

“Well, the first lord of the day cout had a beautiful horse…” Helion began, recalling facts and names off the top of his head about the smallest details. The distant sound of clicking of heels was heard and Azriel’s head bobbed up from his look like you’re listening position. Slowly, the footsteps descended down the stairs until they reached the bottom and entered the dining room. 

Aurora was wearing a thin blue dress with spaghetti straps and flowers sewn into the fabric. Her arms and cleavage were uncovered, revealing her purple bruises and permanent scars. Gracefully, Aurora made her way to the end of the table and looked directly at Helion’s furious face. 

Ignoring his guests wide open mouths, he said “Where did you get the dress darling it is not one of the ones I approved.”

“I made it.” she answered sweetly.

“Made it out of what?”

“My old wedding dress.”

“I would like you to go and change right now. Come back when you are ready to act in your place.” He bellowed.

Unsure if they should intervene, the night court members stayed silent. Aurora put her hand on Feyres, assuring her she had everything under control.

“No, I rather like this dress. I think I shall stay in it.” Aurora responded, ending the conversation with a smile and started to eat. Once everyone else had begun eating, Aurora dared a look at Azriel. He was staring right at her with a hidden grin and Aurora smiled, squeezing the shadow that held her hand. The entire meal was sat in silence, no doubt conversions took place in the minds of Feyre and Rhysand, which Cassian thought was rather unfair, as his personality was not used to sitting in the uncomfortable silence.

After the plates were cleared by the servants, Aurora stood up and led the way to the living room. Everyone got up and followed her, Helion the last to move. Aurora padded her way to the piano and announced “I would like to dedicate this song to my amazing husband. I have been working on it, for a while, I hope you like it.” And started playing and singing.
