Snow always reminds me of these two. And the first snow always hits harder than everything. This time winter made a return.

Here's my first try at the motorcycle jacket pattern from Doll Coordinate Recipe Vol. 5, accidentally printed in Barbie size as detailed here (which is fine because I was intending it for a Barbie anyway, it's just a little generous on her)

I acknowledge that it's not perfect, both to let people who might criticize me for its mistakes know that I know I made mistakes and it's fine, and also so people who might look at it and say, "No, you're wrong, there are no mistakes here" can maybe consider looking past the mistakes in things they make and say "It's fine."

The decorations are motifs cut from two different fabrics and adhered to the polka dot cotton with fusible webbing

I did interface the collar and lapel facings

The fiddliest part:

not only because that's a slashed opening at that scale (I didn't face it, but did use fusible webbing to hold the folded/pressed edges in place), but also because I stubbornly interlocked those zipper teeth by hand, because I wanted to leave the rest of the zipper still functional (and with the bottom stop in place), which meant only using the unzipped parts above the pull. And then I had to remove all of the zipper teeth at the ends, so they wouldn't be in the seam allowance; this was done by clipping them off with sprue cutters.

Even after years of experience and learning a craft, it's still pretty common to slip up and ruin something. The ability to push through that and make more things is almost more important than the skill itself.

A photography practice session using Velvet as the model (2023-2026)

Velvet is clearly the most willful member of our family, and I still don't understand her personality at all.

When Velvet isn't keen on participating in photoshoots, the photos noticeably suffer. But I can't do anything about it because she's just so adorable.

In my mind, Velvet and Regulus are lovers, and she and Reisner are step-siblings.

Maybe I'll have Maki as Velvet's sister someday.

Took smol Anju with me on a short vacation, and he loved investigating forests and castles!

I still love tumblr, because I can just dump pictures here without thinking about anything, really. There will be another post with moar pictures.

i redid my oldest surviving doll!

the original is about 15 years old, and was made for a school course. it's funny how many dolls i made at various levels of education before it clicked as something i might want to do for fun.

in the remake i recreated most of the existing elements and used a similar color palette, but made an older version of the character. i love how he turned out, though making a doll that is just a Human Guy was strange. not even a little bit of horns or something?
