Sometimes, a glimmer of hope crosses my mind that you survived. That you looked out at the sea and thought of us, or heard about the Nautilus in some port. That perhaps, for a fleeting second, you thought: "He is alive; he remembers me." And if you didn't, that is alright. Because I thought of us—so much. I thought of your kisses and the hugs you’d give me in bed in the morning. I wake up every day remembering that I’ll never receive one of those again.

But if this isn't just a fantasy my mind created to soothe my heart—if you really are alive... Don't forget me. Don't erase me from your memory. I don't know if you hate me—because, after all, it’s understandable if you do. I wronged you deeply,and I do not ask for your forgiveness, I don't deserve it.

I don't know if that flame still burns in your heart... But please, never forget that you were the one who saved me. The locks were turned, the door opened, and the steward appeared.

Before I could rush forward to stop him, the Canadian had thrown him down, and held him by the throat. The steward was choking under the grip of his powerful hand.

Conseil was already trying to unclasp the harpooner’s hand from his half-suffocated victim, and I was going to fly to the rescue, when suddenly I was nailed to the spot by hearing these words in French—

“Be quiet, Master Land; and you, Professor, will you be so good as to listen to me?”

Okay, wait. This made me have to stop and think for a while because you're right! We definitely see Marty happy at times—he smiles and excitedly exclaims things—but we don't really get any audible genuine laughter.

Except! In this scene, which is perhaps the only time in the trilogy we actually hear Marty laugh.

It's weird, because I was thinking about how there has to be other moments in the trilogy where he laughs, because I can hear it in my head, but I think I'm thinking of Alex P. Keaton.
