itâs so special to me that so much of fan culture is textual analysis for the love of the game. like thank god there are people in my phone who are also thinking about this thing i love so much that they are writing transformative fiction as character studies and setting clips of the show to music with theme-relevant lyrics and writing long text posts analyzing every line of dialogue like!! yay!!!

Corporate and you: how to handle large scale group organizing and master bureaucracy without going fucking insane.
So, couple disclaimers at the beginning. This is the how to survive Corporate and why you need to learn bureaucracy rant I mentioned a few days back. This is based on my 12 years working (and thriving!) in a Corporate environment based around the US but not being physically living in the US. It's also the result of 20 years doing consistent activist work with large scale organizations and doing mostly logistics support.
Full disclosure, the realization this rant needed to exist came from a very popular blog chronicling a Bad Work Spiral and a friend sharing that with me, and me having a Weird Uncomfortable reaction to it. I will not be linking to this person because they're already having a really shitty time of it, and having a random stranger they don't know from Adam writing commentary on how to avoid landing in that kind of situation seems to me deeply unkind.
I want to be clear and upfront about this from the beginning: these observations are not meant to absolve an abusive, toxic workplace just because it's Corporate. What I'm trying to do is give you tools to navigate boundaries in Large Groups Of People, of which Corporate is one of the most common places you will find yourself in. Not knowing how to navigate the dynamic makes you vulnerable to exploitation; it never makes you responsible for it.
So with that in mind:
What the fuck is Corporate?
This whole write up seems to have missed a couple of major sources of problems with this system that I have seen at work and in many other contexts (for example, management of my previous apartment):
The Person Who Doesn't Do Their Job (because they don't care to)
It's great that there's a guy assigned to fix cables and speakers. Unfortunately, it's not very helpful if that guy repeatedly closes out the ticket for the frayed cable without actually replacing it, and refuses to respond when you try to escalate by calling or emailing instead of submitting another work order.
The Person Who Doesn't Do Their Job (because they are incompetent)
It's great that there's a guy assigned to fix cables and speakers. Unfortunately, it's not very helpful if that guy replaces the previously frayed speaker cable with a shoddy wiring job that causes the speaker to blow out as soon as you turn it on again.
New Challenger! The Person Who Doesn't Do Their Job (because they want to suck Sam Altman's dick so bad it makes them look stupid)
Surely this schematic AI made of the speaker wiring shows the correct way to replace the cable, and not a nonsensical boondoggle that will take thrice as long to repair as it would have if the manufacturer's published procedures had been followed in the first place. (Bonus points if this person would actually prefer to do their job correctly but is being forced to integrate AI by some level of management who not only want to suck Sam off, but to be sodomized by him on live TV)
The Somebody Else's Problem Loop
It's great that there's a guy assigned to fix cables and another assigned to fix speakers. You have a frayed speaker cable. When you contact the cable guy he tells you that's the speaker guy's area and when you contact the speaker guy he tells you it's the cable guy's area. No one is willing to step up and say, the buck stops here, let's get this sorted out and back in working order so your conference room is usable again.
The Absent Management/HR
Theoretically those things above should be building a File on those guys that gets them on a PIP or, in the long term, if you as the person who has to deal with them gets EXTREMELY lucky, let go. But instead they've been at the company for ten years and because they play politics better than you they're actually about to fail upward, maybe even into a job you're much more qualified for. Especially if they're male or white and you're female or not white.
Another way this one manifests is, you escalate that SEP loop to the boss that needs the conference room, and they don't bother to pass that information on to the people who could figure out whose problem it actually is and compel them to do their damn job.
The Management That Shoots The Messenger
It's great that there's a guy assigned to fix cables and speakers. You scheduled this meeting a week ago, and submitted a work order at that point when you checked the conference room and realized there was a frayed speaker cable. The meeting is this afternoon, it is not fixed, and you have not received so much as a scheduled time to expect the guy assigned to fix cables and speakers despite following up with the cable and speaker department via phone, email, and an in person visit. You send your boss an email explaining that, despite your best efforts, the conference room will not be ready for this afternoon's meeting as the cable and speaker guy has not fixed the speaker cable. You are berated for this and possibly threatened with HR action.
You're Evil For Submitting Work Orders
It's great that there's a guy assigned to fix cables and speakers. The thing is, in his eyes, if it's a problem you could have possibly handled yourself with a trip to the electronic store and your own money, you should have done, even if it was done on your own time or exorbitantly expensive or otherwise unfair to ask of you and the people who rely on the actual tasks you are employed to perform. He has a lot on his plate right now and doesn't need to be caught up in the small potatoes problems when there are things that actually require an expert to repair. He's going to make sure you know this, and feel awful every time you submit a work order in the future, even if it's really something you couldn't handle yourself. Boy Who Cried Wolf analogies may be used.
This one shows up a LOT in education (itself a form of bureaucracy), particularly the situation where "the guy assigned to fix cables and speakers" are administrators and parents who refuse to back you up when you feel you need to escalate a disciplinary concern out of the classroom, or make you feel like you're the problem for needing their help with a student's discipline repeatedly.
What Money?
Everyone in every department and at every level of management agrees that the company needs to hire another guy in the cable and speaker department, and the data backs this up. There is no money available for this and if they "trim" any more "fat" to make some available, it's probably going to be you that gets "right-sized" out of a job.
Really?
It doesn't matter very much how competent this person is or isn't at their job. You are always going to be miserable as long as they work here because they keep stealing your lunch out of the fridge. (The security camera is broken, so it's repeatedly blown off because there is no evidence. But if you dead dove them you can bet it's you that's getting fired; they'll conveniently manage to find some evidence for that).
------
Basically, the way you've written your original post assumes that the systematic level of the corporation or bureaucracy is not dysfunctional beyond repair, and is in fact robust to the many types of stick one individual can chuck into the spokes to make it dysfunctional beyond repair, and in my experience, that is a RARE phenomenon
While I don't dispute the existence or validity of these failure modes, I think you're missing the point of the exercise.
The point of the post is to demystify the concept of Corporate and some of the common pitfalls that make people turn away at the door, from this kind of large scale organizing.
My main goal is for people to be less apathetic and knee-jerk reactionary about large scale organizing, decrying it as corrupt and broken beyond repair and using that as an excuse to not get involved at all. By all means, not denying the failure modes that you describe are real and often present, but I do dispute the idea that they're insurmountable. Like sure, there are in fact crazy toxic places that one is better off leaving, but sometimes you just. Can't leave. For want of a paycheck. Or for your own safety. It's messy!
But the point of the post is "here's some things people do not understand about how large scale organizing works and that they find baffling or confusing and how to navigate them." And also, a side of "this kind of large scale organizing is the best kind of organizing we've figured out, regardless of hierarchy so it matters that you know how to navigate and play the game so you can get involved in governance for this kind of large scale group."
Like, "a lot of the complaints people have with Corporate are not driven by Corporate being uniquely evil, but by people not knowing how to conduct themselves in large scale organizations."
It's definitely not "Corporate is always good" or "bureaucracy is problem free."

