Armand throwing in "Lestat lays with his mom" in the middle of confessing to 50 years of stalking Daniel is like jingling keys in front of a baby to me. or playing a subway surfers clip on top of a long video. I love them.

you know how some rappers sample moaning sometimes? I think Lestat should do that with Louis specifically
whoever decided that tank tops were unprofessional can choke on rocks why do I have to go to work in a thick ass t-shirt when there's literal heat advisory warnings outside
I’m so frustrated by the latest revelation that there was a cut scene of Armand attacking Lestat and Gabriella’s carriage as they flee Paris and I know I’m not alone in feeling this. It’s not just because we lost a cool Armand scene (although we did). It’s because of the vital character interactions that apparently weren’t considered a priority.
Armand chasing Lestat and Gabriella down to beg them to stay confirms that, from his point of view, Lestat did callously abandon him after he was no longer useful. And from Lestat’s point of view, it confirms that Armand will react violently and endanger his loved ones if he feels hurt and he was right to be afraid of him. In other words, it establishes the dynamic they’ve been stuck in ever since, and which I think is less than obvious to the viewer who hasn’t brought knowledge from the books.
And of course we have to set this against the number of scenes we have got which seem utterly pointless, like the long sequence in last week’s episode of the cop boarding the bus. I get budget comes into play here, and that was probably a cheap sequence to film. But that cut scene feels so important to me, they should have been bending heaven and earth to get it done. Why is the show not making more effort to focus on its core characters and their relationships, to tell an actual story that we care about, instead of gimmicky nonsense?
I have never used the word ‘baffled’ so often as I have in the last few weeks. Or the word ‘frustrated’.
my mom and I kind of have this running joke that my type in men usually leans towards "feminine", and the first example of this I shared was Alucard from Castlevania, who is probably still my favorite vampire of all time.
so when I convinced her to start watching IWTV and she saw Lestat, she immediately compared the two (long blond hair, vampire, European) and I just... that is so fucking funny to me bc well... no!
but now I have the image of these two in the same room and i'd pay an absurd amount of money to make it real 😭

the vampire lestat episode 4... my god.
i'm gonna need to watch it a couple more times to fully comprehend since it's just that kind of show but I need to write some points down just to sit with the fact that they're real and I watched that. out of order and rambly because i'm still in shock and there are definitely things I'm missing.
don't ask me to go NOWHERE this summer, imma be inside reading the source material 😂🙏🏼❤️🩹
why is armand in ohio? as a beautiful gift to me, personally, next—
no because it's the fact Armand could have just literally used a fake name (like Louis' "Thomas Pitt") but deliberately chose to introduce himself as Arun. the implications. somebody sedate me.
holy shit The Vampire Lestat e3... we should all kill ourselves

I am so tired of short-attention-span, trim-the-fat culture. All writing advice these days is for how to write like Chuck Palahniuk. "Cut 'think', cut 'feel', cut 'wonder' - only action, only pushing forward, show and move and move and move." What if I could emulate this style, and still don't want to? What if I want to write like Henry James, with three paragraphs of introspective musings between each dialogue line? The music advice is, "make it shortform, make it Tik-Tok compatible, make it punchy, hit the refrain as soon as possible." What if I want that 10-minute prog rock piece? What if I want that symphony? What if I want it slow and luxurious and lazy? Movies. Series. Poetry. Bodies. Everything is "trimmed trimmed trimmed trimmed, stripped bare, you have three seconds to win me over, make it airport chic." I don't want to win you over, then, I guess. I want the fat left it. I want the pleasure and the indolence and the indulgence. Fuck this art-advice that's always "your art needs Ozempic."
Feeling inspired... Might put off writing and think about it the whole time

I need to see Armand on that tour bus ASAP. There’s so much Devil’s Minion chapter chaos potential there.
I want him touching everything, going through everyone’s possessions, messing with the cameras and sound equipment, loosening the strings on all the guitars, critiquing the grammar in the band’s lyrics notebooks, running the shower and watching all the hot water run down the drain. I want him making potions out of everyone’s toiletries like little kids do. Maybe he puts Nair into all of Lestat’s hair products but you can never prove it was him.
And none of it’s malicious. That’s the key. He’s just exploring. He does that. He needs the enrichment. Daniel let him in so if you want to blame someone, it’s actually Daniel’s fault, but every time the band come back, there’s something slightly off.
Lestat knows it’s him. He just can’t catch him or prove it.
One thing I really appreciate so far about TVL (and this was true of IWTV s1&2 as well, though the frantic pace of TVL heightens it) is that you cannot watch this thing while playing on your phone.
So many shows these days are made to capitulate to second-screen viewers. Visual points are emphasised & re-emphasised so heavily that, if you're actually paying attention, you feel like you're being beaten over the head. Because they assume you aren't paying attention. Not fully.
The TVL showrunners really said: no, to hell with that. You're going to pay attention, properly, and if you don't, you will miss a lot.
The show goes a mile a minute and at times it's hard to actually keep up. I've had to rewind multiple times to catch small details, and I know I still missed enough that there will be rewatch value. It's full-on but simultaneously it's a breath of fresh air.

when i understood the proper meaning behind gabriella's "i see why you took her back" i was like. ofc gabriella immediately assumed that when louis had a daughter, he didn't want lestat (his husband) anymore. and ofc she guessed right that lestat wouldn't wanna "share" louis with claudia, because she's directly responsible for this worldview. that was actually a pretty good bit of writing there... now can she go back to the woods?
Daniel very pathetically saying he doesn’t have the cloud gift or the fire gift. ARMAND COME PICK UP YOUR 73 YEAR OLD TODDLER AND TEACHER HIM STUFF YOU DEADBEAT.
