soup and salad both demand bread and butta so I made a fresh loaf too. for 2026 I challenged myself to bake all of the bread we eat at home and I’m still going strong on that! my in-laws just gifted me this little oval cast iron bread oven for my birthday so I was happy to try it out today. it will definitely be my go-to in the future, I love the shape of the loaf and way the crust turns out.

funny to see my dad’s shots (here) compared to my own. he’s been a professional photographer for most of my life; wizard tricks with darkroom chemicals were a big part of my childhood. I’ve noticed lately that his editing is much darker and cooler than my own and he strongly prefers landscape over portrait framing; I think my lower contrast/warm/vertical can probably be attributed to social media display logistics that he didn’t grow up with. that said our subject matter is very similar, we even snapped a honeybee on the same squash flower at different times in the same day, and you get here the other side of the cucumber trellis haha.
