Trembling fingers scratched idly along fresh scabs. His attention drifted toward the sound of heavy footsteps downstairs. The whirr of a fan. The hiss of water. Ten minutes to himself. Twenty three steps to his foster parents' office. One lock on the safe. One sin to salvation. Burning eyes traced the fading floral pattern on yellowed wallpaper. He wondered if dark red splatter would clash with delicate blue petals.
