I haven't talked about it for a bit, but Journey Inc is a ttrpg I am writing. I am putting parts of it on here, in between various things that catch my interest. Intro chapter below-
Thank you for calling Journey Inc! My name is Bob, how can I help you today?
Uh… What is this?
Well, there are a lot of answers to that question. The easiest answer is that this is a framing device to provide information to the reader in an interesting and engaging way.
Ah, so, you and I are just here to make things more fun for anyone who might want to play this game, but only exist as long as someone is reading this page?
Ignoring the terrifying implications of that… yes.
So, I guess I’ll ask again, what is all of this?
This is Journey Inc, a roleplaying game about a fantasy call center.
Is that a fantasy call center as in a “call center that does not exist in the real world,” or a fantasy call center as in “a call center that exists in a fantasy world?”
Yes!
Okay, I walked right into that one. So, what is a roleplaying game?
Do you really not know?
Come on, there’s a small chance that this is someone’s very first game, we might as well lay it out.
All right then. A roleplaying game is a game that is played by taking on the roles of different characters. Most of the players take on the role of a single character in this world, working towards a common goal, causing drama, and enjoying themselves, called the Representative (Rep.) One person is the guy behind the scenes, in this game called the Call Center Master (CCM), they take on the role of any Non Player Characters (NPCs), such as the callers, the management of the center, and whoever else needs to be brought up.
Okay, that sounds really cool! What makes Journey Inc different from other games? A couple of things, really.
First of all is the setting. We’re not aware of any other roleplaying games that take place in an interdimensional call center. Second, the dice! We’ve got an oddly inspired system that we think will make people happy. And lastly, there’s The Book, rules that are made up as you game.
Well, then, let’s get started!
