The Left Hand of Darkness

The Left hand of Darkness - guys I should have read this long ago. I've read a lot of Ursula Le Guin and this is perhaps somehow my even more favourite. Set on a planet where nobody usually has a distinct sex or gender, I assumed it was just a thought experiment about that, but there's actually extremely interesting characters and longing and political maneouvering and an ice trek and above all else, it's about people who are very different reaching out over a cultural divide in a way that's so beautiful I want to weep. I've had a quote about (anti-)nationalism from this book saved for ages but it also feels like it's just about humanity. For a book with a lot of pathos and tragedy, it feels hopeful and incredibly compassionate. I'm still thinking about it. I can't explain why without spoilers but Estraven. ESTRAVEN. I'm still thinking about you [There's more than 1 audiobook, personally I preferred and particularly enjoyed this one performed by Michael Crouch.] Also hope this isn't weird but shoutout to @latelylately whose good fanart gives me emotions and made me finally actually read this (and draw something)
