I just wanted to tell you about how i've been writing my fic and had the brilliant idea to make the character not know what a pinky promise is.

I then remembered that i got this idea from your fic.

I think it's genius. And i wanted to tell you that.

Also, i will link your fic in my notes of the chapter the scene will be in to give you credit for that brilliant scene. If that's alright with you?

(I don't know if it's generally a more common prompt/ scene in fanfics, not knowing the pinky promise thing, but i definitely saw it first with you)

And also, thank you for your great contribution to saiki k fics. I'm not really in the fandom as much anymore, but your fic is the only one i still actively read and look forward to. Love it. <3

You just made my night and day. Oh my gooosssssh. I'm so touched! Please feel free to use the idea. I originally came up with it because I wasn't sure if "pinky promises" were used outside of the USA and UK, but then I latched onto it because it was so important to me that the idea of a pinky promise can be taught at any age.

Honestly though, I don't know if I've seen any fics that have a character not know what a pinky promise is, but there's over a million fanworks on ao3 alone, so I doubt I'm the first. Either way, no pressure about the credit. Knowing I inspired someone in a small way might genuinely make my year.

Okay, if I keep talking I will turn into a pile of overjoyed goo. I hope your writings go well!

Write whatever you want.

Have fun doing it.

That’s literally it. There is no “show and don’t tell”. There is no “make it realistic”. There is no “fit in with the trends”. And of course, there is no “write as fast as possible to keep up engagement and please others”.

No.

Most fanfiction writers are not professional writers. This isn’t a job, we’re literally writing for shits and giggles. We don’t have a team of editors behind us to make our story perfect. Fanfiction isn’t about creating the most perfect plot with the most perfect prose and the most perfect pacing.

Fanfiction writing is for you first. To make your heart happy. Other people just get the benefit to also enjoy it if they wish.

That’s it.

Write whatever makes you happy, with whatever writing style you want, whenever you want.
