Your leg bounced under the corner table in the library, your fingers tapping agitatedly on the book on it—your book. You couldn't peel your eyes away from it, heart thundering in your chest as you awaited the sound of Remus’ gentle tap on the shoulder—the telltale sound of his arrival.
You and Remus had started a book club a couple weeks ago, sharing a fondness for books that not many of your friends did. As of now, the club was just for the two of you. Unless, of course, Mary decided there was something more worth her time than picking outfits, or Sirius decided that expanding his knowledge triumphed over turning the Slytherin’s skin green over breakfast. But that wasn't happening anytime soon. You felt slightly ashamed to feel relief at the thought of that. Of being able to keep Remus to yourself for this. You bit your lip, slumping in your chair as a sour feeling settled in your stomach. He was your friend, despite the undeniable connection that you’d been trying to ignore since you met. But… sometimes you lay awake in the middle of the night and wondered if Remus felt it, too.
Every time he directed his soft smile towards you. Every time he spoke of books with such warmth in his heart. Every time he offered to walk you back to your common room (despite the fact that his journey would be two times longer). Every time he teased you for hiding your reading glasses. Every time he sat by you, his warm, comforting scent wafting over. Every time you touched…every time he demonstrated something, but you were too busy looking at his hands, every time he stretched and your brain blanked, seeing a strip of skin on his waist, every time the scars on his lips stretched when he smiled, and all you could think about was kissing him—a firm hand on your shoulder jolted you in your seat, and you yelped not-so-quietly.
Warm and concerned brown eyes hovered in front of you, peering at you from behind a pair of glasses. “Hey, you okay? I called your name three times and you didn't respond.” Your lips parted, blinking up at him, eyes darting down to his lips, which were set in a frown. Remus? Oh, shit. You tried to speak but coughed instead, words stuck in your throat. You registered a warm feeling on your forehead, only to realize it was the back of Remus’ hand. “Do you have a cold?” He murmured worriedly, lips turned down.
“I, uh-” Your cheeks grew warm from his touch, trying to turn your head away. Remus’ hand on your forehead fell away, but he reached out, softly grabbing your chin to turn you back towards him.
“Just—wait a moment. Your face is warm. You might be—” You shook off his hold, waving a hand in nonchalance as you tried to will the heat in your face to leave.
“I'm fine, Remus—!” He reluctantly leaned back a bit, his hand falling away, and you realized he was sitting on the table. Your book was pushed to the side. You'd generally scold him for this, but instead, you turned your attention to your book bag, leaning down to keep his face away from you. You cleared your throat. “Did you… bring your book, then?” He hummed distantly, his eyes still trained on you, boring into the side of your head. You straightened in your chair, taking a gulp of water from your bottle, still avoiding eye contact. A couple beads of water trickled down to your chin. You put the bottle away, licking your lips nervously and grabbing for your book.
He dropped his hand on it heavily, leaning forward. His voice was soft, but stern as he spoke. “Hey. Look at me.” You tried to wipe the water away and grab for your book, frowning. “Come on, Remus-” Your voice came out more whiney than serious. “Look at me.” His voice was much more stern now. You tentatively looked up, cheeks warming again, as his face was inches away from yours. But he either didn't register it or ignored it. His hand lifted, creeping towards the side of your face, and he gently wiped the water away from your chin. His eyes flickered back to yours, roaming over your face as his hot breath fell over you. Your lips parted, eyes wide as you stared into his brown ones—they looked almost molten this close.
He glanced down at the same time you did, inches away from each other. His hand slid to your cheek, and you leaned into it as he leaned forward. Your breath hitched, a mix of excitement and anxiety filling you as—“What in Merlin's name is going on, here?!” Both of you jolted back, your books toppling to the floor. You whipped your head around to the sound of the voice. Madam Pince looked enraged, but not at you. She was glaring daggers at Remus. Her shrill voice filled your eyes, and both of you winced as she whisper-shouted. “Get off my table, you daft boy!”
Remus looked wide-eyed, like a deer caught in headlights as he eased off the table, mumbling unintelligible apologies to her, his hand scratching the back of his neck in embarrassment. “Don’t make me throw you out, Mister Lupin,” she narrowed her eyes at him. He stood blocking your view of her, but you heard his whispered assurances that it will not in fact, happen again. You distantly heard Madame Pince’s voice as she walked away. “I never expected… of all people…”
Your heart was climbing down from the scare, but it spiked again when you looked over at Remus and he hadn’t turned around. He stood rigidly staring after her like a wall. You gulped, taking in a sharp breath, and pushing your chair back to stand. You were not going to wallow in this moment. Even if your heart felt like it was being pierced over and over by anxiety. Maybe if you pretended it didn't happen, he would, too? You moved towards your splayed out book on the floor, wincing at its state. And then you can forget it, and stay friends, you thought. But… he leaned forward too, did he not?
You slowly straightened, seeing he was doing the same as you. You stood across from each other, the table the only thing in between. He kept his eyes trained on his book, but you could see the tremors in his hand. He was just as shaken as you. You looked down at your own book, and came to a decision. He looked up to see your book held out to him. He looked confused, as if he'd forgotten the whole point of meeting up. You cleared your throat, stomach distantly churning in your body. “I…finished annotating it.” You avoided looking into his eyes, and this time he didn't attempt to make you.
He stared between you and your book for a moment, and then fully straightened, as if coming to a decision himself. You heard his sweater shift, and soft footsteps as he made his way around the table. He stopped at your left and carefully took the book from you, extending his own. You risked a glance up to see he was smiling a small, soft, nervous smile. You slowly took his book, and your fingers brushed, a small electric spark igniting between them. You winced back, lips twisting in indecision. What now? He cleared his throat, speaking before you figured it out. “Thank you. I'll… I'm going to enjoy reading your thoughts.”
