Finding good tips on how to compress video for a Vimeo and Youtube release isn’t easy. But after some testing I’ve come up with these settings in the free program mpeg streamclip. It’s seems them both prefers the mp4 container over mov. With mov you get crushed blacks, so everything you’ve worked for is lost in the dark. So stick with mp4 and use the settings in the picture. You don’t really need the Multipass and B-Frames, but more thorough compression doesn’t hurt.
Cinema 4D MoGraph PolyFX baking solution! Sometimes obvious stuff in C4D doesn't work(!). You want to save some animation because of Team Rendering or likewise. But you can't find the solution. I often use NitroBake but it doesn't work everytime. For instance the Mograph PolyFX can't be baked with Mograph Cache. But if you follow these instructions you can bake the PolyFX, driven by any Mograph effector.
Make you object editable. Disconnect your object and turn off Preserve Groups. Add the Point Cache tag. You'll find it under character tags. Store State and Calculate Now the PolyFX is baked and you can turn off everything else and you can send it to team render without any problem
I updated the Metroid II: project with this fellow. Everything is made in C4D.
3D scan model in Cinema 4d.
I've done some 3d test with this free model from Ten24. It's a Modo scene but you get an .obj file and all the textures you'll need. I've done my renders in Cinema4D with the use of Lambertian (diffuse) in the Reflectance for the color channel and Beckmann for the reflection. No use of GI, AO and light, just HDRI on a sky object.

Solution - Keep-Alive! Cinema 4d problem
This is a specific problem for Cinema 4d r16 team render.
After an update I got this error message with "keep-alive", and long story short, I found a solution!
Open Cinema Team Render Client, open preference, look down the page and find "Open Preference Folder..."Â
Hit the button and go back in folder history and find the Maxon folder. Delete all the stuff after Maxon/ to reset all the Client settings. All these files are recreated after a Client restart.
Fix all your Team Render settings. Restart Cinema 4d. And KABOOM! it's back.
Good luck and happy rendering!

Show me your Hoverboard is a personal project I've been working on in 2014. The project is about creating your own layout to the Mattel Hoverboard that Marty McFly use in the film Back to the Future II. I've asked a lot of creative professionals to contribute with their own design.
You can see the whole project at Behance
Free project files! You can download my project file for creating your own hoverboard layout. This zip contain the CInema 4D file, with assets and everything you need to render your hoverboard. After Effects file for comping and Illustrator for creating your layout.

Dark room studio with 3D scan hand rendered in Cinema 4D physical render. To make this optimized I used zBrush to make a better topology flow and displacement map.
Followed a tutorial by Greyscalegorilla making gooy stuff in C4D.

Trying some architecture rendering from Cinema4D. This is from a free model at TurboSquid http://www.turbosquid.com/3d-models/house-max-free/384394 Testing light, shadows, material and textures to find a solution for this kind of rendering. Also tryed to make it as friendly as possible with vivid colors and clean surfaces.

The reason I made the picture is this weird thing.
Testing other topology technique. Zbrush it's the only way to roll. The model is a classic bust of Ajax, the mythical Greek hero.

My first retopology and uv-unwrapping. The retopology is done more or less by hand in Cinema 4d and that took a while. I just wanted to know how to do that in C4D before switching to Zbrush and do it automatic. So never again.
The uv-unwrapping is also something I've postponed to do, and I think it's stupid that there isn't any better in Cinema 4d. It should be so simple, but it isn't. I like to work procedural and hate the fact that I have to switch programs. But now I know how to do it I guess I'll do it again for client based projects.
I saw this cinema 4d paper plane tutorial and I thought of a third technique for making dashed splines. You can make this by using an alpha material channel. With this trick you can use the aerodynamics (or any other dynamic), trace the path, extrude lines and use material to make it dashed.
