Working on an amazing commission! First time engraving steel AND first time inlaying silver. Made myself some custom gravers for the project, and boy are my forearms going to hurt... Completely different muscles than my traditional smithing. Learning a lot very quickly and SO excited to deliver this piece! There is a line between filling an order, and taking pride in creating a piece of your art! This is also the first time I'm doing a collaboration with my teacher which is as honoring as it is exciting, since I have admired his work since as long as I can remember. Sorry for my lack craft photos recently. For those of you who didn't hear, in July I REALLY injured my shoulder while participating in SCA heavy combat. I'm just now progressing with my physical therapy that I can start crafting again, I've missed it so much! And I am so grateful to be back at it. In August I moved the farthest I've ever lived from the place I was born, it was intimidating, but I couldn't be happier. One of the delays in my return to my beloved craft is I actually had to build my own shop before I could start work again. But now I am back!
