And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you [with abundant increase of favors] and make your name famous and distinguished, and you will be a blessing [dispensing good to others]. (Genesis 12:2 AMP) Many believers (especially Men) make the mistake of thinking that coming to The Lord means you now have to trade in your drive and passions towards greatness in order to become meek, humble and a servant to all. As if you have to choose between striving for greatness or giving your life to God.. The confusion comes from not understanding that real, Authentic Greatness never conflicts with any of these characteristics mentioned above. Authentic Greatness is actually made possible by living in the TRUE DEFINITION of them all. There’s nothing wrong with having passion, passion is simply desire. Desire becomes bad when you direct it at the wrong things and for the wrong reasons. God doesn’t detest Greatness, He detests Pride. He created you to be Great!! Even Jesus said we will do greater works than Himself, and Jesus was pretty awesome if you ask me. So just imagine..... what do you think God has in store for us? In Matthew 20 Jesus speaks about James and John asking for honor in Christ’s Kingdom, Jesus didn’t tell the men not to wish to be great. He didn’t tell them not to desire significance, influence, and the ability to make a lasting impact. Jesus just told them not to try to get it the same way that the Gentiles did. As a believer you have a responsibility for those whom God has given you influence over. Bottom line, your GREATNESS should be making the lives within your sphere of influence better, not worse. And you do that only by submitting your authority to the highest authority so that He can operate in His greatness through you. Then you have no other option but to be great.
