The surprise was overwhelming. Anne couldn't stop smiling, that signature smile of hers now even brighter thanks to her natural glow and the unmistakable sparkle in her eyes that had been there ever since she got pregnant and Josh came back into her life. Suddenly, everything had fallen into place. She finally understood how everything she had been through had led her to this moment, and seeing Joshua standing there, looking unbelievably handsome and so proud of her, was all the confirmation she needed that she was exactly where she was meant to be.
She was endlessly grateful for Joshua's love and support. He had been so attentive, always protective of both her and their baby, but this... this was something else. Still wrapped in his arms, Anne felt completely safe, as if the chaos surrounding her had simply faded away. "Did you say you wanted a picture with me?" she teased with a playful grin. "Do you want an autograph too? I can sign your boxers if you'd like. I don't mind." She smirked as her fingertips brushed along Joshua's stubbled jaw, almost as though she needed to convince herself that he was really there. "Thank you for being here," she whispered against his lips as the rest of the world melted away until it was just the two of them. "I couldn't have expected anything less from you... You really know how to surprise me." She tilted her head slightly, her smile never fading.
"So... do you have something special planned, or are we just going to improvise? We're pretty good at that." A soft chuckle escaped her as her hands slowly traced down his shoulders and across his chest before finding his hand. She intertwined their fingers and gently led him away from the crew and staff. "I thought I was going to end up alone and bored in my hotel room," she admitted, giving his hand a gentle squeeze. Then she suddenly shook her head with an amused smile. "This little one always goes crazy whenever they hear your voice," she confessed, resting her free hand against the side of her belly as she felt the baby move beneath her palm. "So..." she looked up at him with a playful raise of her eyebrow. "What's the plan, Mr. Hathaway?" she asked with a grin. "Do I need to change, or is this enough to seduce you on our date tonight?"
For a moment, it really felt like it was just the two of them in the room together. Nothing else existed or mattered when he looked at two out of the three most important people in his life. He felt so content where he was at with Anne. Every mistake, every failure, and every doubt led him to where he knew that Anne was meant to be his person. "I'm so proud of you," he whispered softly against her lips.
Chuckling, Joshua nodded. "I would love for you to sign my boxers, but I think going somewhere a little more private would be ideal. I wouldn't want anyone to think that they even have the option to look at me when I'm all yours." The touch of her hand on his stubble made his heart flutter. He was so in love with Anne, and he knew he was just by how hard his heart would beat whenever she was around. He never experienced that with anyone, not even his ex-wife.
"Of course, dear. I wouldn't miss it and you for anything else in the world," Joshua assured her. He kissed her once more and reached for her hand, giving it a gentle squeeze. He rested his free hand on Anne's belly, hoping to feel their little one move. "Do they really?" he asked with a big smile on his face, "Maybe I'll spend some time talking to them tonight after our date." Thinking about just how lucky he was to have another child enter the world made his heart full, and to know that he was already loved by them made it even fuller. "No need to change. You are perfect as you are. I was thinking we would start with dinner and then find something fun to do. Maybe go shopping together? Your pick, dear."
