appliance design in 2026 seems to be aimed at creating as many points of failure as possible. reliable mechanical buttons are replaced touchscreens (and not even good touchscreens) on all sorts of devices for no fucking reason. if you design a fridge that needs the user to connect it to the internet and download an app, you are objectively a bad fridge designer. and i struggle to see a reason to put the back of the toilet inside of the wall other than a desire to make the jobs of plumbers harder
