I would love to tell you that we carry "less than lethal" items but the harsh reality is that we would instantly run afoul of our insurance carriers. In addition, many of our players strongly react to the presence of some of these items. Because we host roleplays of as many as 18 inmates, that is 18 personalities to take into account. So, except for a baton from time to time, the pepper spray, the cattle prods, the electrified shields, the bean bag guns, and other devices are NOT used.

What you will end up with is a view of a toilet and a concrete block wall if the staff even wishes they had pepper spray to control you!

The other part of your question is a little complicated. Because of our 2 door designs (shown above), applying leg irons prior to your cell door opening is awkward in one case and impossible in the other. You would need to wear leg irons throughout your stay and therefore already have them on. Then, you could be cuffed through the bars.

A 23:1 inmate would normally be allowed to pace his cell without leg irons or handcuffs. The idea of 23:1 is to minimize interaction with others. So, if you did wear restraints and a problem cropped up, you would potentially impact your "head space".

However, if you did a special request on your intake questionnaire to wear restraints in whatever form throughout your experience, I feel certain we could make that work.

The other question is a little more difficult because you sign up for one or the other. If you sign up as a regular inmate and 8 hours in, you decide to switch, it is disruptive to the ongoing roleplay and changes the staff dynamic. I can see a more seamless approach where you signed up for 23:1 and then just couldn't deal with it. Moving into general population would be less impactful.

I guess I would strongly encourage you to pick between standard play or 23:1 and try to see it through. Otherwise, an option might be to sign up for regular play and then commit an offense like attempted escape where you would be put in isolation for a period of time as your punishment.

If you identify as a female and have transitioned to female you are welcome to register. The only caveat is that, just like a real jail, we do not mix identified genders; so you would be in what amounts to Ad Seg. If you had another female or females who registered with you, we would assign a cellblock with an adequate number of cells

If you are female and have transitioned to and identify as male, you would be housed with the other males.

The same would apply to an event with a female population. The male would be isolated in Ad Se g. during that event.

It would have to be a preplanned use. Our staff is not trained to handle dirty diapers and some of our customers are also not into it.

So I would say a hesitant yes with lots of agreed restrictions about disposal, odors and using it to hide contraband.

We have one right now who is shackled 24/7 during a one man role play. Be certain to request it during registration and in your questionaire!!!

The formality of the head shave, the cutting of the pants, the strapping into a heavy oak chair, the salt water sponge, the formal reading of the sentencing order, the clock ticking by all really speak to me.

Any of the role play spaces would work for a solitary confinement experience

FCJ in Iowa is a 3 cell space and lends itself well to solitary.
