Man is selfish by nature. He is always ready to sacrifice everything else for his own self. He would be willing to destroy anything for the sake of his own survival. It is difficult for him to do away with this natural instinct and to overcome his selfishness. But so long as he does not do so, he cannot expect the divine light to manifest itself in his heart. In other words unless a spiritual traveler annihilates his individual self he cannot establish his connection with Allah. Therefore it is necessary for him first to weaken and ultimately to smash the spirit of selfishness so that whatever he may do, is done purely for the sake of Allah and his sense of self-love may turn into love for Him.

Dive deep in the ocean of knowledge, and collect every pearl that you come across. Strive to not be a hypocrite, by acting upon the knowledge you gain. Let the Qur’an be in your right hand, and the Sunnah in your left; let Allah fill your heart with His Love and Light; let Allah bless you with the Hikmah/Wisdom; and let Allah guide you on this path of Islam. Know your purpose in life, and do not rush in judging something

The element of knowledge is necessary in order to realize the benefits of following the commands of Allâh and the sense of happiness and fulfillment that one may attain by following them; and to understand what it is in the forbidden things that causes harm, imperfection and evil. When a person realizes that, and adds strong willpower, the desire for spiritual achievement and the wish to live as a complete human being (as opposed to as animal-like existence), then it will become easy for him to attain the quality of patience. The bitterness of patience will become sweet and the pain of patience will become joy.

Work for your terrestrial life in proportion to your location in it, and work for your afterlife in proportion to your eternity in it.

Don’t run away from grief, o soul Look for the remedy inside the pain. Because the rose came from the thorn and the ruby came from a stone.

Once you put Allah before your desires, you will see the Dunya come crawling at your feet.

قَالَ لَا تَخَافَآ‌ۖ إِنَّنِى مَعَڪُمَآ أَسۡمَعُ وَأَرَىٰ

You cause the night to enter the day, and You cause the day to enter the night; and You bring the living out of the dead, and You bring the dead out of the living. And You give provision to whom You will without account.

It isn’t a coincidence that prayer was commanded right after the year of sadness. The prayer was the greatest comfort.

It is not permissible for a believer, man or woman, to exercise choice in a matter for which Allah and His Messenger issued a command. And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger has certainly strayed into clear error.
