i just want to have a daughter so badly so i can tell her exactly that the sea comes in and the sun rises and the flowers open and the teachers speak just as much to her as they do to anyone else, that the whole world is hers as much as it is anyone else’s, and that there isn’t one thing she cannot touch or think or feel for herself!! that every book was written and every painting was painted and every sculpture was sculpted for her to see and feel and think about, and that every ruin of every ancient civilization was left to her
