Finney that gets super flustered when complimented and immediately changes the subject x robin that is NOT afraid to point out how beautiful finney looks today :)
An AU where the black phone on the basement wall was never actually broken. It 'worked'.
There is no mysticism behind the calls Finney answers. It isn't the ghosts of the murdered boys trying to reach him from the afterlife ā it is a twisted game played by Albert himself. He meticulously recorded the voices of his previous victims, only to dial the basement later and play back those tapes. Have you ever wondered why the ghostly boys keep repeating the same phrases over and over? They are nothing more than looped fragments of old recordings.
Albert wasn't just keeping Finney captive; he was nurturing him with false hope. While Finney genuinely believed he was finding allies and fighting for survival ā whether digging a tunnel or reaching for the window ā every single move was orchestrated. Albert scripted the entire 'escape' himself. He knew every attempt beforehand, deriving a sadistic pleasure from watching a butterfly desperately battering its wings against the glass of a jar, driven by a manufactured illusion of freedom.
being a kid and hearing adults say stuff like "woah 2011 was 4 years ago haha" didn't really convey the fucking horror of a youtube video crossing my recommended labelled "9 years ago" and it's from 2017. that's not true. 9 years ago is 2010 or something. don't lie.
I have a million issues with the Black Phone 2, but one of my criticisms that I actually think is kind of funny if I donāt take it too seriously is how the movie ended.
Like, Iāve seen people complain that Gwen got the final phone call (which I agree is a major issue because it should have been a dream, this movie really just dropped the ball when it came to consistent in universe rules).
But I think the funniest thing about it is that after Hope talks to Gwen and tells her to tell Finn she loves him, we then get that Robin said to tell Finn hi.
WHILE ERNESTO IS JUST STANDING THERE.
Like, imagine being Ernesto and hearing that your brother got one opportunity to say something to someone and he didnāt choose you.
Like, I just imagine Ernesto nodding to himself and looking up at the sky like, āOkay, bro. Thatās fine. Thatās cool. Fuck me, I guess. Fucking simp.ā

Sometimes I think about how Finn must have felt about Robin as he got older.
I know a lot of the fandom like to headcanon that Finn and Robin had been friends for a long time, but I think the evidence points to the opposite. I think they were newer friends.
We see Robin tell Finnās bullies not to mess with him again. And they listen (until Robin gets taken). Itās obviously the first time heās done that, which points to their friendship being newer (although I think Robin probably also tried not to immediately get involved because it would only make Finn look weaker).
We also get Finn asking Robin about his fight with Moose. The conversation is about this fight but it also feels like itās about fighting in general. Finnās just now asking because theyāre just now close enough for the conversation.
I say all of that to say, that in the basement, Finn didnāt hold back on Robin being his best friend. He said theyād be together again, that he missed him. And Robin rebuffed him. Finn wasnāt going to go out like him, Finn needed to get out for him. Itās what he needed to hear in the moment, butā¦
But later he thinks about it. Because he starts to wonder if he meant as much to Robin as Robin did to him. He wonders if he was important to him, or just a man like several others who he didnāt want to leave behind because Robin was a good person.
Heād wonder even more as he got older because the Grabber never goes away. Finn sees him in his nightmares, in the corner of his vision, looking straight at him across the way. But there is no Robin. The Grabber feels like heās haunting him, but Robin is just gone.
He starts to feel stupid, guilty, humiliated by his feelings for Robin. Because Robin was his best friend but he starts to think maybe he was just someone Robin liked well enough.
Finn canāt stomach seeing Ernesto. He looks like Robin, but even if he didnāt, Finn feels like a fraud. He doesnāt look out for Robinās younger brother because the thought of it makes him feel desperate, like heād be fighting to feel like he mattered to Robin.
So instead he settles for trying to be like Robin. Because even if Robin hadnāt actually seen him as a best friend, he was still someone Finn admired. He was still the reason he got out of the basement.
When he tells Ernesto at Alpine Lake that if Robin is looking over anyone, itās not him. He doesnāt say it to comfort Ernesto. He says it to drive the knife into himself. He says it because maybe Robin does watch his kid brother and he doesnāt want to embarrass himself, like Robinās ghost might be there watching and wondering why Finn ever thought they were close.
Itās not until everything finishes at Alpine Lake, when the one message Robin leaves is to him that he finally feels relief.
Because Robin didnāt have to give him a message at all. He could have given it to Ernesto. But he chose Finn. And Finn sobs because for the first time in years he thinks he meant as much to Robin as Robin did to him.
roald dahl was antisemitic and misogynistic. george orwell was openly homophobic. edgar allan poe married his 13 year old cousin. dr seuss cheated on his wife (and was racist as well as antisemitic!). hp lovecraft was racist as fuck. anyways theyāre fucking dead itās not like youāre enabling their behaviors in the afterlife or something. then again I think they bleed into the books so uh keep an eye out for that
the difference between these old white guys and jk rowling is that the former group is all dead. jk rowling is alive and using your money to oppress trans people
as much as i love finney i cant imagine him with anyone who isnt robin especially ernesto because i want him to suffer the pain of never being able to see the boy he loves most ever again but has to see his sister fall in love with a guy who looks so similar to his dead lover
The closest rinney ever got to be in canon again was Finn finding splatters of Robin's blood on the mattress.
I do really love it when women write graphic and fucked up things. I feel like so often people react to fucked up fiction with āof course a disgusting man would write this šā and it often carries an unspoken (honestly sometimes spoken) message of āa womanās PURE and DELICATE and FEMININE mind could NEVER think of something this VILEā. Thank you women in fucked up fiction š«”

listen. Iām all for āwriters deserving of having their boundaries respectedā but this is so funny to me and like the funniest part is that I donāt think itās even grounded in reality. like, how are you going to require proof that your readers are in your specific age range? why does it matter to you how old your readers are??? they are???? strangers???? why do you care? how does it affect you? š
but to be fair, this is some shit I did when I was 12 and thought I was edgy too. so I get it.
Mind your heart, M'Lady!
as a writer, itās very important that you know this: whenever you tell yourself āthis will only be one-chapter-longā that is a lie. your brain is lying to you. it wonāt, in fact, be just a short one-shot

susan's little smile and quiet "thanks" when father christmas gives her the horn fucks me UP man like she's been so snarky and sensible and defensive the entire movie (even making that comment about "whatever happened to 'battles are ugly affairs'?" when he gives her the bow and quiver just seconds before) and then he looks at her and he sees her and he says here is a way to get help when you need it, no matter what. and you can see clearer than you've ever seen it that susan is scared. susan is so fucking scared. she's trying so hard to Be An Adult, to be the responsible one, the smart one, the one who has her head on straight. her mother told her to be a big girl and she's doing her damndest but she's just a kid! she's a scared kid and she has no one but her siblings to turn to and edmund's gone and lucy's so small and peter, bless him, is peter, so she's got to keep HIS head on straight too, and there's a war back home and a war here and she's supposed to fight in it, and everyone keeps calling her queen and telling her she's got some great and violent destiny, and susan pevensie is scared. and nobody really gets or acknowledges that, i think, until father christmas meets her gaze and gives her the horn. the horn and the quiver. her own sort of shield. does anyone else think about this. can anybody hear me. HELLO.
