bio
Life was normal growing up in the Tejeda household. Daniela was the only child, and with her father working in IT, the girl often found herself spending a lot of time with him. Technology fascinated her, it was something that she wanted to understand from deep within even when she was a little kid. And with understanding it, came the wish to explore and ask questions. What if she did one thing? What if she did the other? Curiosity-driven, Daniela learned a lot, first from her father, then from the books in the library, and then from experience.
At first, she simply wanted to see what it would be like to crack the code and access the schoolâs grades. The system was ancient, given the times, but it was easy, and Daniela didnât get caught. So she tried again, increasing the difficulty in her little tasks, never once getting caught. It was thrilling, it was exciting, and she wanted to experience more. She was a smart girl, her grades were superb, and it only made sense to her parents that sheâd follow her fatherâs footsteps and become an IT specialist. Daniela bought into the plan, but her dream was different.
None of it mattered, in the end, for a small yet important reason; in the middle of her last year in school, Daniela fell pregnant. She was absolutely in love with her childâs father, and the two were set on creating the perfect family together. She had her doubts about it more often than she was willing to admit it, yet, still, Daniela tried. Her parents were angry at her for throwing her life goals away like that, but the couple was determined, despite Danielaâs doubts. In Autumn the same year, their child was born, and the couple was set up to prove everyone wrong.
Yet, Daniela wasnât as ready as she thought she would be. She loved her boyfriend, and she loved her child, but peaceful life in Long Island just wasnât for her. So, at first, she started with messing around online, picking up one small job after another. She liked it, it kept her busy, and more often than not, it scratched that itch she had at the back of her mind. However, over the years, it wasnât enough, and once more, Daniela got reckless.
That is, at least, until one day, when her boyfriend was at work, the doorbell rang. Opening the door, Daniela was met by an unfamiliar man, who knew everything about her. Was it the police, coming to arrest her? While the man was almost dressed the part, he was as far from the police as possible. Instead of coming to arrest her, he came with a proposal; a job, far more challenging than anything sheâs done before. The money promised was great, the risk even better, and it caught her attention. The man was someone she didnât know, and yet, she agreed to it immediately.
It was difficult, trying to explain to her boyfriend that she was going to stay over at her friendâs place, yet, after a small argument, he agreed. And so Daniela took off, finally getting to explore a fraction of the world that she had never seen before. It was dangerous, it was exciting, and it was everything sheâs ever wanted.
The jobs continued, with the man appearing every once in a while, and Daniela accepting immediately. However, as the jobs increased in difficulty, the chances of her being caught increased as well. Family life was becoming difficult for her to manage, and it pained the woman to admit that she wanted a life of adventure and recklessness a lot more than she wanted a family life. So when her child was six, Daniela faked her death and took off.
That was the real beginning of Cipher. It was her code name, one she absolutely loved, and soon enough, that was the only name her team and clients knew her by. Her real name was gone, and she went by many others, depending on whether her identity was revealed or not. Her life led her to many places, to exploring huge parts of the world, and learning more than she could have ever thought she could learn. There were plenty of downsides- the risk of losing her life was always there- yet she absolutely loved it. It was only late, late at night, when she was absolutely alone, when she missed her child and her boyfriend. Yet, Cipher knew they were safe and secure this way, and it was all that mattered.
Five years ago, under the new alias- Joy Nazario- Cipher had finally made her way back to New York. It was the first time in decades that she had gone there, and maybe she should have blamed nostalgia on it, she knew it was purely down to work. New York was the hub for criminals, the hub for those who needed her services, and so she settled down there. Still, she remained as far away from Long Island as possible, knowing that it was a life she would never have.
