A talk about people hating on Jill’s personality in RE3 Remake
So I’ve seen a lot of people complain about how Jill’s personality was changed in the remake of RE3, and I just find it so amusing on what exactly they complain about, you guessed it, her being too angry is somehow an issue. How? Honestly my biggest guess is misogyny, bc it’s mostly men complaining about it and they all say the same shit, “she was more cute and happy” and I just find it so weird how they want a TRAUMATISED woman to still be all cutesy and happy when she struggles to sleep bc of the nightmares she has, then having to leave the city you were born in and experienced so much shit in while doing research and becoming the prime target by the enemy;
but before you can even do that, you have a fucking bioweapon come crushing in your house and then throwing you around and chasing you, and when you think finally escaped that nightmare and can breathe you’re met with the outbreak and having to run again with your friend/colleague, and just when you a few seconds to breathe, you witness him getting eaten by zombies and having no choice but to run away;
then you’re met AGAIN with that bioweapon that follows you like an obsessed stalker, bc he was manufactured to follow you like smth from a nightmare, and you know no bullets can kill it, so you have no choice but to run;
but it’s bc you get saved by a man who looks skilled enough to give you some protection so you can finally breathe properly, but then you find out he works for the company that sent that bioweapon to kill you, you think you’re fucked once again;
Fast forward you’ve met a man that works for another company and he straight away treats you like shit and sees you as someone below him and incapable bc you’re a woman, and a softie, and you think you have to prove him wrong, hell you have to prove your skills and capabilities to the other men otherwise you wouldn’t be taken seriously. But that’s not enough for the man who still thinks he’s still in power over you;
throughout the whole game you’re chased by the same bioweapon until you get infected and then cured, the only good thing is that you can finally trust the man from the enemy company bc he saved your life and cured you, but then you have to fight both the bioweapon and the man who still sees you as an incapable woman, but good thing now you have someone to help you, but you kill both yourself in the end, and finally leave your home and seeing it being bombed knowing you’re never coming back to it.
there’s a lot of stuff that I didn’t mention bc atp I’d be saying everything that happens in the game plus it’s been a while since I played both games so my memory is not that great but I’ll say, if you think a traumatised woman who was seen as less just bc of her gender then getting chased constantly (and one thing I forgot to mention, having shit stuffed in your throat and getting poisoned is not fun either) should be all cute and happy then you’re weird, bc if Leon’s personality can be changed from OG RE4 then so can Jill’s, I mean Leon also became more angry in the remake yet people ate the shit up, but the moment a woman is showing anger, that’s a problem, let’s not forget that Capcom was known to be misogynistic in the past.

i find it so funny how the post mentions praise towards Leon’s drip and analysis but they still managed to include them shitting on Grace’s fear and stumbling in the first paragraph, wasn’t your other post with your complaints towards Grace’s stumbling and fear reactions not enough? plus the noises was bc most of the time her VA was actually anxious and scared.
but ofc when it comes to Leon it’s gonna be praise but with Grace is complaining, i love Leon but this is straight up glaze, plus it was not done to annoy the players on purpose, you’re just an asshole who thinks a person with anxiety actually showing fear and being anxious is annoying, which says a lot about you, and you said it yourself, you’re not usually a horror game player yet you somehow had to share your opinion that you know that it doesn’t matter, RE games are survival horror games, not just horror games, but survival, for leon’s parts in requiem it’s action horror game (same as re4) bc he’s experienced and can kill everyone with no problem, but with grace you quite literally have to survive, i loved grace’s parts bc i genuinely felt the anxiety when playing them, and i wasn’t even there, now imagine how she felt, and i wasn’t the only one who felt the anxiety in her parts, that’s how you know they have done the survival horror right, and you complained how you didn’t want to experience the second hand scare thru grace, you want to be actually jumpscared, which tells me you genuinely don’t know what survival horror game is, having constant jumpscares where smth is jumping at you is honestly boring, i want to feel the anxiety when walking around having to be quiet to attract the attention of the monsters and zombies, and also i knew you weren’t paying attention to the game when you said “child grace” when talking about chloe, a whole different character 🤦♀️ and if you hate the stumbling, maybe don’t put it in 3rd pov, it’s obvious that RE games are not made for you, bc you mentioned grace’s parts reminded you of leon from re2r which btw…was the whole point, she was supposed to represent rookie leon, there’s a reason she gets rookie leon as a gun charm for her gun.