Your eyes darted up at his words, lips pressing together to fight off a small smile, this time. You nodded, and he wordlessly leaned down to press a chaste kiss to your cheek. His lips were warm where they met your skin. You felt on fire as he straightened, nodding. “I'll see you around, bug,” he said fondly, turning to leave. You could only lightly wave back, a wobbly smile on your lips. You watched him leave, every step of his filling a sense of hope in your heart. Once he was out of sight, you looked back to his book, flipping open the cover.
‘To my bookworm,
enjoy reading my thoughts.’
You bit your lip, looking moon-eyed as you sat down to read.

There's a lover's moon tonight, shining down on half of this world, but for me there is just one girl."

Remus lupin x shy!reader
Authors note : short one shot ahah

You spent all of your 5 years in Hogwarts trying not to attract any sort of attention from anyone, you were pretty content with only having a few friends, your said friends being Lily and Mary, being the complete opposite of you. But that never really bothered you, you liked that most of the well deserved attention went to your friends instead of you. That is until a certain marauder took interest in you. Remus Lupin, you wouldn’t consider yourselves to be friends. Of course, you’ve only interacted with him a few times, but you liked his easy presence and that he wasn’t as loud as his other friends.
Remus Lupin has never once imagined himself to be in a romantic relationship, he was too scared of the thought of accidentally hurting his partner. Which is why he convinced himself that he was better off without a partner. He believed that till he saw you for the first time, he wouldn’t fall for someone at first sight, he didn’t care too much about looks, but oh boy did that change when he saw you! You were sitting on a bench with your friends, and you had laughed at something they said. Remus and the other marauders happened to be walking by, he glanced over to you, and oh! Time suddenly slowed down for him as you smiled, the sunlight hitting your face just right, and suddenly there were flowers blooming behind you!?
Remus snapped out of it after he bumped into James, and only then did he realize he was staring at you. You noticed his gaze almost immediately and turned your head away. James, Sirius, and Peter all followed Remus’ gaze. Sirius let out a low whistle while James started waving enthusiastically at Lily, who couldn’t be more disinterested, Remus shoved them and ushered them to keep on walking.
You sighed a breath of relief as they walked off, hoping that would be the end of it. You knew the marauders were trouble, and trouble was the last thing you wanted.
────────────────────────
Quidditch matches, you weren’t a big fan of them, mostly because most people are screaming into your ears the whole time. But after enough pestering you had given in to your friends' pleading and went to a Quidditch game with them. You regretted it almost instantly but stayed nonetheless for your oh-so-dear friends. The match was Gryffindor against Ravenclaw. Lily, Marlene, and Mary were all cheering loudly for Gryffindor, you cheered softly whenever Gryffindor scored a point.
It was a cold autumn day, you’d much rather be in your room sleeping under a cozy blanket, but alas, you had to endure this for your friends. Lily suddenly announced she needed to go to the lavatory, but unfortunately for you, you didn’t hear her over the cheering. Remus, who was previously beside Lily, took this opportunity to scoot beside you in hopes of striking up a conversation. “They sure are fast, I can hardly keep my eyes on them," you said, while leaning to the person to your side, expecting to lean onto Lily. What you didn’t expect was leaning onto Remus, who was more than willing to let you. Your shoulders tensed as you jerked away, and you offered a quiet apology. Remus chuckled in response. “I don’t usually bite, you know.”
You smiled awkwardly and raised your hands slightly, you saw Remus opening his mouth to say something, but thankfully Lily managed to interrupt him and take back her seat from Remus.
As you looked back at Remus, he had a subtle pout, but it quickly turned into a smile when you made eye contact. You quickly looked away and leaned your head on Marlene’s shoulder instead. Marlene glanced over at you and smiled. “Aww, looks like someone’s tired already.” You scrunched your nose slightly as you pinched her side, earning a yelp from Marlene and snickering from Lily and Mary.
────────────────────────
You sat on your bed listening to the music that played downstairs, Gryffindor had won that Quidditch match, much to Ravenclaw’s dismay. Which is why they were throwing a party downstairs in the common room. Much to your friends' disappointment, they could not convince you to join the party, you glanced at the clock on the wall, 11:29 pm. You really, really wanted to sleep, but the music downstairs was just too loud!
You heard a faint knock on your dorm room. You weren’t sure if you were hearing things or not, but then you heard it again. You got up from your bed and opened the door to find Remus standing there. “Hi, mind if I stay here for a while? Sirius is drunk, and he won’t let me read in silence.” You knew your friends were close with the marauders, so you didn’t think they’d mind if Remus stayed here for a while.
You nodded slightly and stepped aside to let him in. Remus mimicked your nod and sat down on the floor near your bed. You climbed onto your bed but felt tense with the new presence in the room. Remus noticed the tension on your shoulders. "Why don’t you sit next to me? I can tell you’re cold.” You started to shake your head in refusal, but he suddenly pulled out a bar of chocolate. Was he seriously trying to bribe you!?
Much to your dismay, it worked, you begrudgingly got off the bed and sat down beside him, wearily taking a piece of chocolate. “Atta girl." You could feel Remus's smile without even looking at his face. As much as you hate to admit this, his easy presence was relaxing you too much. Remus noticed the shift in your mood and gently placed a hand on the side of your head and pulled it onto his shoulder. You wanted to pull away, but drowsiness washed over you as Remus’ abnormally warm body heat seeped into yours. You eventually fell asleep against your will, as Remus gently stroked your hair.
