The Utena Musical, Bud of the White Rose, is playing in Japan right now, is amazing, and will be available on DVD and Blu-Ray July 18th August 1. To my understanding, it will be a two disc set with a making of on the second. ***The DVD is Region 2 locked, so it won’t play in American players. The Blu-Ray has no region encoding, and will play in any player.***

The swag appears to be a "2L Bromide.” It’s likely a few other sellers will have swag of their own. I checked and you can pre-order these at Animate, but only shipping within Japan, and the vanilla Amazon copies are the cheapest you’re going to get either way. I paid 9500Y at the musical, and apparently I’ll be getting a ticket to an event I can’t go to, because I am now very poor.

“But Giovanna,” you might say, “I don’t speak Japanese!!” Don’t worry. 1. The musical is a very faithful recounting of the first arc, and I promise you you’ll have no problem following along for the most part. 2. A translation will be available. I promise. You trust me, right?
