Found a temporary fix for my linux wifi woes yesterday! My wifi keeps dropping out with NetworkManager saying the hardware is missing, and wpa_supplicant saying it doesn't have permission to bring the interface up. The "fix" was to remove iwlwifi and then add it as a kernel module again, and restarting NetworkManager and wpa_supplicat!
