Just reblogging some cool stuff

I recently went to a steampunk event with my friend @izzet-chaosmage with a new sleeveless waistcoat/jacket in an attempt to stay cooler whilst still looking steampunk enough (which is why I haven't got a hat on, it was too hot for my hat!). I had slightly modified my fairy jar but it didn't fare well, so I'll be replacing it for the next event I go to. Better, though, was the belt pouch I made which was crucial as it can carry four bottles of sports drink to keep me from dying in the heat.

Izzet-chaosmage was wearing an outfit they'd thrown together from a few bits and pieces they had from other outfits, plus a very cool staff they've been working on for a different cosplay. Not only do the skull's eyes light up, they flicker too. Whilst we were there, a kid even asked if it was real, but I don't remember what Izzet's response was...

The next thing I'm working on is my outfit for Weekend at the Asylum, which for those who don't know is the big annual steampunk event here in England, for which I am going to have a new fairy box mounted on a harness along with a Device (TM) which will be hanging from my belt.

I decided to let the cravings for enrichment and the Rachel Maksy-induced hubris win and spent the past weeks steampunking my old computer case:

The most work was in carefully taping all the ridges so I could do the different colours with spray paint and in making sure the spray paint did not get everywhere else, including inside my lungs. The whole thing is just paint and foil tape, but I'm honestly chuffed with it. Eventually I'd like to add more weird steampunk details to it, but for now this is making me very happy.

A life sized crochet Sinosauropteryx prima complete with pico-feathering in as scientifically-accurate of a pattern and color as I possibly could. I had to read some literature to get it right but I think this is one of the best projects I've ever made. What do I name her? 2-L 7Up bottle for scale

I've been working on her since September. The entire base was crocheted in this mustard I had a million skeins of. She didn't even use up one

I love her so much she's gonna sit above my TV in the living room for now until we move and I can have a Designated Spot for her <3
