jachartaâ:
âI donât think that⊠Iâm great.â She grinned and crossed her arms. Lowly mechanic, she was used to it. People like her was constantly undersimate because theyâre mechanic. âWell, donât blame me if your spaceship will left you in the middle of nowhere.â Jarâs eye looked at him with disappointment. âThey need all of us, kiddo. When you grow up, youâll understand it.â Jar hesitated, hiding the device in the sleeve. Can she trust him?
âWell, nevermind.â She walked towards him and hug the grumpy kid tightly. It was a moment and then, while she went away, her hand slipped and stopped on the kidâs palm. âThis may be useful to you.â Jar blinked when said that. âA gift from a lowly engineer.â
âYou wouldnât dare mess with my ship! Thatâs clearly a violation of the regulations we have here.â Porthos isnât so sure why her mentioning the Pharaon makes him antsy. âIâm twenty-five. Iâm an adult. Just because you are old enough to be everyoneâs grandma doesnât mean Iâm incapable of taking care of myself.â She hesitates and hides whatever she had in her sleeve. If he werenât standing so close, he wouldnât have noticed.Â
His eyes roll as Jar moves in to give him a hug. After a sigh, he hugs her back. Something is placed in his hands. His eyes go to it immediately. âWhat is this supposed to be?â At least they werenât embracing anymore. Here he thought things were going to get more awkward than they already were.Â
âOh, donât worry about me, kiddo. Iâm here to protect you, stupid Navigator.â Jar patted his head before leaving. She was leaving Porthos alone, but when she reached the door, lokked at the guy.
âItâs a gift my dear. Say thanks to Phobos from me. Iâm sure youâre smart enought to guess what is inside that device. âIâm in the machine room if wanna talkt to me.â Another glance to the Navigator and the woman left waving to him.
