A modern retelling of A Midsummer Night's Dream
Synposis: On an ordinary night where university students study for their midterms, six couples' and two fairies' story is interwined in the name of love.
β³ Jay Ryuk Rinas [Lysander] βΈ A quiet, thoughtful, passionate academy nerd who comes from an immigrant family. His father is an academic and he immigrated from South Korea when he was in his mid 20s. His father's passion about his profession influenced him in his childhood and it led him to pursue a career in academy. He is in love with Heather since his first year, but he just needed a little encouragement to open his heart.
β³ Heather Vasilias [Hermia] βΈ She comes from an old aristocratic family in England and only daughter of the house. A brave, stubborn and passionate girl. She is supposedly engaged to Darius Byrone, a son of another aristocratic family in England. However, she has other plans than marrying Darius, her childhood friend. She is smitten with Jay, a sweet lover boy.
She studies Ancient History.
β³ Darius Byrone [Demetrius] βΈ Only son of an old aristocratic family in England. Even though he seems to follow the path his family chose for him, he is an indecisive and a womanizer boy. Sometimes he spends his nights with Helena at her home. He claims it is all fun and games, but deep down, there might be more than fun in their affair. (He is not aware of his feelings for Helena yet.)
He Studies International Relations and Economy.
β³ Helena Monide [Helena] βΈ Youngest daughter of divorced parents. Her small and messy family comes from working class. A literature lover, and has a secret notebook full of her poems. She led a quiet, shy and intoverted life until university, where she decided to open up to the world. Sometimes she spends her night with Darius, who she is desperately in love with despite knowing his careless nature.
She studies English Literature.
β³ Oberyn Kingsley [King Oberon] βΈ One of the ancient and oldest fairy on earth. He left his forest to live in big cities and mingle in with the humanity. He loves modern life despite his hatred for humans. He was a king before 20th century, he is still the king of forests actually, but now he lives as a professor in England. His marriage goes through a tumultous phase.
He studied English Literature.
β³ Tina Queenie [Titania] βΈ One of the ancient and oldest fairies and beings on earth. Despite loving the forest so much, she followed her husband and eternal partner Oberon to the city, modern life. She is the queen of forests, and hopes to return to the forest one day. She is fond of flowers as well as her husband. (Nowadays she doubts her fondness of her husband though.)
β³ Jen Ryuk Rinas [changeling] βΈ Younger sibling of Jay. Their father's passion for academy also influenced her but in a different way. She is intrigued by literature, and imagines a future where she is a successful writer. Also, she is the favorite student of Oberyn even though she is not aware of it. She loves to drop by Titania's flower shop as well.
She studies English Literature.
β³ Robin Goodfellow [Puck] βΈ A fairly old and mischievous fairy boy under King Oberon's command. He left forest for modern life in a big city. Although he loves the chaotic life in city, he longs for forests deep down.
She works in university's library.
β³ Bloom [Peaseblossom] βΈ A loyal, quick tempered fairy who is considered young compared to Puck. She also left the forest for her queen despite missing her wings and the life she lived in forest every day. Also, she cannot stand Puck's sly a*s. (Her own words.)
She works in Tina's flower shop.
β³ Nic Boone [Nick Bottom] βΈ A single and messy senior lecturer who works in the same university with Oberyn Kingsley. He has a reputation among his students solely based on his dashing appearance but he is not aware of it. He also does not notice Oberyn's one sided beef with him.
He studied English Literature.
Well, hello. First of all, I would like to start by saying English is not my native language but I have studied English language and literature in uni (as you can see above lol). Although I know English enough (I believe), there may be mistakes that I missed and I am sorry for those mistakes.
To sum up, I was actually releasing this story weekly on Wattpad but a few weeks ago the platform was banned in my country. Honestly, I have been writing stories since I was in secondary school, and Wattpad became the place where I can share my original stories and fanfictions. I had many stories and ideas on my mind that I wanted to share with people and the world, but it was taken from me abruptly, so since then I really do not know what to do about it. I feel bummed out about the whole situation, yet I can nothing do about it. I also love doing these collages, covers for my stories and I was saving them to share on my story as the it progress, but since I do not know another platform where I can publish my og stories and put these media, I wanted to share them on my tumblr blog because this is the only place I could think of at the moment. I hope you like it too. If I find a good platform that is accessible in my country to share my og stories, then I will publish them on there and share links here, maybe. I hope I can find because I really do not want to bury my passion for writing.
