Today former First Lady, Nancy Reagan will be laid to rest at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in this spot next to her husband. I visited the Reagan Library some years ago and it was really a spectacular place. In today's political climate, visiting a Presidential Library might seem like the last thing you would want to do, especially if you're already exhausted from the current political race. However, I urge you to go. More historical than political, I found the Reagan Library to be inspiring and incredibly interesting. (And much more non-partisan than you would expect.) It covered the span of Ronald Reagan's whole life, from his childhood, to film career, to being Governor of California and the President of the United States, and beyond. But, the one thing that stuck with me the most to this day was how they displayed his relationship with Nancy. People have been saying that their's was a true love story, and I believe it. There was a display of Ronald's love letters to Nancy that he wrote while on presidential trips. He leaned on her for moral support, advice, and unconditional love while serving in arguably the most difficult job in America. The letters truly brought tears to my eyes. I'm sorry to say I didn't take any pictures of them! I'll have to go back. When I'm in a museum setting, I tend to take few pictures and just read the displays and take it all in, rather than focus on documenting everything. Some things are better off just being experienced, but I do wish I had taken pictures of the letters. I heard on the news that Nancy Reagan planned every last detail of her funeral, to be held today. And what brought tears to my eyes again is that she requested being placed as close as possible to her husband, so they will be placing her casket one inch from his. Today I will be posting other photos from the Reagan Library, in honor of one of our most beloved Presidents, and the woman that, no doubt, made the man.
