hi! i'm jacket (he/him, it/its, voi/void/voir/vois/voidself), and this is the blog where i add descriptions to images.

i mostly do plushies, flags, and text posts; i'm not great at describing anything complex. sometimes i'll pick moodboards with photographs if they seem easy enough for me to describe.

my descriptions do end up being quite long, since for most things i make them as detailed as i can. i just go off of what would make the image clear enough in my mind for me to picture it. i ask that if you are the op of a post, you either reblog the post with my description, add it to your post, or add it as alt text to your images.

i can take requests i guess, but i may reject them if i have too much trouble describing an image.

i have no dni; image descriptions are for everyone regardless of beliefs, but i do block if you make me massively uncomfortable.

sometimes my activity gets really spotty because i deal with chronic pain and fatigue and sometimes don't have the energy to even do simple flag descriptions, but when i'm active my queue tends to get up to 100 posts!

For people who write or use image IDs, what is best practice for writing an ID for an image containing text with a typo? (Assuming the typo isn't intentional, important, or relevant to the meaning of the image, and that it's obvious what the actual word should be.)

Example: You need to ID a screenshot of the text "Tumblr is a websute"

how should you ID images with typos in the text?

Preserve typo: "Tumblr is a websute"

Make note of typo: "Tumblr is a websute [sic]"

Include typo and correction: "Tumblr is a websute (website)"

Just correct the typo: "Tumblr is a website"

Hi, I just transcribe things.

What does that mean exactly?

It means I write out and describe what is going on in an image, video, GIF, banner, and more. I also provide plain text, which is text without added on color and fonts, but instead default text on Tumblr.

Formating?

My format is usually [Image ID: text. End ID] or [PT: text. End ID].

Discourse stances?

Discourse stances are... useless. It's just online stuff, plus everyone deserves accessibility when needed. Yes, that includes posts you may be uncomfortable with. Just block the tag and move on.

Specific things I transcribe

I will transcribe MOGAI blogs. There is a HUGE unfortunate flux of users who do not transcribe their posts. I've seen creators leave the community due to this. People can learn to transcribe and use spoons/forks/energy to transcribe, but don't. Yes, having low spoons/forks/energy can be a reason. However, making complex flags or flags in general does also use up spoons/forks/energy, and thus, transcribing them should also be an aspect of posting such flags when using spoons/forks/energy on the subject.

Other

I will reblog posts that contain image IDs from other users. I will tag accordingly (alterhuman, gender, punk id, etc etc). What I transcribe is not indicative of my stances.

Tags

I will add tag posts by their category, plus subcategory, and term. Such as: '#alterhuman #otherkin #foxkin', for example.
