yo…. when jet breaks in the tea shop and accuses zuko and iroh of beinh firebenders….
do you think any of the patrons looked at zukos scarred face - obviously done by a firebender - and immediately think jet was an asshole? like
jet: hes a firebender!!!!
patrons, thinking about the backstory they concocted for zuko and iroh where their home was invaded by firebenders and they barely survived with their lifes so they could come and have a peaceful life selling tea in a city the war doesnt touch:
Jet: He’s a firebender!
The Patrons to the Tea Shop internally: You fucking stupid, sir? I think you might be stupid.
#if someone shouted something racialized at a food service worker and he pulled swords#if be like ‘yeah that’s fair’
He didn’t even use his own swords. He took them from a guard and the guards let him
The Mesoamerican civilizations represent a long continuum of complex societies that emerged independently in Central America and southern Mexico from roughly 1500 BCE to the early 16th century CE, prior to Spanish conquest. Rather than a single empire or linear progression, Mesoamerica was shaped by successive cultural horizons in which shared ideas, such as maize agriculture, ritual calendars, urban ceremonial centers, and sacred kingship, were continually adapted to local environments and political structures. These societies developed without large domesticated animals or metal tools, relying instead on intensive agriculture, labor organization, and sophisticated knowledge systems.
NO FEAR. The actors who played Long John Silver and Captain Flint in Black Sails FULLY ACKOWLEDGE that the Muppet adaptation was the best

hi i hope i get to be the one to break this news on Tumblr, because
I am reading Tim Curry’s 2025 memoir, Vagabond
and in it, he not only devotes a chapter to Muppet Treasure Island, but also references this very post
so, to recap
no, Tim Curry is absolutely NOT a Muppet; however
yes, he and Miss Piggy ABSOLUTELY fucked

Filippo Palizzi (Italian painter 1818–1899)
Excavations in Pompeii, 1870
Oil on Canvas
119.5 × 86 cm.
Private Collection
@anthropologist-on-the-loose get peer-reviewed because your shared experience with the subject of the painting really heightened the emotional impact of this artwork for me ( An impact which was already high tbh. The idea that Pompeii was built by generations, buried by generations, uncovered by generations. What if I just started screaming and never stopped. )
"Built by generations, buried by generations, uncovered by generations" is ruining me, thanks

TIL in 1915, San Diego hired a “rain maker” who used a secret mix of chemicals to “attract rain” for $10,000, payable if he filled their reservoir. It rained for most of January, destroying bridges, dams, and causing 20 deaths.
via reddit.com
that was the Devil
I mean they wanted rain
His name was Charles Hatfield and I’m not saying that you shouldn’t make a deal with him, but I am saying that you should be very clear about the terms and conditions
I think we need to fully appreciate the fact that the reason he “looks like the Devil” is that many depictions of the Devil in American popular media are specifically caricatures of this guy. Like, imagine being a con man and fucking up your hustle so badly that for more than a century afterwards people start drawing the Devil to look like you.

I am so very sorry. It was an accident.
The Mummy (1999) dir. Stephen Sommers
My request window is currently open! If you would like a FREE miniaturized version of your favorite Sherlock Holmes story or adaptation, just tell me which one you prefer and I will put you on my list!
How do they work? I affectionately refer to them as murder dollhouses, because you get to set up the scene of the crime. I make all the furniture and clues, and you get to play with them. I use boxes to frame the scenes because I like the idea of giving people their very own special world which only exists for them when they open the box.
I have lots of reasons for giving these away, and chief among them is that I simply love making miniatures, I love Sherlock Holmes, and I get the most out of the making when I know it's for another fan who will get all of the details and Easter eggs. I'm privileged enough to be able to do this for fun, so why not share them around? This way I have a constant stream of work coming in, which keeps my brain from tearing itself apart like a racing engine.
If you would like a Portable Sherlock Holmes Mystery, message me here or on Discord at tiger_daniels (the latter is the most reliable way to get ahold of me, I still miss things on Tumblr sometimes but am trying to get better.)