Lily, Mary, and Marlene were definitely not expecting to see such a cute view when they returned from the party.

THE FULL MOON monthly arrival and its consequences wouldn't cease to mix some turmoil in your relationship with Remus. It was a time of careful, planned preparation in order for both of you to come out in one piece. Both alive and dating wise. Remus' condition was not something he was very keen of admitting to you, but your passion for cryptics and creatures revealed that dark secret of Remus before he could even attempt to deny it. You loved him, nonetheless. Despite his condition, and the sudden strong urges he would have of running away and pushing you away for "the better." This careful plan to which both of you contributed to granted him some peace of mind about the matter.
Without slowing your pace, you opened your bag and observed the contents inside. 'Domesticating' potion? Check. Bandages? Check. Antimicrobial ointment? Check. And, most importantly, chocolate? Check.
The leaves had begun their turn at Hogwarts as fall began to creep in. With a slight chill in the air, as the whomping willow sent gusts of winds around as it twitched and tossed itself around, a slow rainfall of red, orange, and brown made its way to the moistened grass. Swiftly, you made your way through the tunnel that would bring you to the Shrieking Shack; Remus' hideaway. You carefully removed the gathered items from your bag, setting them on top of the neatly folded blanket that lay in the corner of the room near the bed. 48 hours to a full moon.
A loud thump echoed through the establishment, wind howling as it made its way through the windows that now opened due to the impact. A small peak over your shoulder identifies the person leaning against the doorframe as Remus. Your loving boyfriend, once with playful eyes and coy smile, now wears a heavier feel on his face. Nonetheless, the ends of his lips curl into a lovey smile.
"What are you doing here?" You spluttered. "We talked about how rest prior to that time was crucial!"
"You skipped breakfast, and now lunch. Since you won't put yourself first, I thought someone had to."
The small brown lunch sack dropped to the floor next to you, a smell of pastries dancing through your nostrils. Small kisses land on your temple as he hugs you from behind, forcing your once crouched position to be fully erect. He hugs you tightly. "I can't believe you have been working on this all day...You are too kind, too passionate, too—"
His rambling stops. "I don't deserve you. Any of this."
"What you deserve is for someone to take care of you, and unfortunately for you that is me" Your hand trails to his cheek, tracing the barely healed scar he attained from the month before.
"Merlin...I am the luckiest guy alive. Have I told you that you are my home?"
"Only for the third time today, my love, But yes, I know"
It was true. Even after his agreement on you taking care of him, every week leading up to the event a sense of melancholy would take over him and make him guilty of having you. You knew it wasn't due to a lack of love, if not it was due to the overwhelming amount of it. The fear of losing you, the only thing that takes the weight of the moon off his shoulders. His entire world. You.
His soft kisses that landed on your temple and scalp started moving downwards with intention towards the crook of your neck, down to your shoulder and collarbone. Remus held you close, one slender hand at your hip, gripping you tightly, while the other abandoned your belly and started fondling one of your breasts through the material. A gasp exited your lips at the action and sudden heat starting to pool at your core.
"Remus..." you panted, a needy hand shooting up to grab his hair. "We...fuck, we need to prepare. Did you bring the...the clothes?
Your sweet scent tormented him, you bewitched him and you were the cure. "I need you...With you, I feel as though I'm not this monster. You're my person. I need you."
"You have me, I'm not going anywhere. I'm staying right where you are."
His eyes softened immediately, a glimmer of darkness and animalistic desire dancing within as a low growl built in the back of his throat. He quickly moved, flipping you around to face him, sinking himself down to your level and trapping your face to crash his lips onto yours. It was needy; his mouth never left yours for a second. He was afraid to let go like you would leave and it had all been a dream. It was aggressive; moving towards the bed ready to let his urges loose. Prepared to mark on your and make you his. It was loving; a hand that caressed your cheek and held your hand above your head. Because no one else would make him feel as safe near a full moon as you did.
You let out a small gasp at the sudden weight of the boy on top of you, bodies crashing onto the mattress. Your body was burning with desire and need to be let free out of its enclosure. When he began to kiss and nip at the sensitive skin in your neck, you tilted your head back, welcoming the affection. "Remus..." you moaned.
A guttural noise that resembling of an animal left you boyfriend's mouth. He had you pinned underneath him, and the soft loving words you mustered into his ear between moans made Remus' heartbeat race. "Fuck--, you sound so pretty. My princess has been working so hard to take care of me...Let me take care of you."
He ducks his head, pressing open-mouthed kisses down the column of your neck, trailing down to your collarbone before sinking himself lower, nipping over the swell of your breasts. Remus groans and encloses his lips over a peaked nipple through the lacy fabric making up your bra. He swirls over the bud, teeth grazing menacingly before his tongue soothes it yet again. His hands. Fuck, fingers so long and slender that they mislead the actual force and grip strength they are capable of, as they find your way to your ass, fondling it and bringing you closer to him. You could feel how hard he was already through his jeans.
"Oh...shit, my god, Remus, I love you," A moan escapes your lips. "Stuff me, baby..."
Remus' mouth stops. The intensity of his gaze is downright filthy, his amber eyes locking onto yours, unblinking. A mischievous smile threatens the corner of his lips
"Baby, you don't know what you are asking for," his hand abandons your ass, moving its way to your inner thigh, teasing your dripping cunt through the thin lace of your panties. His forehead crashes against yours, fingers relentlessly teasing you. "I love you so much, baby. You make self-control at this time so difficult...All I want is to fill you up. Fill you up so much you never spend another day where I'm not with you...inside of you. Every step you take, that pretty little cunt of mine is dripping my seed onto those legs of yours."
