1. If I sign up for 23:1 from the start but find that I can’t handle it, can I switch to general population?
2. For the 23:1 unit, is the cell a fully enclosed room with solid walls and a solid door with only a small window? And are the regular cells the ones with barred doors? Also, in general population, do you share a cell with another inmate or is it still single occupancy?
3. In general population, if you’re only locked in your cell for about 8 hours, what do you do during the rest of the time? And in 23:1, what happens during the 1 hour out of the cell (shower, recreation, etc.)?
I actually think the best option for me would be to start in general population and then commit an offense so I’m transferred to solitary confinement. That way I could experience both. If that happens, would I stay in solitary for a full 23:1 day, or just for a few hours before returning to general population?
4. When are restraints, the restraint chair, or a straitjacket used? Also, do you ever do things like transport inmates to court in a prison van?
Thanks so much! I really appreciate your time.
1. Switching from 23:1 to General Population if you can't handle it is certainly ok. We are here to give you a great experience. The only caveat is you can't switch back and forth over and over.
2. We are generally single occupancy regardless of your security level. The cells are the same as Gen Pop just an isolated pod of 4 cells or 2 cells depending on 23:1 demand.
The most likely scenario for 23:1 is the solid door with the barred opening.
3. We definetely try to keep you busy in Gen Pop. There is social time, meal time and a few surprises. Usually inmates find ways to create some fuckery on their own.
The one hour out for 23:1 is filled with showers and grooming and recreation time. Otherwise you are in your cell. You eat in your cell. It is a brutal regime of boredom.
4. If you act like a dumbass you get restraints. If you act insane you get the straight jacket. You act like a big dumbass you get the restraint chair!
Are there other punishments? Yes
Are there surprises I will not tell you about? Yes
