Smokingβ Hot Type
While Iβve never smoked, and would discourage anyone from doing so, there was an age of innocence and exuberance around tobacco. Smoking pipes and cigarettes was a sign of sophistication and your choice of brand was another way to project your identity. Β
I assume, like the perfume industry, the product was incredibly cheap to produce and sold for large profits, therefore consumers had to be convinced of its luxury through with catching packaging.
Many of the above packages above are fromΒ W.D. & H.O. WillsΒ of Bristol, England, which was founded in 1786. These likely date from the late Victorian period, as the company merged in 1901. With this in mind, the vividness of colours, including metallics, the number of colours printed together and the lettering quality are very impressive.
These beautiful examples were collected in a scrapbook by an unidentified enthusiast and are now being looked after byΒ Clint HarveyΒ who kindly allowed me to photography them.

Snowboarding in general is cool. Snowboarding in an abandoned snowy waterpark? SO much cooler.
App Store Problems
The stage was set, native-React iOS javascript ready and an xcode project generated. Now to run... Build failed. What? Whoops I forgot to update xcode. So I popped open the App Store and hit update. And waited. Waited some more. Made a coffee. Came back and waited. Nothing happened. Hmm. The app store seems to be stuck. Where is the cancel button?? There didn't seem to be one. I went away out on to google. Nothing there either. Then I thought to myself this is a mac. The answer is probably glaring me in the face. I checked the menus, nothing. After an hour or so I found the solution. Was the solution intuitive? Nope. Is this what I expect from Apple? Nope. To solve the mac app store freeze I needed to cancel all the downloads and restart the process. To do this I magically needed to know to hold down the alt / option key on pause and it magically turned into a cancel. Come on Apple if your going to talk about good design and good user experience, can you please get the basics right??

A graphic hommage to the beautiful street art that covered the walls of Windmill Lane recording studio in Dublin. James Heffernan deconstructed his photography into colour tones of Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Key (with is black). In this light the work visually describes the rich Street Art legacy prevalent on Windmill Lane, Dublin. It was a place of rejuvenation and growth as artists constructed their masterpieces by adding to previous work or layering their work on top of their contemporaries. Sadly missed after its demolition this year, Windmill lane will be remembered fondly as a beautiful and inspiring place to walk through on the way to work. *If you enjoy this style let me know. I will be adding more pieces in the coming days. Part of a photography series on the famous Windmill Lane studio in Dublin. ------------------------- Products ------------------------- 17 individual products are available on James Heffernan's Redbubble page. Sales are made to Redbubble. International Shipping available.