Remus loves you. Really, truly loves you. It shows in every touch. Careful. Calm. No impatience nor selfishness, but slow-burning devotion turned into filthy worship. You don't know if it's his words, or the fact that two fingers are pushed into you without warning whilst his thumb works your desperate clit, but the sensation of both has you writhing underneath him again. He loves it. The simple analyzing of every inch of your face and its reactions to him nearly makes him come in his pants.
"Keep your eyes open, my love," Remus coos, returning his mouth to your abandoned nipple, "wanna make sure I get to see those beasutigufl eyes roll when you cum..."
You whine at the wave of sensations that build up your climax. Your abused nipple, the scissoring, clit rubbing, and the bass of his moans and groans sent you over the edge on a blinding heat pooled at your stomach and buzzed its way through your body. Remus fingered you through your orgasm, not stopping despite your pleas. Only when the words failed you, cries being the one thing able to escape your throat from the overstimulation, did he stop. He sucked your arousal dry off of his fingers, not taking much time to crush his mouth against yours, forcing you to taste yourself. He ripped the boxers off of his body shortly after the sound of his belt and jeans clattering onto the floor echoed through. His dick sprung free from its entrapment. It was long, yet lean, much like the rest of his body. So red and angry, dripping with precum. God, the sight of him made your mouth water.
"I like it when you come inside of me, Rem..." You taunted, voice soft and filthy. "Full, warm, yours."
Remus smiled, cocky and boyish. He was right there, tip parting your pussy lips and sliding itself up and down. "Gonna let me stuff you, love? Want me to fill up my pretty mate full of my wolf babies?"
You nodded vigorously, whining for him with hips bucking in anticipation. Remus pushed his cock in on one full thrust.
"Remus—!" his name caught on your throat as your hands scrambled to his back, clawing at it as he his cock slid in and out of you without hesitation.
"I know, baby" He groaned, head thrown back. "You feel so good--, always so perfect. My perfect girl."
Remus thrusted into you deep and slow, grinding into you like he was trying to fuck every worry, anxiety, any thought away. It was excruciating how he would slide almost entirely before slamming back into you, your cervix swallowing him hole. He placed a palm onto your belly pressing it down. "Y'feel me in there? Shi'...You are taking it in so well, princess..."
His words went straight to your cunt, making it flutter. Suddenly, Remus picked up the pace. His hands slipped unto beneath your knees, pushing your thighs onto your chest whilst snapping his hips harder. Your eyes widened at the newly found angle as he hit harder, deeper, ramming into your drenching pussy like the animal within desired.
Remus' words worked you as deliciously as his cock was.
"Gonna breed you so good, sweets..."
"I'm g'na fuck my cum so deep into you, it won't have anywhere else to go."
"Yeah? Is that the spot, princess? Come for me..."
And you did. Your orgasm crashed through you in a wave, walls clenching around him. It was sudden. Hot. Blinding. You cried out his name as your nails dug onto his forearms. Remus moaned, satisfied with this work.
"That's it, baby. Fuck, I wann--, fuck, fill you..." Remus did not last a second longer, pounding deep into you one last time before ropes of warm, sticky cum painted your walls. The warmth comforting your abused cunt.
He collapsed on top of you, totally breathless, and totally in love. Your dual pants filled the air, silence trailing closely behind.
"I like this...just us," he panted, brushing your hair away from you face, inspecting it. "Are you okay, love? I didn't hurt you?"
All you could manage to do was shake your head, sex-drunk smile creeping in. After a moment, he slowly pulled out of you. You were filled to the brim, his come starting to drip down your lips. "Merlin..." he bit his lip, "Look at that...You did so well."
Like instinct, he slid two fingers up your slit gathering the material and pushing it back into you.
"You're so beautiful, my love. This time of the month feels less heavy with you by my side..." He whispered, exhausted as he cradled you into his arms.
You kissed his jaw. "I love you, Rem, I really do."
"I love you too, darling. It's hard not to when my seed drips out of you."
I'm not sure if this is weird or not, if it is tell me and I'll take this down. But crescenthistory had a series about Remus and a disabled reader, and I know the accounts deactivated but I was wondering if anyone had that specific series reposted? It's been a while since I read it and I suppose I'm just missing it. I entirely understand if no one does or if this is a weird question, just tell me and I'll take this down asap!!!

he's been there before. he met you in that same pub, when his best friend introduced you as the new singer of his group. he came back on purpose, wanting to ask you out, thinking the feeling was mutual, but maybe he just was tragically wrong.
f reader and no use of yn. ────── cw on drinking !
“I didn’t think you were into this sort of thing.”
The whisper of your smooth, suave voice washes over him, and his breath catches in his throat. He didn't expect you to find him in that corner outside the back door of the pub before his ocean gaze could stumble across your figure in the crowd first. He didn't think that it could be a possibility, the fact that you would remember. That you would recognise him, when you had only seen him once.
“What sort of thing?” Remus mumbles, taking a drag from his fag, and you tilt your head slightly to your right, cheeky grin pulling at your lips.
“Y’know, all the noise. The heat, the mob,” you mutter, stretching the silence between words like a gum you forgot you were lazily chewing. “The loudness.”
“Maybe I’m into it when it’s you on stage,” he exhales, the mist from the lit cigarette swirling over you, but he doesn’t take another drag out of it, momentarily frozen.
He can’t believe he just blurted that out.
