maybe the 'nonbinary to binary trans pipeline' is less of an example of how being nonbinary is a phase and more of an example of how nonbinary people are pushed to be binary in order to be taken seriously, even by supposed trans allies.
yes, there are people who realize they're binary trans after thinking they're nonbinary, but I dare say those people are the minority, and a lot of us are just forced to come out as binary trans instead so people will stop treating us like a lite edition of our AGAB. it's another form of being closeted.
There’s also the related phenomenon of “some of us literally never came out as binary and still identify as nonbinary, but as soon as we took steps to medically transition all our ‘allies’ decided we were binary for us”. Which is another form of being misgendered.
And btw, sometimes it’s both. Sometimes folks are aggressively misgendered for so long by other queer folks that they just give up and recloset into a binary identity that “matches” the things they’ve done to medically transition. And then people have the gall use that as proof that they were “right” about that person’s nonbinary identity being a stepping stone to being “actually” trans.
Perhaps this is an obnoxious take on my part, but video games should, above all things, prioritize the ability of being paused. At any point. Regardless of whether it's during a cutscene, a special animation, or a time-based puzzle. You never know when you're gonna get a phone call, or someone will need you in another room, or you get a sudden urge to go to the bathroom, or you hear your cat licking plastic, or whatever. Other entertainment mediums like books, movies, and music can be paused whenever you want. Why do some games not give you the same luxury??
I’m gonna be blunt: you bring little worth to a friendship if you’re apathetic toward the good in your friends’ lives. If you shrug when they come to you with little things that they’re happy about, they will eventually stop coming to you with anything and you’ll wonder why that relationship feels stale. Practice genuine excitement with the people in your life. If you see a friend try to downplay how excited they are about something just be like “yoooo! This is a cool thing! You’re a lovely person and you deserve lovely things! I love you!“
I think it’s easy to be someone people complain to, but it’s just as if not more important to be someone they know they’re allowed to be excited and proud and happy around.

the situation with harry potter is kind of unprecedented in some ways imo because it is maybe the largest media franchise in history to be created & owned by a single person who still has direct creative control over it. who is also a billionaire with significant cultural/political influence. like the usual "no ethical consumption under capitalism" type excuses shatter on impact when the bigoted author in question is logging onto twitter every day saying explicitly that when you buy the tim hortons ravenclaw donut she is using your donut money to fund the genocide of trans people. like with big franchises usually there's at least a little more diffusion of responsibility than this
