Just imagine if Bitty was ever upset about something, like he had a really bad day or his grandma was sick, and he starts crying while heâs skyping with Jack, and Jackâs heart aches at the sight of it, and it physically hurts when he reaches out as if to touch Bitty, to comfort him, only to have his fingers bump against the cold, hard screen of his computer instead, and he literally canât stand it, Bitty, his sweet, fierce, beautiful Bitty is crying, and Jack is so far away.
So he makes his excuses, and he knows it hurts Bitty when he says he has to go when Bitty is so upset, but he does it anyway, and when heâs ended the call he doesnât even bother packing a bag or grabbing his toothbrush, he just has his keys and his wallet, and heâs out the door, in the car, flooring it to Samwell, and he makes it there in 30 minutes, somewhat shocked that he didnât get pulled over for going well over the speed limit. Â He doesnât bother knocking at the Haus, it still feels like home anyway, and he flies up the steps before anyone from the living room has even heard the front door open and shut.
The door to Bittyâs room is locked, though, and he has to knock, softly.  He hears a muffled, somewhat hoarse âJust a minute!â and then the sound of the bed squeaking, and a few seconds later the door opens, and Bitty is still wiping at his eyes with the back of his hand, saying, âSorry, I was justââ and then he sees Jack, and his eyes, still so red and swollen, widen, and after a few stunned seconds he says, âJack?â and Jack says, âBitty,â and heâs stepping into the room, kicking the door shut behind him, cupping Bittyâs face in his hands, and pressing their foreheads together.  Bittyâs bottom lip trembles, and then there are fresh tears building, sliding down his cheeks, and he sucks in a gasping, shuddering breath, and then his arms are wrapped so tightly around Jackâs middle it almost hurts, and his face is buried against Jackâs chest, and Jack holds him while he cries.
They never make it out of their regular clothes. Â Jack pulls Bitty to the bed, and Bitty curls up against him, and Jack runs his fingers through Bittyâs hair and rubs his back and whispers against his temple until Bitty cries himself to sleep.