But you don’t seem to care. You’ve probably had a couple of beers already, he thinks. He can tell in your glossy gaze, in the absence of shivers dancing over your shoulders when the door behind you opens and closes. It’s there, in the way your mouth fills with laughter, in the way it spills into the space between you two when you giggle.
Remus watches you, raising his own beer to his lips, and they glisten with that golden liquid after he finally takes a long swig. He just cracks a slow, magnetic smirk. You’re not able to focus your eyes enough to see the way the corners of his mouth twitch, not entirely confident of looking genuine, but it doesn’t matter. He’s had a couple of beers too. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have acted like that—too bold for his usual self, at least around pretty girls.
Then you lean into him, stealing the air out of his lungs with the secrecy of your proximity.
“I hope you enjoy it, then,” you say, whispering once more, despite the fact that it’s just the two of you out there.
Remus's smile falters, thoughts swirling in a haze at the suggestiveness in your voice, too overwhelmed to lean into you as well, but too overwhelmed to pull away. He stands perfectly still instead, fearful that you can hear the heavy pounding of his heart against his ribcage, and holds the cigarette so tightly between his fingers he’s sure it will break.
Because he can feel the warmth of your body next to his, mere inches apart. He can bask in the soft trace of fruity scent clinging to your skin, get drunk on it instead of beer, and he closes his eyes when he realises it’s the aftertaste of some sort of perfume you wear like it’s your name. He noticed it the last time. It’s intoxicatingly delectable.
And then it’s gone.
“Always do,” he manages to choke out, swallowing his shame, but the curve of your body is already a soft shadow on the fogged out glass of the pub’s door. He considers for a moment how long is long enough to avoid appearing desperate for your company, and a beat later he’s throwing away the cigarette—a memory of ashes and you—and stepping on it with his reddish Converse on his way inside.
You are the star of the night, after all—the brightest of them all. The clamped up entrance of the pub eats him alive when he finds his place by his hiding corner. Thick air, laughter clattering around, flickering lights over the crowd. He remembers how he got there in the first place, with a couple of shots already down his throat and his arm thrown over Lily’s shoulders, after joining her and some of her workmates at her place.
They’d had to take the bloody bus, but they had arrived before most of the people still, and he watched his redhead friend and some other girls dance around while more and more people jammed up the space. Remus stuck to his corner, trying to identify who had shown up because they usually went to the pub, and who had attended because of the posters Sirius had put up everywhere the day before, announcing their first gig.
He leaves the empty casket of the beer nearby, not even bothering to check where, and looks at the time in his watch, in a flick of his wrist. Of course you had abandoned him so suddenly, then. The show is about to start, and he’s not sure you were entirely ready when you met him outside—eyeliner smudged, a shirt too big for you sliding down your bare shoulder and a random tie wrapped around your neck like a creative afterthought of a scarf.
But not even three minutes have gone by before the spotlights dim their light, drifting over the multitude until they finally fall over the stage. Remus manages to make out Sirius's outlined silhouette to the right, ebony hair brushing his shoulders as he adjusts his guitar strap. If he tries hard enough to distinguish the shadows in the background, he can even catch a glimpse of the shapes of James' body, behind the drum kit, tossing and catching the drumsticks in a nervous gesture.
He watches the drummer roll his neck, then crack his knuckles like a bad habit. James loves the rush of getting on stage, but in the minutes before it starts he always seems to let the quivers of excitement creep up his tanned arms.
The atmosphere quiets around Remus as one of the spotlights reflects on Marlene's blonde hair, casting darker shades on her roots, and when she bends down to pick up her sticker-covered bass, you finally emerge, attaching your hand to the microphone placed in the middle of the stage almost instinctively.
The lights grow brighter, and Remus notices your gaze dancing over those who had made it to the front row, grinning. He knows Lily is there, ready to support her boyfriend, and for a moment he regrets not having followed her just so he could admire you more closely. You won't be able to flirt with him in the furthest part of the pub—near the entrance, where he’s hidden—, because there is no way you could actually see him.
You raise one of your hands, and the room falls silent.
Mischief beams in your eyes as you bring your lips closer to the microphone, letting the anticipation sink in. You curve your mouth in a sly grin, and Remus thinks half the people in there might fall in love with you if they stare long enough. He knows, because it happened to him. You’re addictive.
“Alright, you lot,” you announce, and your voice seems to drift across the room, “let’s make a mess, yeah?”
As soon as the first thump of James' drumsticks echoes, Remus closes his eyes. Marlene’s bassline takes over immediately after, and suddenly your smooth tone curls around him like a whirl of summer wind. It’s the very same indie cover you were singing when he first saw you, slow-burn and warm, with a melodic heartbeat that makes him twist like a sunflower towards you.
He had never listened to that song until the day before, spilling right from your mouth.
Maroon cherry cola lips, curving into a troublesome gesture as soon as he stepped into the dimmed lights of the pub, Sirius by his side.
Remus had put on one of the leather jackets he had hanging in the hall wardrobe of his shared dorm as soon as he realised he was way too late, collar up and sunglasses perched on the neckline of his old T-shirt. His friends had told him the week before during dinner, absolutely thrilled and too loud even for them, that they had finally found the missing piece in their band. You.
And he had been late for the rehearsal session the day before their first concert, because the previous night perhaps he’d had a little bit too much to drink at Junior’s birthday party, and had not heard the alarm go off that afternoon.
You were in the middle of the stage, sitting lazily on a high stool, and your voice was a wildfire, crackling a cappella over the surfaces of the vast room, while James approached him and Sirius with a shit-eating grin.
“Sounds amazing, doesn’t she?” he asked, with a gleam in his gaze that Remus couldn't tell whether it was the product of his glasses or his lit-up eyes.
