Robby doesn’t like to be touched, except he reaches out for Jack every time. Robby is walking around that ER getting his last affairs in order and no one bats an eye, but Jack takes one look at him and says ‘make sure you come back’. Jack finds comfort in the darkness, but knows that Robby doesn’t, so he asks to give him a call if it gets too dark. Robby has no trouble deflecting and joking every time someone questions his sabbatical, except when it’s Jack, who truly sees him, sees right through him, and suddenly Robby is shifty, and uncomfortable, and can’t hold eye contact. There’s truly no one else in the world who knows them better than they know each other.
