Ohhhh Obito and Iruka interacting would be soooo. God. Cause you Know Iruka would snap at some point cause Obito kept trying to be confrontational towards him for no goddamn reason (never in front of Kakashi though, when Kakashi's around Obito just straight up pretends Iruka isn't there). And Iruka can definitely be mean when he wants to, he's a teacher, he knows how to look for insecurities, so when he snaps, he goes straight for the throat for sure. And what would Obito even do? What Could he even do? Be mean back? He doesn't know Iruka, doesn't know where he came from and what happened to him, so nothing he ever says will be enough to hurt Iruka. And he sure as hell can't hurt him physically, Naruto forgives a lot of things, but hurting Iruka? Literally the only person who would actually give a damn about him without second or third intentions? Obito would be dead before he could even blink. I think that the only thing I don't agree with you is that Iruka could have become like Obito had he not had anyone, because we know for a fact Iruka never liked hurting people and enjoyed making them laugh (even if at his own expense), he always tried bringing genuine joy to people around him. Obito could have been like Iruka if he had had the right environment, but I don't think Iruka could have ever have become like Obito. And that makes Obito angry. So so angry. Because how dare he. How dare he be so good that everyone just loves him without effort when Obito had to fight for it every second of his life. Whenever he sees Kakashi looking at Iruka he just gets even more pissed because even when Kakashi Was in love with him he never looked at Obito the way he looks at Iruka. Kakashi looked at Obito like a tragedy, like something he would never have so he didn't even try, he looks at Iruka like he's coming home, like Iruka is hope embodied. Obito hates Iruka, but he hates himself even more.
Love this, but I disagree on the fact that Obito was kind. He was so, so kind until Madara, until Rin died, until everything he loved was stripped for him. He saved a boy that was nothing but mean him from certain death on admiration alone. He COULD have been Iruka on the sense that he COULD have been this kind force of nature. But he wasn't. And we know that in the end Obito was repentent on how he handled things, and accepted he was far, far from ever being able to be forgiven and redeemed. He CHOSE to die with that. The obito that was loud, and brash and argumentative DIED long before Obito did.
So in an universe where he was convinced he could have been saved and came back to Konoha, seeing Iruka would cause whiplash. But I dont think it would be ever anger. That anger, that drive, that he had for the better part 2 decades was gone. He would simply be unable to confront Iruka. That explosive anger wouldn't happen in my opinion. It would be a far, far more subdue thing. A far more tired thing that anyone could ever imagine would come from someone like Obito. He's more likely to ask tiredly after watching Iruka "what is it so special about you? what is that you have that I don't have?"
Iruka on the other hand, its true he never wanted to hurt anyone, that he was kind but we also have to remember that he too was angry. If it hadn't been for the third, as much as I hate him, Iruka would most likely gone a different path. Iruka is a loud, contradictory and argumentative by nature, add that hes anger at the systeam and at his parents death? if he was any bit more isolated only goddness knoes ehat would have happend to hum. But he is also very loving and caring and Kind. He can give it back when he wants to the problem is he NEVER wants to. Iruka wouldn't yell at Obito if Obito ever lashed out at him on pure jealousy. He would defend himself sure, but yell at him? No thats not Iruka. Iruka better than anyone would know that anger and resentment can be build from something independent to how you feel.
The fight betwen them would be far less explosive thing, it would be much more a battle of witt than actuall yelling. I can see them around a table when Kakashi is not around and its just the two of them, both deeply uncomfortable, finallya iring out the tension, because Iruka is a grown man and hes tired of being disected, and obito simply responds tiredly but with an undercurrent of jealousy "why? why you?" and Iruka responds by asking that same question back.