“That she does, mate!” answered Sirius, placing an arm around Remus' shoulders, all but ignoring what he had to say about her, the new star of their show. About you.
So he didn’t respond at all. Instead, he let his eyes return to your figure, helplessly, as if gravity were pulling him towards you. You, and your hair messily tied in a ponytail, your wrists full of chunky bracelets, the way that short black skirt moulded to your hips, and how the smudged eyeliner transformed your eyes into something dangerous, as if you'd rubbed them too much—or slept without removing your make-up.
He smiled, without even thinking he was doing it.
You did sound amazing.
Well past the first chorus of the second song—you were warming up, he'd been told—Remus realised he had no idea what your name was. Or any information about you, for that matter, but especially your name: a word that captured the tempestuous mayhem you seemed to be.
He almost hadn't been able to spot the pause that separated the indie song you'd been singing from the original one that was flowing from your vocal cords then, because the music hadn't stopped at any point—the music hadn't started playing at all, in fact, he noticed. You had been creating the whole setting with your voice alone. But Remus could recognise the lyrics he had composed for his friends even with his eyes closed.
In the middle of that room, and with James and Sirius engaged in a conversation he hadn’t even been paying attention to, Remus felt the certainty pounding in his chest that there was no one who could sing those songs like you did.
It seemed like magic, a spell you conjured with your voice, meant to bewitch all those who could hear you.
And then you looked up from the paper in your hands, your lips still spilling with music, and you saw him. Shining under the spotlight, your voice unwavering, the corners of your mouth had twitched upwards, as if you knew him already and just remembered an old joke he'd told you, as if you could turn his life upside down for just a second by his side—almost as if you were singing just for him.
By the time the song had ended, and your lips had met in a mischievous curve, the pub had fallen silent. A dense, soothing silence, like the breathless comfort you feel after an orgasm. Just your ragged breathing, your flushed cheeks, and the hurried way Remus swallowed the lump in his throat before joining in the applause that Sirius didn't hesitate to start.
“Well done, gorgeous!” the guitarist exclaimed, moving away from Remus to get closer to you.
You snickered, your voice still amplified by the microphone, and it got stuck to Remus’ brain as the tune of his new favourite song. He tried to stop looking at you, but his gaze kept going back to your figure in the middle of the stage, and prayed no one realised this absurd addiction.
Then you just hopped off the high stool, your old Docs thudding against the wooden floor, and Remus had heard you whisper, voice slightly hoarse, “‘Right, lads—you're up. I'm gonna take five while you mess about with the instrumental.”
“Been runnin’ through the whole bloody set for ages,” James told him. “Reckons she’s gotta measure up.”
Remus had nodded absently while he watched Sirius help you off the stage—your arms outstretched towards him, him holding you as if you were nothing, his hands curling around your soft skin. He almost hadn’t felt James' pat on his back, chuckling as he set off to join Marlene and Sirius. It was their turn to practise the instrumental part of tomorrow's gig, and then they would practise everything all together.
“Off you go, lover boy!” exclaimed Marlene, all pale undertone for her multiple tattoos and wicked laughter.
As she climbed to the stage, her bass hanging from the strap at her back, Remus stayed behind. He hadn't even had time to process Sirius's response to her, the heat creeping up his cheeks at her remark, when he realised you were approaching him. The slow swaying your hips, when his breath caught in his throat, and then the bittersweet disappointment of realising that you were just fetching some water from behind the bar.
“You do know you’re about as subtle as a brick, yeah?”
“Huh, what?”
You turned slightly, mischievous glint in your eyes as you interjected him, and leaned backwards into the bar, resting your elbows on the wooden surface.
“A fan of the group?” you asked, raising a questioning eyebrow.
“No, actually,” he chuckled, trying to find some kind of ease under your cheeky gaze. “I'm—I'm with the group.”
“Oh.”
Your whole demeanor changed as his friends started to play in the background, sharp eyes turning soft and allowing yourself to sip some water from the bottle you had just fetched.
“You've got guts, y'know?” he said, after a heartbeat, dying to keep the conversation flowing with you. “Joining this absolute mess.”
Remus saw you tilting your head, like a confused puppy
“This absolute mess?”
“Well, Sirius is the definition of attention seeker and thinks he's some kind of guitar God, James plays like he's possessed and trying to wake up half the country and Marlene seems fun but is actually one snapped string away from throttling them both,” Remus chimed, sarcastic grin playing on his lips.
“Well,” you remarked, taking a step nearer to Remus. “That definitely sounds like my kind of mess, if I'm being honest.”
Remus swallowed, feeling your body heat perhaps too close to his.
“Good, then.”
You had taken another step, and he knew right there that what he felt puffing against his chest was that uneven breathing of yours, still ragged from your stubborn singing—but he actually wondered if it could also be his heart, trying to escape from his body.
“Good,” you exhaled, your soft gaze drinking him in, and he had to fight the urge to take in that shared breath with an unprompted kiss.
Or just revel in your closeness and finally give in with that bewitched twitch on his fingertips, ticklish and painfully desperate, dying to touch you like Sirius just had done.
His thoughts had gone too far.
He had just met you a few seconds ago, for Merlin’s sake, and he felt like he knew you for years already.
It drove him insane.
“Do you come here often?” you whispered, lips pursed, eyes on him.
“To—hm, to the pub?”
You shrugged, an ambiguous tilt of your head guiding him to give you an answer.
“Sometimes,” he said, shrugging as well, and you’d smiled—smiled and snickered, like he had just given the only right answer. “Why? You think you might already know me?”
