Quick note about Joan and Sherlock’s relationship because I’ve seen a couple of posts note that their relationship was confusing b/c it was platonic but was told too much like a romance and I just have to say that is EXACTLY why I love that relationship and I think that was totally intentionally (and perfectly) done.
Joan and Sherlock’s story is a love story. Full stop. It’s not romantic, and it doesn’t need to be. What this show did was tell a story about two people who belong together and want to take care of each other and be there for each other but aren’t in (and don’t want to be in) a romantic relationship. And I think if anyone has issues with it being ‘too much/not enough like a romance,’ or feel like the show needs to make a decision on whether it’s a friendship or a romance, that they should question their assumptions about relationships and what they can and should be. Platonic soulmates can exist. Loving partnerships can exist in myriad ways, and Sherlock and Joan’s is one that we just don’t happen to see at all on TV, but that lack of representation makes it no less valid or important.
Anyone else only in their 20s but feel like they are running out of time to get their life together??
Don’t. I felt this way too, in my twenties, but you know what? I began transitioning at 30. I went back to grad school at 32. I’m living my best life, and while I’m a little behind the curve compared to some of my classmates on some things, I’m also so far ahead of them on others. You need follow nobody’s schedule but your own. Life is hard and the world isn’t doing any of us favors. Be kind to yourself, and remember that you still have plenty of time. The only difference between starting now and 5 or 10 years earlier is now you have more experience.
I needed to hear this so badly

He was impressed with her even before meeting her, Sherlock rarely appreciates someone, he appreciated John after deducing him long, he appreciated Molly when she needed to hear it but
Irene
He was impressed and awed by Her in the palace itself
“Hmm, a power play with the most powerful family, now that is a dominatrix”
He was thrumming with excitement which soared to heights when he saw her naked and in her element deducing him which was rare….. Very very rare
And that’s when Sherlock knew he wanted Irene
Seeing these things about proposals etc just makes me desperate to see if/how film Spock would propose. If it was him who did it I'd laugh if he did a Will Turner from Pirates of the Caribbean and in the middle of some serious shit just suggested they get married but then he would go back to protocall.
the best thing about this is that a Will/Elizabeth-wedding with S/U would be just perfection and 100% how it would happen: in the middle of an intergalactic battle before they (think they will) die, and Jim would marry them while they all hold their phasers and try to defend themselves from a bunch of angry natives of some new planet they discovered and that they have accidentally pissed off.
but really, he’d totally ask her out of the random, in the most unromantic or casual moment, and she would say yes laughing and it would be perfect.
Sherlock: John, we tried things your way.
John: No we didn’t!
Sherlock: I did it in my head. It didn’t work.
“If people sat outside and looked at the stars each night, I’ll bet they’d live a lot differently…When you look into infinity, you realize that there are more important things than what people do all day.”

Does anyone have consoling words for me? I just watched the final episode of The Originals and I think my heart just broke.
miscommunication as a plot device makes me angry
if you just talked to each other but no
on the one hand i agree with this but on the other hand one of my coworkers rented an alpaca from a petting zoo and brought it to work because my boss said she wanted an alpaca sweater but the guy didn’t hear her say sweater and didn’t want to upset her by asking why the fuck she’d want an alpaca
I think that highlights a good genre difference: miscommunication in drama is frustrating, overused, and just kinda shit. Miscommunication in comedy is fucking hilarious.
“In a world of locked rooms, the man with the key is king. And honey, you should see me in a crown.”
— James Moriarty, SHERLOCK, BBC.
It’s been said before, but honestly one of the best feelings in the world is when you unexpectedly read a marvelously written fic and you click on the author’s name in AO3 and discover…more works.
You also have these baby teenage mutant ninja turtles to protect you.
This is actually such a good tactic for people with serious anxiety problems. Thank you. Really. Omg.

Molly: *sneezes*
Irene:
Molly: You’re not even going to say, “Bless you”?
Irene: *flips her hair* I’m sitting here with you, you’ve clearly been blessed.
look at these two. look at how they’ve managed to possess the most important thing to each other—him, her protection; and her, his mind—because they have let each other do so.
irene doesn’t give away her heart; sherlock steals it from the most fortified place in her home and makes it his. i’ve got your heart and i’m not giving it back. but she doesn’t let him off easily, and the only reason he ever really gets her phone is that she allows him to.
and then there’s sherlock’s head, as full of secrets and as heavily guarded as any booby-trapped safe, and yet irene infiltrates his palace and comes and goes as she pleases. it irritates him to no end, but he knows that she is only there because he allows her to.
