You know, a friend of mine wears a ring on her left middle finger. Her explanation being that: your right middle means “currently single”, the right ring means “currently taken” and since the left ring means “taken/married” in a permanent sense, then the next logical conclusion would be that left middle means “permanently single”.

AVENwiki adds that “Plain black rings also coincide with the symbol ⚪ which symbolized asexuality and genderless. This symbol is also often written in black, simple because it’s a common ink color.” In context, it’s a perfect visualization of asexuality in relation to similar sexuality symbols.

So, while netherite is better than diamonds, it is prohibitively rarer than obtaining diamonds is. The way you get netherrite is by finding these “ancient debris” blocks that generate below ~25 on the y level, (I found they’re most common around y levels 10-16 or so, the lowest I saw them generate was y:7). They look like this:

They generate in ore veins of 1-3, I find that the veins of 3 are quite rare though. I also never saw them visible from the surface, but maybe it can happen sometimes. More often than not it looks like you’ll have to use stripmines just to find them, though.

Once you find a vein of the stuff, I hope you brought a diamond pick, though- they can only be mined using diamond. I tried iron and gold, it’s ridiculously slow with those and they don’t drop, you need a diamond pick.

Once you mine it, you get just the ore form of it, like mining iron or gold ore (so, it’s not affected by the fortune enchant). You can smelt it in a furnace or blast furnace to get “netherite scrap”, which is then used to make the ingots. You need gold ingots as well to combine with the scraps, like so:

Once you’ve crafted up a netherite ingot, the way you use it in crafting recipes isn’t quite what you might expect. Instead of using the ingots directly, you craft tools and armor from them like this:

Yup. You need to combine diamond tools and armor with the ingot to get the netherite stuff.

At the very least, it means you don’t need a ridiculous amount of netherite just to be able to make anything, but you will need a lot more diamonds. Also, before you ask, no you don’t keep the enchantments from the diamond armor if you use enchanted diamond while crafting- all the enchantments are lost when making netherite. That’s ok though, because as the changelog post said, netherite is more enchantable than diamond gear is.

Similarly, when I was growing up I went through a phase where I was very complain-y, and my mom was like “we gotta nip this in the bud.” She came up with “rocks and balloons” (which maybe others have done before; this was just her version idk man don’t come for me if this wasn’t the OG). 

Rocks were negatives and balloons were positives. If you spent all day walking and looking down at the rocks and putting them in your bag, your bag would get heavy and you’d never look up and see balloons. So at the end of the day we could tell her three rocks, and five balloons from our day (three bads, five goods). If we cooperated and did that, we’d go get those adorable little 25c cones from Lion’s choice.

It really was formative for me, and was actually the inspiration for the (almost) daily positive hour that I do on my blog now. I was sitting in my apartment, feeling down and out about random stuff accumulating, and I decided I was done so I’d just hear about other people’s balloons to help remind me of my balloons too. Each shaped individually to each actors face and able to pick up each micro expression we still struggle to produce with cgi to this day without it looking wrong or plastic

everything from the small cheek movements to the eyebrows to the nose crinkle, the actresses is able to act as if she usually would.

By not having to restrain her face to act in one peticular spot or with nothing but small motion capture dots on her face, means she can actually bounce off the more realistic reaction to the other actors performance rather than if they just said "right well pretend she's a cat and we'll add it in later".

and sure, okay, I'm not gonna lie to you, the main reason the nun cats were made to be nuns was because it meant that they could cover up as much skin as they possibly could to save time in the makeup chair, because like op said, they truly did have the budget of a crisp packet

but hey, if it works

Yes, each actresses sat in the makeup chair getting the extensive hair and make up done for HOURS, but ultimately the sheer amount of detail they were able to add to the characters by doing this made it worth their while.