“Oh, I don't know who you are,” and you leaned a little bit more, playing with the boundaries of his sanity. “I would remember.”
“Sure you would,” Remus managed to utter, his Adam's apple bobbing overwhelmingly enough to catch your attention, making you still for a moment and then take a step back.
“Will you come tomorrow, at least?” you asked, and you seemed to really want a real answer that time. “It’s the gig part of your sometimes yes or part of the no's?”
Remus cleared his throat, and nodded even before offering a response.
“I will.”
“Good,” you pronounced, and he saw the way you savoured the word as you said it.
He didn't find the strength to repeat it back to you, and just nodded again, hearing the thunderous beat of his heart on his ears instead of the banging tunes he had composed flowing over from the stage.
He wasn't usually that bashful, even around pretty girls. But you had that magnetic pull that made him forget all the words in his vocabulary, and act like a fool. A foolish bastard, he thought. One look at you and he was absolutely doomed. One look back and he’d found himself wishing you would do to him whatever you wanted, as bad as it could be.
And still, he hadn't even asked for your bloody name.
Remus asks for another beer, a longneck with enough alcohol to make him even more courageous. He starts it with one long sip after thanking the bartender, and leaves a couple of notes over the bar, turning towards the stage.
Night is always young if you have the right people by your side—that much he knows. He doesn’t need to check his watch, even though he wouldn't be able to see the numbers under the dimmed lights of the pub. The gig is still going; he follows the hollows and highs of your voice like a hopeless fanatic. And still, he is sure the night is still young because he is with the band, and those are the best people ever.
Especially you.
You, with the flawless way you enamour everyone in the room and your easy laughter. After the indie cover, you sing that catchy song he came up with one lonely evening when he took the bus home. And then the one he composed with James, that summer night by the pool. He knew the set by heart, but he feels like he is listening to it for the first time.
It’s not his music anymore—it’s yours now.
And the group has chosen to end the gig with a ballad. A painfully breathtaking ballad he wrote thinking about someone he couldn't have, someone too close to his heart but far enough for it to be manageable, and Remus can't help but feel a little bit less broken when he hears you sing those words out loud.
It's like an answer. He bled his feelings into a melody he designed to contain the mourning of a love story that wasn't going to be, and now you repeat it—note by note—looking for him among the audience.
Your sharp gaze, making out every person in the crowd, jumping from one to another when you realise it's not him, until he moves forward and then you see him.
And you sing to him, soft and quiet and warm—delightfully right. And maybe those are his delusions, but then the chorus picks up its pace, Sirius's fingers drifting among the strings of his guitar, and you smile at him, microphone between your hands, like you’re dedicating each second to the stranger you met the day before.
So Remus curves his lips, giddy, and makes his way to one of the sides of the stage—the one he knows that has a door to the backstage, where he will approach you, find his words and ask you out.
He's no expert in love, but the eyes never lie.
And you've got something in that clear gaze…
But your voice trembles as you take the microphone out of its pole, surely ready to end the show near the drummer, next to James, as good vocalists do. And Marlene starts to approach the drum kit, as does Sirius, following your lead, running after the sweet end of the song.
James hits it one last time, soft and mellow, and the silence stills for a second.
Before Remus can process the scene unfolding, you laugh—loud and free and wild—and turn to your left, to his best friend, to the ready arms of your guitarist.
Instead of an exhilarated hug, one to shake off the adrenaline of the gig, you caress his cheek and bury your hand into his curly hair, pressing your winery lips to his in a hungry kiss.
Before Remus can understand why you would do it, he realises neither James nor Marlene are surprised, and he just knows it's not the first time this has happened. He sees the light in your face, and the smug grin on Sirius’ as he kisses you again, and knows he should stay—it's your first gig, they would want the feedback, you would too.
Instead, he turns, feeling the lump in this throat growing by the minute, and walks towards the exit of the pub. He should have known better. Of course a girl like you would already be taken. Of course it would be with someone like Sirius and not someone like him.
So he takes his sunglasses from the neckline of his t-shirt and puts them on, wondering. There's no use in looking for love, anyways. The moment is gone.
𝖬𝖠𝖱𝖲𝗧𝗔𝗟𝗞𝗦 . first and foremost, this is a repost from my old marauders sideblog @ lupuslupiin. according to the og post, i got this idea from watching the biopic bohemian raphsody, and also i tried to make it obvious that this is sad, since i got asks about not being explicit enough the first time i posted it haha i hope you liked it cause it took me (embarrassingly) way too long to figure out how to work the past tense with the flahsbacks for someone stuyding english..

Remus has been repeating those words in his head ever since that Halloween party at James' home. Truth be told, after seeing how all of his friends seem settled in their lives, he feels stuck. James has been planning to propose to Lily, Sirius is starting a new job as a photographer at the Runway magazine, and even Peter seems happy in his new relationship.
It was the reason he broke up with Evelyn, too...well, more factors led him to end that trainwreck of a relationship, one being that he felt like a ghost. Evelyn often looked past him. He often thought it was his fault, but no matter how much he changed his hairstyle or how many jokes he tried to crack, she always looked past him.
He does feel at peace here at the Lake House. Remus always wondered why his father hated this house so much, even though it was one of the first houses his father designed before his firm rose to popularity. Every corner is filled with memories of his father laughing and his mother humming when she thought no one was listening, but memories and furniture are the only things filling this house. Now the silence is only filled by the wind howling outside.
With a heavy sigh, he gathers his jumper and shoes, eager to go outside before he gets swallowed by his own thoughts.