Hey does anybody have any advice or know any tips? I've always wanted to know how to do something.
1. If you can avoid it, never call a business on the first day of the week it's open. Wait until at least 40 minutes after they're open on the second day. This waits out the first wave of frantic callers and gives whoever is on the phone time to grab a coffee and drink enough that they don't feel disturbed in their morning start-up ritual.
You'll spend less time on hold and reach more people with the time and patience to hear you out.
2. Take notes for phone calls. You can literally make a numbered check list of what you definitely want to bring up, and then during the call take down who you spoke to, at what date and what solutions/deadlines were promised.
This keeps you on topic without forgetting your priorities, and also gives you something to refer back to later.
The method of changing your duvet cover by rolling it onto the duvet was a huge help when I had low energy:
A rice cooker can also cook most frozen vegetables, as long as they're in small pieces, and can reheat precooked meats also in bite-sized bits. You can make a whole meal in around half an hour by dumping 1 cup rice, 2 cups liquid, and 1-2 servings of meat & vegetables in a rice cooker and hitting start. Use a flavored liquid, like broth, or mix in seasonings at the start, and you're good to go. Cubed carrots and sweet potato with canned chickpeas and yellow curry paste, for example. Frozen peas and pearl onions with shredded chicken and chicken broth.
Whatever you like.
A friendly reminder that Kakashi is actually very fit, he's not skinny or small.
I mean look at those THICC thighs! đ
This man definitely never skips legs days, I mean, how can anyone forget how muscular and well defined Kakashi's body actually is when we got to see a small glances of him without his loose clothes?!!
Kakashi actually trains as hard as anyone else if not harder as I previously explained in this post
And we've seen him standing beside Gai and Obito countless of times before and there wasn't any size differences between them
Kakashi has a great body and the world needs to remember that.

Even folks on the pro-porn side of the aisle often talk like it's the presence of narrative that makes porn an art form, as though the erotic needs to be explicitly justified in order to elevate it from the mere mechanical production of arousal, and it always makes me feel like maybe we're not quite as "pro" as we think we are.
If photography is an art (it is) and a photographer is an artist (they are) then pornographic images or other works don't have to tell a story in order to be a form of art.
"You watched a horror movie? Ugh. Don't you know they only make those to make you scared? All it does it appeal to primal instincts, so it clearly doesn't actually count as real art unless there's some deeper meaning to it."
It's almost like not puritans still don't consider horniness a valid emotion...? đ¤đ¤đ¤ Weird...
