In this part of the world, we don't celebrate Halloween like they do in western countries. Not a lot of people here know about how the holiday came to be. Most are not familiar with Samhain. I only learned about it and everything on paganism through books, documentaries and good 'ol internet. However, I did notice the increase on halloween parties hosted by malls and exclusive villages or subdivisions. An excuse to wear costumes perhaps? Maybe they have plenty of chocolates and candies to spare. I dunno but if I were to wear a costume, I'd go with something so disturbing or scary they'll ban me on the next party. Can't help but remember our elderly teacher in high school who had a lot of things to say about halloween and everything that came with it. Not one of them nice. Christmas pisses him off as well. Says we shouldn't celebrate false traditions. I do recall him telling us creepy stories though and how he insists that the white lady at the computer lab does exist. Hmmm... TREASURE Hello again! This is the reason I was unable to keep up with several inktober prompts. We had a week long work-related training at one of the best beaches in the world. Boracay! The first time I went there, I didn't like it. Mostly because I didn't appreciate the way the island was treated. I hated it more at night. I hated the loud music, drunk tourists and partying. I'm not used to people behaving like that on the beach. Nearly naked and intoxicated. We normally take a swim, play in the sand and eat grilled fish. Sometimes people get drunk and pick a fight but that usually happens during the San Juan festival. That's when families gather at the beach, eat lechon and douse each other with water to celebrate the feast. Now, it is magical. Truly a treasure. The sand felt different under my feet. The water looked cleaner. The tourists weren't behaving as roughly as before. I didn't see one mindless drunk anywhere on the beach. There was police visibility. The locals treated the island better. I did hear about that tourist who buried her child's used diaper on the beach. I hope she suffers from severe bowel movement for the rest of her life. Shame on her and the person who saw but didn't do anything to stop such crime. I highly appreciate the efforts of our government led by President Duterte. I'm not a fan of some of his works but he did great in restoring the island. Compared to Kite Runner, I didn't cry as much but still. I couldn't breath through my nose after Shuja left. Shuja was a dog by the way. Now, this quote I picked from Goodreads hits a spot. I'm not going to mention where in the book this line comes up. Nobody likes spoilers. Remember that next time you watch a movie. *cough* Endgame *cough* Anyway, this line reminded me of the traitors I crossed paths with. You know. It reminded me of X-Men and Hunger Games. It was packed with just the right amount of action and a bit of teenage angst. This line felt empowering while I was reading the book. It works well with what the protagonist is going through. How about in real life? Freedom in anonymity shouldn't be used for sinister purposes. It's sad how some people see anonymity as an opportunity to be violent and hateful to others. Especially online. Sigh. Don't forget what Uncle Ben said. "With great power comes great responsibility." Another @imaginedragons song I can't seem to stop listening to. The lyrics hits hard. I've been stepped on so many times by people I actually cared for. Yes, cared. Past tense. Now, I don't give a rat's ass if they drop dead all of a sudden. Oops, was that too harsh? Something a "nice girl" would and should never say? I've been told to stay the same and be myself despite all the "negativities" surrounding us yada yada yada. Let's be honest, that is just not possible. As humans, we learn from our experiences. I've only been existing in this world for 25 years and I actually learned quite a lot, if I may say so. One I've been denying for so long is... No matter how good of a person you are, no matter how sincerely kind and obedient you've been, you will still be hated on. Some people clearly take joy in hurting others. I don't know what's wrong with them. Must be a glitch. Hmmm... 🤔 I really thought people would be kind to me if I were kind to them. Myth busted! Yes, we're not supposed to ask for anyone's demise. Of course I'd never wish for anyone to actually die. My parents taught us to be respectfull, decent and patient. I've been respectfull to those who never earned or deserved it. I've been decent in word and deed. I can't say the same for my thoughts. My parent's say that's fine. No one is a saint. Even the ones declared by the church. They too were sinners. Gasp! You didn't know? Guess what, another myth busted! Lastly, I've been patient. Patient because I believe someone else is going to make them pay for the hurt they caused us. I still do believe in a higher power. So, relax enemies I won't go ballistic anytime soon. I'll continue praying for you to find something worthwhile to do with your lives. Something that doesn't involve scheming and spreading lies against other people. Meanwhile, I'll be more careful with who I'll allow into my life. Less people, less drama. I'll put a wall or 2 back up just to be safe. I'll still be respectfull, decent and patient but not in the same way I used to be. Let's make it in this world, okay? Don't grow too cold. She is widely known as Gabriela Silang, a Filipina revolutionary leader who fought for independence against Spain. This bad-ass fought on the front lines. My college roommate/big sis by heart introduced me to the songs of @imaginedragons and I immediately became a fan. The first song she had me listen to was Demons or was it Bleeding Out. Hmm. Anywho... I am still a big fan and from their latest album Origins, I absolutely love the track Natural. Whatever book I read affects the choice of songs I listen to. When I was reading Wuthering Heights, I had a playlist of classical music. Then I read Wicked and yes, I started listening to the songs from the musical. Currently, I am reading Marissa Meyer's ( @marissameyerauthor ) RENEGADES. No musical for this one and so I made a different playlist. A playlist that includes Imagine Dragon's Believer and several others from the same band. This specific song, in my opinion, is perfect for the book. It goes so well with Nova's past, current situation and emotion. I just started reading and maybe my song choice will change. But with what I've read so far, I BELIEVE this is THE SONG. Yes. Here is another series I had a hard time getting over with. I finished book three last year. Recently, I learned that another book is being released but this time it’s a “novella”. The title for this one is MEMENTO. I am thrilled because I believe it’s going to focus on A.I.D.A.N. or the Artificial Intelligence Defense Analytics Network that we grew to love in the series. Oh, the wait is making me <ERROR> restless. For the love of books! I NEED a copy.

Sigh. It's been so long since I last accessed my account. I decided to give Tumblr another try because I'm starting to get tired of Facebook. Several people I know are backing away slowly. They also find some peeps there...umm...a bit irritating. My friend left it a month a go and stuck with Instagram instead. I thought of doing the same but being part of our office's Social Media and Information Cluster, it's a no go. So, I'll just have to keep it and open only for work purposes. Now then. What to post?