The pier creaks under Remus' feet as he walks with his hands in his pockets. He got distracted from his train of thought when he realised his mailbox's flag was raised. Great, he finally found something a little more productive to do than thinking. The mailbox opens with a creak that always cringes him and makes a note to himself to oil it later.
He flicks through his mail with a slower pace than usual, with a slight hope that maybe someone sent a card or a letter. But so far, it is just newsletters and letters from his bank. He was beginning to lose hope when a small letter fell down on the ground.
Remus bent down with a groan and was a bit surprised...did he actually get a letter? He quickly opens it, and the first thing he notices is that the handwriting is a little horrific, yet he still reads:
Dear new tenant,
The house in front of you is nothing short of a dream house, and I mean it. I always thought houses like these only existed in my imagination. Unfortunately, as beautiful as it is, it is too quiet for me but I hope you are able to find warmth in this lake house.
P.S. I am the previous tenant by the way. I have made sure I have changed my address everywhere but if you still end up getting any of my mails kindly send them to the address below
Remus narrows his eyes when he read the letter again. For a minute he thought someone was pulling a prank. He scrunched up the letter and was ready to throw it but for the life of him he couldn't.
His thumb traced the ink as he sighs and puts the letter into his pocket. He felt like a creep for holding onto a letter he didn't even know who wrote and how incorrect it was because
The lake house has been empty for years

Hi I saw your post and I’m feigning for a Drabble on Remus w his glasses perhaps reader seems him wearing them for the first time idk . I’m a sucker for a nerd in glasses who isn’t
more nerds in glasses!
Remus Lupin x reader ✩ 866 words modern! au
You're aware that time keeping isn't your strongest skill, it's easy to get caught up in different things and for time to slip away from you. You make an effort though, especially when it comes to Remus.
Alarms on your phone. Plans written down immediately. Dates – are they dates? They feel like dates. They usually end with Remus walking you home, shoulder to shoulder, and lately they’ve ended with your hand in his. You’ve kissed once or twice now too. Whatever they are, they go straight into your calendar the moment they’re arranged.
Still, occasionally, you’re five minutes late.
This time, though, having to rush through the shelves of the library towards your study session (date?) with Remus is not your fault. The last lecture of the day overran by nearly fifteen minutes.
You round the last of the bookshelves hiding the far corner of the library and there he is. His back facing you, shoulders slightly hunched over the table as he reads through a stack of papers. Remus is already nose-deep in whatever assignment currently has his attention. It’s admirable really, the care and concentration he breathes into everything he does. Not just his uni work, either.
There's little glimpses you've caught of ways he acts on your other little outings that solidify that. You think you might be in with a chance of being on the receiving end of all that care and attention if things keep going as well as they seem to be.
“Remus!” you whisper shout as you approach, more to warn him of your arrival than anything else.
“Hi, lovely.” he greets, face lighting up at the sight of you rounding the table.
You barely glance at him before dropping into your seat, too busy trying to unload everything you need from your bag.
“I’m, so, so, sorry Rem.” A pile of books joins his on the table.
“Someone decided the end of a lecture was the perfect time to ask an irrelevant question,” you accidentally drop your laptop to the table, making Remus wince. “And y’know what Slughorn is like. Once you get him started he doesn’t bloody stop. I tried to make up for it by speedwa–”
“Hey, hey!” Remus’ voice cuts gently through your spiraling explanation. “It’s fine, I haven’t been here long, I would’ve been happy to wait as long as you needed, sweetheart.”
The guilt in your chest is loosened.
Taking a deep breath you glance over everything you’ve laid out on the table. Books, pens and a laptop spread wide. Where your side of the table looks like a tornado hit it, his is well organised, all the things he isn't using are stacked in a nice pile. Your eyes nearly pop out of your head as you take in how much he’s brought.
“It looks like you’ve been here a while though, I’m–” You pause. “Oh…”
For the first time since arriving, you're actually looking at his face.
Where on earth has he been hiding these? A cute pair of glasses sit on the bridge of his nose. The frames suit him perfectly. They make his warm brown eyes seem even bigger, drawing attention to every little expression that crosses his face.
You already struggle to focus around him on a good day. How are you supposed to get any work done now?
“What?” Remus asks with a confused little frown on his face. It snaps you out of the little daze you fell into.
“You wear glasses?”
It's like those words flipped a switch in his brain, the tips of his ears start turning pink instantly and his cheeks quickly follow. There's a moment where he ducks his head away from you like he’s embarrassed.
Surely he knows how good they look. Then again, you’ve known Remus long enough now to suspect he doesn't. He has no idea how pretty he is. A terrible stream of self consciousness flows through him (the smartest and most handsome boy you know!) and it breaks your heart a little when you're reminded.
“They’re just for reading,” he gives a little self conscious smile. “I try not to wear them so much but I've strained my eyes a bit.”
You reach across the table to take hold of Remus’ hands wanting to make sure he hears you now.
“You should wear them whenever you need to,” you declare while maintaining eye contact. “In fact, you're gorgeous, Rem. You should wear them all the time.”
“You think?”
You squeeze his hands where you’ve got them on the table and he squeezes back.
“Would I lie to you?”
A bashful but pleased smile starts tugging at his lips.
“I don't know,” he says. “Would you lie to me, lovely?” You're thrilled to hear some teasing come back into his tone.
You laugh immediately and shake your head.
“No.”
“No?”
“No.”
Remus watches you for a moment, smiling softly to himself.
Then, still holding your hand for one last second before letting go, he nods towards the mountain of work spread between you.
"Come on," he says. "Let's get some work done."
His eyes flick briefly towards the clock on the wall.
