You sighed, flicking your finger across the screen of your phone to dismiss the headline. You hadn’t even been filming your new movie for a month and people were already making up rumors regarding you and your new co-star. You knew that it was inevitable, things like this always happened when young, single people were cast opposite each other. The two of you had actually grown quite close in the short amount of time that you had known each other, just not in the way that the public thought.  

“Another article about you and Ben?” Natasha, your hair stylist, asked as she ran her curling iron through your hair. It seemed to be that any time you would stumble across another one of these tabloids, you would always be in her chair. The two of you had spent quite a bit of time making fun of the fake sources and quotes that people came up with.

“I guess I don’t know why I’m complaining. I should be honored to be linked with one of Hollywood’s most eligible bachelors.” You laughed, locking your phone and pressing it into your lap. Ever since Ben’s part in the Queen biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody, girls around the world had been fawning all over him. He had plenty of other high-profile acting gigs, but BoRhap seemed to put him on the map.

“Well, what happens when you do meet someone you like? You don’t think they would be intimidated by these rumors?”  

You loved Natasha, but she always seemed to think more of your dating life than there actually was. You hadn’t met anyone in a long time that sparked your interest enough to form a relationship with. Your career was your first priority, and you didn’t see that changing any time soon.

“I don’t think we have to worry about that.” You sighed, watching Natasha work her magic in the mirror in front of you. She gave you a knowing smirk, but didn’t say anything more about it. Before you knew it, your hair was finished, and you were ready to head to set.

“Have a good day of filming! Tell your boyfriend I said hi!” Natasha called after you as you excited her trailer. You just laughed and shook your head as you made your way to the first filming location.  

It was still fairly early in the morning so there weren’t as many people as there normally were. An assistant passed by you and handed you a cup of coffee, which you happily accepted. You had grown used to the early call times, but you could still use a little pick-me-up every now and again.

When you arrived, you saw that you were one of the first ones. Ben still hadn’t shown up yet, and neither had any of your other co-stars. It was just you, the director, and some of the cameramen and assistants. Since the set had a couch, you took a seat on it and sipped your coffee contently. You flipped open one of the scripts that was sitting on the table in front of you and went over a few of your lines again. You had them all pretty much down, but it didn’t hurt to have a little refresher.

You were so wrapped up in reading that you didn’t hear Ben approach. It wasn’t until you heard a voice that you didn’t recognize that you finally looked up.  

Ben was standing in front of you, an amused smirk on his lips as he talked to a taller, brunette man. Both of them looked down at you at the same time, and you felt your breath catch when your eyes met those of the newcomer.

“G’morning YN. I see you’re early, as usual.” Ben teased, grabbing your discarded cup of coffee and lifting it to his lips. A disappointed frown formed on his face when he realized that it was empty.

“Am I early, or are you late?” You teased back, tearing your eyes away from his friend and raising your eyebrows at Ben. He just shrugged.

“I didn’t want to be rude to my friend here. He came to visit, so that kind of kept me from being thirty minutes early like you always are. Do you know Gwilym?”

Your eyes fell on the tall man again, and once you thought about it, you realized that you did recognize him from somewhere.  

“Brian May, right?” You asked, standing from your seat to extend your hand. Gwilym’s blue eyes lit up and he nodded. “You were fantastic in Bohemian Rhapsody.”

It had taken you a few minutes longer to recognize him, due to the fact that he had grown his facial hair out. While Brian had been clean-shaven in the movie, you much preferred this look. It made him look more distinguished. More mature. More handsome.

“Thank you. That means a lot.” Gwilym replied, his hand slipping into yours in a firm shake. A jolt shot through you at the contact, but you pretended like you didn’t feel it. Ben was watching the two of you, and you didn’t want to give him the satisfaction of knowing that you thought his friend was attractive.  

“We’re about ready to start!” The director called, and you handed the script that was in your hand to Ben.

“So, Gwilym, will you be hanging out with us all day, or are you heading off?” You asked, bouncing on the balls of your feet. You always got a little antsy right before you started filming. Plus, the thought of him staying to watch you made you a little nervous. Gwilym’s eyes moved between you and Ben and he shrugged.

“I don’t really have much else to do today. Might be kind of fun to stay and watch.” You beamed up at him, and then glanced over to Ben who was looking at you with narrowed eyes. Before he could see you blush, you turned away from him to walk over to the chair you were to be sitting in when the scene started.

“Wonderful. Maybe you can give Ben here some pointers. He’s been a little… off.” You were joking, of course, just wanting to see the look on Ben’s face. Gwilym only laughed as he clapped Ben on the shoulder and then moved to stand off to the side.

Ben walked over to you, his back turned to his friend, and he leaned over the arm of the chair you were sitting in so that he could talk low enough for only you to hear.

“What do you think you’re doing?” He asked, a smile in his voice. You looked up into his hazel eyes, giving him your best look of innocence.  

“Why Benny, I have no idea what you’re talking about.” You fluttered your eyelashes at him playfully, a bright smile spreading across your lips.  

“Do you… do you have a thing for Gwil?” He asked, his face going serious for a second.

“I’ve only just met the man, Ben.” You replied, flipping your hand in a dismissive gesture. “Besides, you know you’re the only one for me.”

You were back to teasing, as you leaned up onto the arm of the chair and pressed a sloppy kiss against his cheek. Ben chuckled as he pulled away and wiped his cheek with the back of his hand. You knew that he saw the same articles you did, and you would occasionally call each other ‘work wife’ or ‘work husband’ as a joke. This kind of behavior wasn’t uncommon between the two of you, which continued to fuel the rumors, but the two of you knew what was real and what wasn’t.  

“Places everyone!” The director called, and Ben took his seat on the couch that was situated next to your chair. He gave you one last knowing look, before turning his attention to the cameras.  

You looked over to where Gwilym was standing behind some of the crew, and caught him smiling in your direction, causing your heart to flip. I’ve only just met him, you scolded yourself. But sometimes it didn’t take long for spark to ignite.
