True love is a different story. When it happens, individuals usually feel in touch with each other’s core identity. Embarking on such a relationship is frightening precisely because we feel there is no place to hide. We are known. All the ecstasy that we feel emerges as this love nurtures us and challenges us to grow and transform. Describing true love, Eric Butterworth writes: “True love is a peculiar kind of insight through which we see the wholeness which the person is – at the same time totally accepting the level on which he now expresses himself – without any delusion that the potential is a present reality. True love accepts the person who now is without qualifications, but with a sincere and unwavering commitment to help him achieve his goals of self-unfoldment – which we may see better than he does.” Most of the time, we think that love means just accepting the other person as they are. Who among us has not learned the hard way that we cannot change someone, mold them and make them into the ideal beloved we might want them to be. Yet when we commit to true love, we are committed to being changed, to being acted upon by the beloved in a way that enables us to be more fully self-actualised. This commitment to change is chosen. It happens by mutual agreement. Again and again in conversations the most common vision of true love I have heard shared was one that declared it to be “unconditional.” True love is unconditional, but to truly flourish it requires an ongoing commitment to constructive struggle and change.

A star bursts in the sky and falls to earth (Aries) and begins to reflect the beauty and the gold (Taurus) before it makes a connection in a constellation (Gemini) and dreams a story of mythology (Cancer) and the Will of God is declared (Leo) and the divine nature is seen in action (Virgo) 

Pisces is the grand finale, the return to oneness. Aries is the experience of ‘oceanic consciousness’ or the perception of unity with everything… until we begin provoking, getting reactions, and realising we can influence our environment, so the illusion of separation begins. The journey is seeing how we operate and exist as an individual with the universal backdrop, as a functioning tool of the cosmic network rather than a subject of it. There is the awareness and sensation of a grand celestial force as an energy that requires an authentic interface to express through. The divine nature is manifesting through free, undiluted self-prophetic direction. Declaring a personal autonomy and sense of inner substance involves socially experimenting with behavioural conduct and action to figure out the route to getting the desired response. There is the need to directly experience of counteraction or consequence for provocation, for example refusing to simply accept being told that ‘the blocks will fall if you build any higher” and doing it anyway to watch the teeter, hear the crash and know for yourself. the ‘risk’ associated with Aries is not intentional in the regard that the concept of mortality has not been conclusively integrated. 

In Taurus we establish a sense of inner value, personal pleasure, and Aries has figured out ‘I’ have desires and how to get it, and Taurus is about attaching to these, establishing ownership and ‘what belongs to me is part of me’, you can see this as infants become very possessive and incessantly proclaim that ‘it’s mine’. The gesture of ownership and belonging is a function of the establishing awareness of inner value, reassurance, and security. The comforter that is carried everywhere they go is the faithful constant in their expanding sensory environment. Venus is the ruler of Taurus and the glyph is shaped like a handheld mirror, Taurus is when we start to recognise our own reflection and acquire our likes, dislikes, favourite colour, tastes, song, animal, book and so on. This is when sights and sounds are entrancing, leisurely pleasure is the regular, and the focus is on the most sensory active stimulus around because these capacities are most enhanced now

The light switches on in Gemini, the eyes and mind spark and sharpen. Now the sensory and the self has been recognised, Gemini begins to occupy the mind with thoughts and connective signals. Now there are questions, and there is also is a way to enquire, so this is when the term ‘why’ is part of every sentence. The whole orientation is shaped for learning, developing the intellect, synthesising words into thoughts. Every activity is a learning experience, every senseless conversation and phonetic is being absorbed and circulated, and playtime is incredibly active and imaginative. It’s the process of environmental interaction, converging sounds into language, developmental play, the earliest eduction from the parents, siblings, and primary teachers. It’s when we begin to identify and recognise and bring our little world like our neighbourhood and school, and actively co-operative and respond to social discussion and interactions. The generating capacity to articulate and express the inner state, mental activity, and understand and contribute to conversation is the sense of connection inherent to Gemini

Cancer is when these early experiences and interactions become conditioned, and there is the beginning of interrelation with tribal sharing, the family unit, and belonging. There is identification with emotions and the environment that is depended on to feel safe and meet our needs. Memories and dreams that can be recalled begin, the ‘little voice’ of the spirit guide activates, and the bonds created are more than survival mechanisms. We begin to observe the dynamics of life, the hierarchies, culture, faith, the expectations, and the stress. It’s the short period where we catch a glimpse of the world and the life that is waiting for us, the psychological base is constructed in response to these experiences, for example receiving the support that shapes confidence, or if there is a need to be prepared and guarded for a threatening and brutal world. It involves building defences because we experience relevant circumstances where our sense of stability is ripped out from beneath us, like our mother letting go of our hand as we go to school for the first time. It’s a big thing for something little, the raw sense of aloneness, abandonment, and separation from our source of security, so we build the defences that brace us for coping when the similar sensation arises. Now that Gemini has provided a way of describing sensations, there seems like there is no way to stop feeling them

Leo is when this process begins to integrate and there is a firm sense of where we came from, what we desire, what satisfies and inspires us, and the ways we are described, perceived, and recognised by others. This is displayed through the powerful interface expression, a creative declaration of the self in all of its glory. The ego is constantly beating the drum and demanding verification and inflating of its existence. There is also the blooming of hearts desire, the longing to give and receive love in a way we haven’t experienced before, autonomous of the family unit, conditional and on our own terms. There is developing self-resonance, social self-consciousness, and the desire for acceptance, popularity, and positive or negative attention. In Cancer, we required the attention of nurturing, but in Leo, it re-affirms our existence and the way that we need other people to need us. The Leo stage of development typically involves the introduction of accolades, awards, and rewards for winning such as through school or sports. So while the ego is beginning to demonstrate its flair, radiance, and talents, this period can also stimulate the comparison to other people and the awareness of inequalities that become complexes. It’s also when we begin to put the natural talents that we discovered through play into action, the creative writer starts to scribble, the artist begins to apply images, the musician begins read music, the water baby begins to train  

The door into Virgo is not as easy to enter as the ones before, you have to do a fair amount of reflection and rearranging to fit inside. Mercury makes its second appearance after gemini in the influence of ruler and exalter so the mind is very stimulated here, the bell starts ringing and thoughts begin experimenting with dividing, acquire variables, repeating, and predicting an outcome. The glare of Leo is still very much on us, but this time it’s projecting our flaws and inadequacies. The need is to repair and resolve these inequalities and prime skills and talents to make a contribution, to possess an ability or trade that we are responsible for, that makes us indispensable and substantial. It’s when we adopt self-accountability, set our appointments, choose our own diet and schedule, and establish how we conduct our everyday living, entering the profession at the bottom and labouring, advancing, and certifying upward. The spiritual work begins in Virgo in the preparation for ascension and redemption in Pisces, the sign opposing its axis. The facilitation here is awareness of body and soul, the realisation of patterns and law, and the painful realisation that something larger than this ‘me’ and ‘self’ exists. The task is reconciling personal with selfless. The empty space where the applause of Leo is nothing but an echo is slowly opening for inviting the universal empathy in Pisces  In the previous 5 experiences we acquired the fresh spirit of existence and importance in Aries, a sense of value and awe in Taurus, a brilliant mind in Gemini, a sense of belonging and safety in Cancer, and the joy of spontaneous creative demonstration in Leo, and now in Virgo it’s time to figure out a way to give this to other people
