Jenny and Cassie

CASSIE’S FACE. You can not convince me otherwise that she had to get out of there so quick because she was about to break down over losing Jenny as her partner. 😭😭💔💔 SAME, CASSIE. SAME.

IN THIS ESSAY I WILL—

Ugh. Big Sky has no idea what I want. What a disappointment. I’m probably the biggest Big Sky fan out there. I know season one episodes by heart, I have watched them so many times. I have made fan vids and written fan fiction. No one loves Big Sky more than me and I will challenge every one of ya on that. As the premiere came closer, I just knew by the promos that they were going to disappoint.

1. NO hospital reunion scene between Jenny and Cassie. (It’s okay, I wrote three fics about that so if you are disappointed like me, you can go and read them on archive of our own.) Still, it’s a pretty pivotal moment for both of them, and we don’t get to see it on screen?? Jenny flatlines and you skip ahead 6 weeks? Cassie gets strangled and we don’t get to see her deal with that trauma? The way Cassie cried over Jenny on the pavement, warranted the scene where she finds out that she is still alive. Big miss on the emotional scale there.

2. We don’t need to see Jenny jump anything with a penis that looks her way. I hope he bites it soon like the other two. And yeah, right, she would not be having sex six weeks after her insides got shredded and rearranged. It hurt her to laugh but she can go two rounds?? Dumb.

3. Cassie is NOT into Lindor. She is pissed at him for pushing that unsafe, unapproved outing with Ronald that led to her getting strangled and Jenny getting shot. You can’t make her smile over a dumb dog and make all that go away. See above, Cassie crying and sobbing over Jenny on the pavement while Lindor was unconscious in the car. Did she shed even one tear over him? Did she even glance his way when he was being wheeled on a gurney? NO. Her heart and loyalty lie with Jenny, not Lindor. Plus, major dad vibes. Just no.

4. I’m not watching the show to see half of the scenes split between Jenny, Tubb, new deputy and Travis, and the other team be Cassie, Jerrie, Lindor, and Denise. I fell in love with the show because CASSIE AND JENNY were partners. And that is rarely shown on tv. Please. I can see guy/girl partners and scenes on literally every other show on television. What you had with Jenny and Cassie was unique and beautiful. I’m in tears and feel like I lost my best friend. Goodbye, favorite show. 😭💔

BONUS 5. NO ONE cares about Legarski and Ronald at this point. Let them go and focus on the new storylines.

When Jenny picked Cassie up that morning, she looked exhausted. Her face was puffy and the way she heaved her body into the bronco, it looked like she hadn’t slept in days.

“Are you okay?” Jenny asked her with a slight smirk, and Cassie flashed her a don’t even start look.

“Yeah, yeah. I’m fine. I just have some indigestion from something I ate last night, I guess,” she said. “I’ll be fine. I took some TUMS.”

They were on the way to observe an exchange between their client and his ex-boss. It was supposed to be just a normal day of domestics. Jenny kept glancing over at Cassie—who was breathing deeply—and wanted to get this job over with so she could get her home. She did not look well.

But the day took a turn and they ended up far from normal. They had followed their client into an abandoned restaurant so they could photograph the exchange. Before they even realized why, shots were ringing out all around them. Jenny pulled Cassie down to safety behind the bar.

When they realized they were made and shots were being directed toward them, they had no choice but to return fire.

Jenny glanced at Cassie as she stopped firing, to lean her back up against the bar. She raised her face to the ceiling and let out a groan.

“ARE YOU HIT?” Jenny yelled over at her.

“Nooo,” Cassie breathed out. She leaned forward now over her legs. “It’s just my stomach,” she said, panting.

The way she looked, and the way she sounded, seemed oddly familiar to Jenny. But she had no time to think about that. While she had been distracted, their assailants had time to advance on their location. She looked up to see their client—and his boss— side by side with their weapons pointed at her and Cassie.

“You’re coming with us,” they said. They grabbed both of them by the arms.

Cassie moaned as she was pulled to her feet.

“Ahhh!” she cried out and doubled over.
